Impossible to imagine from the street: you enter the building and you arrive at the beginning of an alley and courtyard leading to privates houses. The view from my flat on their gardens is something rare in Paris.
The appartment is the one of a writer and artists friends, full of paintings and books. On the street side you see the Luxembourg Gardens.
Confort and refinement, contemporany and antique furniture, elegance.
Flat screen HDTV, HD Internet, free téléphone to US celles and landlines , stereo system.
The entrance and the study open onto a series of private gardens.
The living-room and bedroom offer a partial sight of the luxembourg garden.
The bathroom and toilets are separate.
Very well equipped modern open kitchen with a view of the roof tops .
The dining room with a marble table designed by my husband who is famous architect, comfortably sits six.

Super / king size bed and a confortable sofa bed.

The concierge is available and friendly.

Everything is simple. A café on the street corner, a baker further up, a small and charming triangular square with other cafés and shops. A grocery shop open till eleven at nigth in front of the building.

The apartment is in the center yet extremely quiet, an oasis in the bustling 'Rive gauche' of our dreams: artists, intellectuals, the trendy side of Paris. The very famous of our dreams 'Rive gauche' district.
Between Saint-Germain des Prés and Montparnasse, This Parisian appartment is idealy located at the corner of rue Guynemer, rue Assas, and Vavin.
This appartement has an indeniable rare charm.

Close to Place Saint-Sulpice , crossing Luxembourg garden, on a side famous restaurants and coffee shops as Deux-Magots, Flore, Lipp, and on the other side la Coupole la Closerie des Lilas and cinémas as well.
One can shop at Zara or in Cartier, Armani and Saint-Laurent, in the trendy triangle between Bd Saint-Germain, Cherche-Midi street and Bd Raspail.
The Vavin street and the small place near the building have a provincial character, special and delicious.

Subway stations : Notre-Dame des Champs & Vavin
RER train station leading to Roissy airport crossing the luxembourg garden.

True Paris living

How lucky were to find this gem. Perfect part of Paris with a most charming apartment. Full of charm, not a sterile rental. It is our host’s personal home and we felt like we “lived” there. We were to have this as our home in Paris. Would HIGHLY recommend!!!

Exceptionally charming apartment

The flat ist perfect for persons good at stair climbing. The equipment provides everything you need and the many many books and paintings make you instantly feel at home. It is perfect for a couple as a base for visiting Paris: shops, restaurants and public transportation are very close. The owner gave us very good and detailed introduction concerning both flat and restaurants, shops etc.

Live like a Parisian

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed staying in this apartment. In addition to giving 5 stars to the normal ratings we appreciated the architecture, decor, wall to wall books and CDs. For us, the culture and style that one thinks of when thinking of Paris and Parisians came to life. We also loved the quiet street that was just around the corner from lively restaurants and easy subway access to the rest of Paris. Highly recommend!

Excellent location

Beautiful, interesting apartment just steps from the wonderful Luxembourg Gardens. Wonderful neighborhood, and extremely convenient to nearly everything in Paris by walking or public transportation. Those with limited mobility should be aware that it requires walking up three flights of fairly steep steps, but a small price to pay for a lovely apartment.

A window into Parisian life

A great location one-half block from a Luxembourg Gardens gate in a delightful neighborhood with everything you need. The apartment offers a window into Parisian living, including the 3-floor walk-up. Great for burning off those croissant calories! Owner was responsive. We enjoyed our stay.

Luxembourg garden

The location was excellent - only a short walk through the beautiful Luxembourg Gardens to the metro station. Bus stops for lines 82 and 83 are virtually outside the entrance. The apartment was well equipped with a full kitchen and washing/drier machine. Wifi was high speed and included. Host Christine was always available and met us on check-in to show us how to use all appliances.

A Great Stay in our favorite Paris Apartment

My wife and I have stayed in many apartments in various areas of Paris, but since we discovered this particular apartment 4 to 5 years ago, we have not stayed anywhere else. This was our 5th stay and we have already made reservations for next year. Within easy walking distance, you can find great eating, great shopping and great sights. However, keep in mind that this someone's private residence. It is in a typical Parisian apartment building, in a typical Parisian residential neighborhood. So, if you're wanting a hotel room, with hotel service and amenities, you should look elsewhere. But if you want to experience a slice of authentic Parisian life, with boulangeries, épiceries, corner bistros, Cafés, croissants, and wonderful restaurants, I would heartedly recommend this location.

Glad I did it

This apartment is actually lived in by the owner. So the walls are covered with books and pictures. Lovely fabrics and funky old lamps everywhere. Good kitchen with lots of pots, pans, dishes. Plenty of hot water, good shower. Great location on several bus lines. In short, a good find -- a "real" living space, unlike those personality-free boxes with the plastic stick furniture one so often finds on offer. The owner even arranged a reliable taxi for my early flight home. The 63 steps up to the apartment were doable (I'm 85). I also got used to the irregular floor levels. But getting all the way to the toilet at the other end of the apartment was a bit tricky at night. These are not deal breakers by any means, but things that people with disabilities might want to know about in advance.

This very french apartment was just what I was looking for. The feeling is one of nostalgia and a romantic idea of artistic Paris in the 50s and 60s, except with very tastefully done newer kitchen and bath that is integrated into the ambiance perfectly. The beautiful dark wood floor is a piece of art in itself. With books, drawings, paintings (some framed, some not) and artifacts throughout, there is a feeling of warmth and charm I fell in love with. The neighborhood is the perfect one in Paris. Truly..it is quiet, but not too much so, close to many famous places of interest, but not so close as to be in the midst of so many tourists and it is safe. The people of the neighborhood were very friendly, happy and made us feel welcome The Lux Gardens are across the street and breathtakingly lovely. I can't honestly think of any negative at all about this lovely apartment. The owner Christine is charming, helpful and organized in her approach to you having a pleasant stay. We stayed two weeks and I was sad to go, I felt so at home.

satisfactory with some reservations

The apartment is very central. Major destinations are reached by bus which stops in front.Mere yards from the Luxembourg Gardens. There is noisy construction right across the street. There are 80 steps up a spiral staircase to the 4th floor. Hot water is an issue: very little flow in the kitchen sink or in the shower. The owner has left all her personal belongings in the apartment leaving little space for guests. The greeter was terrific: carrying both our large suitcases up the 80 stairs. What I am trying to say is that there is too much of the owner in the apartment. We almost felt like we were intruding. And it is quite expensive considering. Only one half of the induction stove worked. To be fair, the owner was available and pleasant. Chris

Parisian apartment in a perfect location

My husband and I just returned from our first trip to Paris and the choice of this apartment played a very large role in our enjoyment of our vacation. The location could not have been more perfect, close enough to sites to walk, but also close to public transportation. The neighborhood offered a number of lovely cafés and stores and after a few days we felt like we were coming home as we walked through Luxembourg Gardens towards the apartment. It became our retreat to rest, have a glass of wine, listen to some jazz and just recharge for our next venture out. The wifi was a wonderful perk and allowed us the opportunity to stay connected to some of our "guilty pleasures". The apartment itself was warm and inviting with books, art and comfortable furniture. It had a very old world charm with the benefits of a modern kitchen and bathroom. The pictures on the rental site are a very accurate representation of the property and we were not disappointed in the least. My husband and I are in our early 60's and we had no problems but as has been mentioned before the apartment is 3 flights up and the apartment itself has several areas where you need to step up or down into rooms. I only mention this as I do not think it would be a good property for anyone with mobility issues. We both loved the apartment and the charming neighborhood and would not hesitate to stay there again if we return to Paris.

Our Favorite Parisian Apartment

My wife and I absolutely love this apartment. From time to time I toy with the idea of buying an apartment in Paris and if I ever do, I would look for one just like this. Over the past decade we have stayed in many apartments on both banks of the Seine, but this has become our favorite. The location is perfect and the apartment is quite spacious by Parisian standards, clean, quiet, comfortable, and tastefully decorated. Coming back to Christine's apartment after a long day of sightseeing and shopping to rest and recuperate feels just like coming home. Within easy walking distance one can find many fine restaurants, shopping and a plethora of tourist attractions. The grocer just across the street is a favorite of mine. Within no more than 20 square feet, he has one or two of ever thing, and I find the owner to be incredibly friendly. There is also a larger grocery within 2 blocks and if that doesn't have everything you need, the Grande Épicerie is a 10 to 15 min walk. The Amarino Gelato just around the corner is my wife's favorite place. My two favorite men's clothing boutiques are within a 20 min walk. In response to the previous reviewer, we found the supply of towels, linens, dishes, silverware, etc. to be more than adequate for 2 people for 10 days. It's an apartment and somebody's home not a hotel. There's a washer / dryer, but no maid service. As for the sticky front door lock, I found a can of WD-40 in the closet, gave the lock a quick spray and it worked smoothly and effortlessly for the rest of our stay. We will definitely be staying in this apartment again.

A Parisian Gem

My wife and I have just returned from our 3 week stay in Christine's apartment in September. We are regular visitors and have stayed in 3 different Parisian apartments over the past 10 years. Christine's apartment is now our first choice. I fully endorse the positive comments of earlier visitors. The apartment's location next to the Luxembourg gardens is an outstanding feature . This enabled us to enjoy the many charms of the gardens as well as the opportunity to mingle with Parisians whilst we relaxed and sought a respite from the vibrant milieu of parisian life. The apartment is a delightful combination of salon style and modern functionalism. Kitchen and bathroom have been updated to contemporary standards and fully satisfied our needs. The kitchen is a delight to cook in . It has all the appliances and cooking paraphernalia of an American kitchen.. So when you tire of bistro cooking you can stay home and practice your culinary skills. The apartment is surprisingly quiet being in the center of the 6th arrondissement. You have easy walking access to the heart of parisian life. The bedroom has a comfortable mattress and an adjacent bathroom with an excellent shower. Since this is Christine's apartment , you will find that her elegant furnishings and extraordinary library give the apartment a salon cachet which is in keeping with its Parisian location. The apartment is in an older building on the third floor. There is no elevator but this provides the opportunity for daily exercise which with the metro stairs will guarantee that you will not put on any weight even with regular bistro dining.. My wife and I had no difficulty dealing with the stairs during our stay [we are seniors] but those with disabilities would find the stairs a challenge. The building has a concierge who is friendly and helpful. You do not need a vehicle to enjoy your stay in Paris. The Navigo pass and the 2 metro stations nearby provide easy access to the whole city. As well, if travelling from CDG by the RER train you are only a short walk from the Luxembourg RER station to the apartment. To sum up, the apartment is tasteful, elegant and very functional.

Great location but unit is old and cluttered and uncomfortable.

Pros: Apartment is located right next to Luxembourg Gardens on a pretty quiet street. Unit is 4 floors up ( 3rd floor...American 4th floor) so we felt safe having the windows open for air. Building has key/codes to get in the main door and into the stairwell that leads to the apartment. Added to security feel. Cons: Your view is of the complex courtyard and then the street. You can see the gate to Luxembourg Gardens from the front window if you stand and look right. But basically no view from this apartment. Also......the apartment is very old and cluttered. The furniture has holes in the leather so the only place to sit is on the couch. The shelves are filled with papers, books, miscellaneous lamps, etc. The bedding is old and not that comfortable. The dining chairs are hard and very uncomfortable. There is no radio or television, so bring your own entertainment. Upon arrival, there are paper instructions ( which were helpful) but also a letter from the owner stating clearly to please not use her supplies or disturb her things as she also lives there. Hmm. I have stayed in many vacation owner rentals, and ALL have had supplies for the renters like dish soap, paper towels, shampoo/conditioner, bath soap, basic kitchen needs ( salt, pepper, ketchup, etc). And I've never been asked to not use or touch the owner's belongings. If the owner doesn't want things used, then I'd recommend locking them in a cabinet so renters do not use the items. Given most of the people renting this apartment are travelers, it would have been nice to have basic needs supplied ( like soap, shampoo, etc) . So if you stay here, bring ALL personal items and go buy all the basics ( paper towels, kitchen supplies, etc). The owner did not greet us and there was no communication before our arrival as to how we would get the keys, etc. I emailed and texted the owner several times and had no response. So my daughter and I just showed up at the unit and fortunately a young man meet us ( not the owner) and showed up the unit. Overall: while I liked the location and security of the building, for the price we paid I expected more attention to detail and a unit that was not so old and tired.

Absolutely lovely stay

My son and I stayed here for 9 days (8 nights) and had the most lovely time. The location of Christine's apartment cannot be beat -- you can see the Jardin Luxembourg from the window and my son went running there several times during our stay. Super easy to walk to so much and also close to 2 different metro lines. The home felt very personal, which is what I was looking for with this stay -- when we returned "home" at the end of a day, we felt like we were in a home instead of just visiting. Christine was very responsive and welcoming. I've already recommended staying here to my in-laws who will be in Paris in 2023. Highly recommended and would be eager to stay here again in a future trip!

The location is excellent - adjacent to Luxembourg Garden, two blocks from Blvd. Montparnasse, and 20 minute walk to Blvd. St. Germain (maybe a little too far). Be forewarned however, which we were not until too late, there are three long flights of winding stairs to surmount. The apartment has a very well equipped kitchen of which, alas, we didn't take full use. There is a fine and very eclectic collection of varied music CDs and an overflowing of books (but in French). You are definitely in someone's (in this case an architect) well lived in home. Christine, the owner and wife of the aforementioned architect, was very helpful and prompt i greeting us in time as scheduled.

Across the street from the glorious Luxembourg Gardens and central to all of Paris, this charming apartment felt just like a home. I would describe it as cluttered elegance. It is obviously a loved in space full of books and art objects. We were very comfortable and felt like natives. We will definitely return to this space.

My wife and I travel to Paris about 4 times a year for many years and our favorite is the 6th. Christine's apartment is in the perfect spot for visiting Luxembourg Gardens and the many excellent restaurants nearby. The amenities of the apartment are great, very modern kitchen, nice view to courtyard, excellent bathroom and spacious living room. Our host was very attentive to our needs and responded quickly to questions we later had. We highly recommend her apartment! One of the best we have stayed in.
