Dynamite, an apt name for this little gem
We spent a lovely week at Dynamite Beach Cottage this summer. The location is ideal, so near to Rockland, Rockport, Camden, and many mid-coast amenities. The cottage is simple and well kept with everything one needs to relax and enjoy a holiday. The setting is beautiful - very peaceful and quiet. We enjoyed sitting on the porch and watching the view at all times of day. The only small suggestion I would make is to get a better mattress for the single bed. I think I found my happy place and plan to rent it again next summer. The owner, Christine, was very helpful and available.
Vrbo made the whole rental process really easy and seamless. The owners were very good at writing their listing clearly so there was no Miscommunication.
Just a really great experience. We would like to come back next year if possible!
Beautiful Views of Rockland light and a short distance from area restaurants, shopping and sites
The cottage is very rustic. Everything squeaks and grones, but that is part of the charm. We spent a lot of time out on the screened porch enjoying the view. The setting is very quiet. We also enjoyed the fireflys, lighthouse, and stars at night. The place is very clean and was well stocked for what we needed. We eat out a lot.
The only downside was the mosquitos, so be prepared. We lost the Internet, however, Christine was on top of it and got it back quickly.
The only downside was the mosquitos, so be prepared. Great vacation!!!!
Our second visit to Dynamite beach. Meticulous and spacious for our party of 3. Access to the water for snorkeling, kayaking etc. Amazing views especially in the evening. Memorable sunsets. Screened in porch and deck are available for your preference .
This beautiful little place is rustic, but as other reviewers have noted, just watching the harbor from the screen porch or perched in the sun near the beach becomes the entertainment of the day. After a year of the pandemic restrictions, this felt like the perfect reset. Owls Head General Store is also a little treasure.
This is an amazing getaway spot. If you are looking for a place to relax and enjoy the view this is it. Watching the sailboats, schooners and fishing boats is peaceful and fun. This place is rustic and quiet and just plain charming. Can’t wait to return.
A special place. Secluded but near Rockland; overlooking bay and harbor; entrance road through the woods.. Cottage was immaculate--nary even a cobweb. Seemed recently painted. Furnishings were comfortable, well-kept, clean. All amenities for cooking, dining in great shape. New bathroom with tub AND shower. Beds were comfortable. An excellent stay for us 3 people. Mrs. Curtis very helpful, friendly. We'll be back....
We spent most of our week on the truly wonderful screened porch, where the view over Rockland Harbor at sunset is breathtaking. This is the memory I will take away from this place. We loved grilling on the deck outside and having breakfast at the little table outside. The cabin itself felt a little rough around the edges but well equipped for a short stay. Christine was wonderfully communicative and accommodated us for an off-schedule arrival which we greatly appreciated.
A treasure on the coast of Owls Head! The cottage was spotless and well equipped. The owners left several phone numbers in case we had a question The screened in porch and deck provided a comfortable place to view the activities of Rockland Harbor- sailing, lobster boats and amazing views of Breakwater lighthouse. My family went snorkeling several times in the waters in front of the cottage. The sunsets were colorful and the night sky was crystal clear. Rockland is 5 minutes away. It is home for several museums , beautiful shops and lovely restaurants. Made numerous trips to McLoons for the freshest lobster in Maine. Hope to return next summer.
There are not enough words to describe how beautiful the setting of this cottage is. And with a screened porch and big windows, it was difficult to stop sitting and watching all the activity in the harbor. We enjoyed our stay tremendously. The cottage is rustic but very well equipped for all needs. There was an ample supply of wood for the wood stove on the cool nights. The cable service and WiFi worked great. There is so much to do in the Rockland area with many excellent restaurants and a great bakery on Main Street. We even took a picnic lunch to the top of Mount Battie for a wonderful view of Penobscot Bay. If you are looking for a quiet vacation on the most remarkable site, this is the place for you. We fully intend to return. We loved it.
We have been coming here for about twenty years. The view of Rockland harbor and the stunning sunsets are outstanding. The cottage is fairly basic but comfortable, and the owners are great.
We can’t imagine a better place to stay in midcoast Maine. The cottage sits overlooking the water on a large piece of land giving you absolute quiet and privacy. At the same time, if it’s shopping, food or art that you want, you are a 10 minute drive to Rockland and 20 minutes to Camden. We will continue to return to this spot annually.
There are very few places that allow for sitting on a screened porch, watching the harbor activity and the sunset in Maine. If you want to do all of those, this is the place. We visit the cottage yearly and look forward to it every year, starting the day we leave the year before. The cottage has everything, including binoculars! Christine is very responsive and very pleasant to work with. We really love being there.
Wonderful property overlooking the water near Owls Head! Everything needed was provided— including wood for the fire on a cool evening. An absolute lovely cottage with very attentive owners! We hope to stay again in the future!

Peaceful, well-prepared, get-away
This cottage was a very pleasant place to spend a week in September. The porch is heavenly and nature put on some sort of show ever day. It was equipped with everything we needed and there is shopping nearby for food. The first night was a little cool for us southerners, but with the wood stove and the space heaters, we were quite comfortable. There was plenty to do--both Acadia and the Botanical Gardens are within an easy day trip and Rockland and Camden are just minutes away, plus various parks. There is a sand beach less than 10 minutes away--keep you eye on the tides! You are out of the way here, no real traffic to worry about, but not far from anything you might need. The cottage is small; four of us were comfortable, but more than that would have been too cramped. The bathroom and appliances were fine, no problems with any of them or with the grill on the porch. Everything was very clean, plenty of towels and linens provided. The owner has thought of everything and I would be happy to stay here again!

The perfect mix of woods and water!
This was my second stay at this cottage and I will continue to return over and over! The screened in porch is the perfect place to relax... bird watch, boat watch or read when you are fogged in. I enjoy easy access to all that Rockland has to offer and then come back to my peaceful home away from home!

Spectacular view from the comfy screen porch and deck. My happy place!
This is our third year at the Curtis's cottage and we hope to return for many years to come. The setting is quiet, the view exceptional, and the simple cottage has everything one needs for a wonderful vacation in Maine. We love sitting on the porch watching the boats come and go in this little paradise. Rockland is only ten minutes away with good restaurants, galleries, museums, ferries to the islands and more. The owners are always available and helpful. We love it!

Nice small cabin with a stunning view of Rockland Harbor
This is a very nice small cabin. Highlights include a screened deck for the stunning view of Rockland harbor, a location fifty feet from a rocky beach down a steep path, two small bedrooms with double beds, one smaller bedroom with a single bed, a nice stove for fires, easy access to Rockland, Thomaston, and Spruce Head and lovely, efficient and helpful landlords. Drawbacks include one bathroom, a fairly basic kitchen, and a location facing the sunset which often makes it hot in the late afternoon in the summer (although they have added a small air conditioner in the kitchen which also cools the master bedroom). It's comfortable for two people; more than that is pretty tight. We have stayed there for a few weeks every summer for eighteen years and hope to continue to do so.

Fantastic Week!
This was our second visit to Dynamite Beach Cottage and it was just as wonderful as the first. The cottage is fully equipped with everything we could have needed, and Christine is very responsive and wonderful to work with.
Most of our stay consisted of sitting on the screened porch watching Rockland Harbor and the sunsets. It is such a fantastic view and so relaxing. Lobster boats come very close to the property and they liked to wave at us and the dogs as the week went on. We also enjoyed walking on the rocky beach with the dogs and there is just enough yard for the dogs to play.
The cottage is just a few minutes from town, and there are many restaurants for eating in or taking out. There are also several places to buy groceries to cook in the completely stocked kitchen at the cottage. We rode on a lobster boat with the dogs and also went on a puffin tour. But we were always happy to get back to the cottage for more harbor-watching and relaxing. We are looking forward to our next stay!

Charming cottage for the two of us.
Great views overlooking Rockland Harbor, working Lobster Boats with beautiful sunsets. Convenient to numerous fishing villages and light houses. Our first visit to Maine and couldn’t have asked for a better first experience.

Idyllic spot
This was my second visit to this idyllic spot with a glorious view. The comfy, well kept cottage is located in a lovely private spot at the end of a dirt road with a view over to the bustling town of Rockland. It has everything one needs to enjoy a seaside vacation. It has become my happy place!

You can feel perfectly content watching lobster boats and loons all day!
Loved everything about this house... the location, the rooms and especially the screened-in porch. I have been renting in Owl's Head for many years and this was delightful!

A little quirky cottage, away from it all, with a million dollar view.
The cottage is rustic, and quirky, with all the basics of home. No A/c, but it was the last week of August and we did not miss it. Located at the end of a gravel dirt road, and right on Rockland Harbor, if you are looking for peace and quiet, and a million dollar view, this is the place! The owner, Christine, was as helpful as could be, and we really just loved the entire experience. Our first visit to Maine, we drove up from our home in the Shenandoah Valley. Tho the cottage is "away from it all" it was only a few miles from the town of Rockland, where we could pick up everything and anything we needed. I think we spent 90 % of our time on the beautiful screened in porch overlooking the harbor. If you must go out and about there are many interesting places close by, including The Transportation Museum, the Marshall Point lighthouse, the Farnsworth Museum (Wyeth) and many, many interesting shops. Don't miss the 7 Napkin Burger at the Owls Head general store, and breakfast or lunch at Keags store just down the road on 73. We HIGHLY recommend this property. We will probably go back again, perhaps in the Fall next time, just to experience a different season in Maine.

Great Location
We enjoyed our stay at the cottage very much. Christine, the owner, was very helpful. The cottage sits directly on the water. Our favorite thing was to sit on the lovely screened deck and watch the lobster boats, the many sailboats and the Rockland Light. We saw eagles and loons. It was so very peaceful. The sunsets were spectacular. The cottage is very close to Rockland all that town has to offer.
