About this property

Comfy Country Condo (West) on 10 Acres between Bozeman & Big Sky

Welcome to ASPEN GROVE VACATION CONDOS - West Condo!

Conveniently located between Bozeman and Big Sky!!!

Two condos are available for you to choose among. This listing is for our WEST CONDO. Our East Condo is also 2BD/2BA and sleeps 6, and is listed under # 2296575. Rent one, the other or both!!! The condos have a double lockout door between them so you can easily open the doors and enjoy the entire area. If you choose to rent both condos, please contact us prior to booking and we will provide an additional 10% off!

Aspen Grove is licensed, as required through the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services, under License No. 301252.

This is a perfect, centrally located hub for your stay when traveling in the area for a vacation; wedding; family reunion; rafting; skiing, hunting or fishing trip; interim housing; or business dealings.

The condo is one level with a private entrance and porch. In addition, there is a washer & dryer for your use. Handicapped entrance is via a ramp into the Yellowstone Room.

Your accommodations are uniquely decorated to showcase the history and charm of Montana. Each great room contains a sitting area with hide-a-bed, dining area and kitchen. Bedrooms are spacious with private bathrooms and a small table and chairs.

The WEST CONDO, with ~ 1150sf, has 2 bedrooms with private baths. The Sportsman Bedroom has a queen sized Mission-style bed with tub/shower in the bath. The Yellowstone Bedroom has a king sized log bed with handicapped accessible walk-in shower in the bath. As a special addition, the Great Room has an electric stove for heat and ambiance.

Your accommodations have magnificent views of the Spanish Peaks to the south and Bridger Range to the north. There is also a 40 acre park with stream nearby and a walking path along the irrigation canal (sorry - no fish).

Our biggest attraction, of course is historic Yellowstone National Park. We are also a relatively short drive to national forests; Gallatin, Yellowstone and Madison Rivers; Lewis and Clark Trail; museums and art galleries; Montana State University; Big Sky, Moonlight Basin and Bridger Bowl Ski Areas, horseback riding, golfing Lewis & Clark Caverns and much more.

For a little peace and quiet, step right outside your door onto 10 grass covered acres with 250 spruce trees - enjoy as you wish!

For a vigorous walk or run, take off on our graveled road and trek 1+ miles to the top of our hill. Moose, deer, elk, fox, coyotes, bear, mountain lion, wolves, woodchucks gophers and a number of bird species have been seen the area - some more frequent & some less frequent! (Thank goodness!)

If you want a winter get-away, consider x-country skiing right from your front door, in West Yellowstone, on trails around Bozeman and near Bridger Bowl. You can also head to the mountains for downhill skiing at Bridger Bowl, Big Sky, or Moonlight Basin. There is also ice skating, sledding, hot springs and snowmobiling nearby.

Testimonials from our Guest Book: (1) What a fun place you have! The views are incredible. Beds are so comfy too! Linda, Spring Vale, CA. (2) Thanks for these wonderful rooms for the family reunion. I found some good friends in your guest book from Connecticut. Peter and Frances, Old Greenwich, CT. (3) Lloyd, you are the best! Your place is warm and cozy and a perfect place to stay. Roger, Leeds, ND. (4) This place has been perfect - just what I was looking for - a comfortable place for the family to gather and relax during our wedding festivities. You have been so very gracious. Many thanks. Kaye, Victor, MT.

Ski weekend
Lloyd and Alice are very nice people.Two issues: (1) the wi fi did not work; and (2) after a heavy rain the last night, there was a leak dripping through the ceiling in one of the bedrooms.Lots of land between properties. Very private area.

Nice family vacation location.
The property is very nice. Location is in the country but still close enough to local attractions and the Bozeman Park system and MSU! There is a very quiet and peaceful atmosphere here, we even saw 4 mule deer in the yard one night! We enjoyed our vacation very much.

Aspen Grove summer 2024 stay
First time to Montana. Aspen Grove was a wonderful and beautiful location about 10 South of Bozeman. Apartment was very roomy 2 bedroom (both Masters) facility. Living room/kitchen/dinning room was also very roomy. Apartment was stocked with supplies. Washer/Dryer full size. Drive to Yellowstone was beautiful....but 75 minutes. We were very happy with property. Lloyd and Alice were wonderful hosts.

Beautiful sanctuary
Myself and two daughters stayed here as an antidote to a visit to see my sister, who passed away while we were there. The sunsets were gorgeous. We awoke to beautiful mountain views each day. Cute little prairie dogs played cashes games on the lawn. Mother and baby elk visited as well. We could not have had a better place to come back to each day to soothe our hearts and souls. Lloyd and Alice were responsive and really helpful. We will go back again!!!!

Cool Nights
We enjoyed our stay in the cool temps of Montana. The retreat was great. A little disappointed the hot tub and up stairs porches were not part of the rental. I just didn't read close enough.

Fantastic week in the mountains
The property was perfect for a family reunion (6 adults and 4 teens). We rented both the condos. Lloyd and Alice were knowledgeable and very responsive ahead of the stay itself to help us plan our activities in advance. Lloyd was on site and provided lots of good info about the local sights and history. The location of the property was ideal for us - close enough to Yellowstone and Big Sky but far enough to feel like we were away from tourists. Don't miss the Beartooth highway drive if you go in summer - plan to spend a full day doing the loop.

The Best of Both Worlds
Just 22 minutes from downtown this place gave us the feel of Montana country quiet while close to Bozeman's great activities. It is hosted by very kind and efficient owners that make sure your stay is home-like. The two bedroom two bath "condo" is spacious and well equipped. We had a little after graduation brunch for 10 and only needed two folding chairs. We also were able to enjoy walking on well maintained country roads out the front door. What a special weekend!

Beautiful setting - home on the range feel - peaceful
We recently stayed in one of the condos at Lloyd and Alice's place and let me tell you it was a very relaxing time. The amenities were excellent and the location was perfect for our stay. We travelled to the Bozeman area for a family reunion and a short site seeing vacation. My mom, aunt and I had a fantastic time and were so glad we chose this place over a hotel. It's in a beautiful, central location and we felt like we were home. Lloyd and Alice are great hosts and it's obvious the pride they have in their piece of Montana. We will be back and plan on staying here again. Thank you Lloyd and Alice! Best regards: Deanne Jennings, Dolores Buckingham, Patty Chaplin - Vancouver, WA USA

Fantastic condo, location and vacation...
We were very satisfied with the vacation rental. The unit is in great shape and the views were awesome. The unit was quiet, clean and tastefully decorated with plenty of amenities provided. The condo layout was very comfortable and one which allows two couples to enjoy their own privacy. The living area and patio were great places to relax and enjoy your morning coffee. The kitchen was well equipped. The location of the condo is great; it’s only a 15 minute drive to Bozeman and about a 40 minute drive to Big Sky. Close by there are many trails to hike and plenty of other outdoor activities to keep friends/family busy for as long as you plan to stay. Owners, Alice and Lloyd, make a great team. They’re readily available if needed, helpful and fantastic folks in every way possible.

Excellent views and peace and quiet await
The views and peace and quiet make this rental. Overall I would stay here again, and I would recommend this place. By the picture, we were under the impression we were going to be able to enjoy the porch. The patio below the deck, however, is what condo guests get to use, and is quite nice. The condo is great for family trips. We had three couples up and it was plenty of room and offered plenty of privacy as needed. Lloyd and Alice are hospitable. Lloyd provides great suggestions of sights to see during your stay. The accommodations are charming and comfortable. The owners are happy to provide items that may not regularly be available in the condo, if easily accessible. There are plenty of sheets, towels, dishes. Some items are out of date/worn. The refrigerator in one of the condos needs to be packed precisely so that it closes. It also appears like someone might have put something hot in there because part of it doesn't seem clean, but came to the conclusion it's stained. The people before us didn't clean their dishes very well and put them up in the cupboard, so we had to wash some of the dishes prior to use.

Comfortable & Relaxing Stay in Gallatin Gateway
We had 4 couples and 3 children in two adjoining apartments for several days of New Years celebrations and activities. The great thing about the adjoining apartment was that we could put the kids to bed and the adults could still stay up, play games, have cocktails, etc. It was also nice for early mornings when some of the group got up early to drive up to Big Sky but others were sleeping in. Another really great amenity was the use of the washer and dryer. With that many people and all of the cooking, it was really helpful to have this access. In addition, the wifi worked really well. The location worked really well for us because some of our group wanted to spend time in Bozeman and others were going up to ski. We also took advantage of the Bozeman hot springs just down the road. Each bedroom has their own bathroom. There are extra sheets and plenty of towels. The radiant floor heat made the temperature in the house perfectly comfortable. The only less than positive comment I can make is that the kitchen didn't contain some of the basic items that we needed for cooking. With that many bedrooms and the ability to house that many people we expected to have enough glasses, baking dishes, cookware and utensils. I would definitely suggest these apartments to anyone that is looking for a home in this general location.

Gallatin Gateway
My husband and I stayed in the west condo for five weeks and were quite comfortable. We found the pictures of this property to be a true representation. Both bedrooms are a good size, the kitchen, dining and living areas are very usable and the laundry is easily accessible, with soap, etc. provided. While the weather didn't cooperate the way we would have liked for skiing, we explored some of the local hikes (Lava Lake hike was especially beautiful), visited Yellowstone, and explored Bozeman on days we didn't ski. Lloyd checked in with us on a regular basis to see if we needed anything. Early on in the stay, the TV and remote quit talking to each other and Lloyd got that taken care of quickly. We will consider this condo again if we get back this way again.

About the host

Hosted by Alice & Lloyd, Gallatin Gateway, MT

Host profile image
Alice came to Montana more than 45 years ago to attend graduate school at Montana State University. She loved it so much that she was determined to return when she retired.

Lloyd met Alice in Nebraska. Alice's only requirement for getting married was that Lloyd had to be willing to move to Montana when they retired. So here we are!!!

We each have a PhD in soil physics and enjoyed careers working in agricultural and environmental research and extension.

Lloyd was a federal agricultural scientist in Nebraska and conducted research on rainfall - induced soil detachment, animal waste management, irrigation management, conservation tillage, soil compaction and soil quality.

Alice was a professor at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. She conducted most of her research on farm fields specializing in rain - induced soil erosion on steep hillsides, soil compaction, reduced tillage systems, and crop production under drought conditions. Her work as a state extension specialist focused on translating research results on the above (and associated) topics into useful information for farmers, ranchers, agricultural companies, and local, state and federal agency personnel.

She also served with the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C. for two years. First as a Water Quality Grant Manager and then as the National Director of the Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program (SARE).

We love all four seasons here in Montana and shy away from becoming snowbirds! However, we do enjoy traveling around Montana when we have the time.

Many of our Montana travels coincide with visits from our grandson. He is a real outdoorsman and a fantastic photographer - just check out his photos on this listing. Our son is a busy restaurant manager in Houston and our daughter keeps busy in Nebraska with her school-teacher husband. All travel here to the mountains as often as their schedules allow.

Why they chose this property

Montana is very, very special to us and we truly enjoy sharing it with others,

We came home to Montana when we retired and had the opportunity to purchase this property. After a near total renovation, we get to provide traditional Western hospitality to our guests.

Coming 'home' meant living in the country on 10 acres of land we had purchased in 1990. The house is another story!

We renovated the house because we moved it (yes, in one piece) from Gallatin Gateway proper to our little piece of paradise. It took about 4 hours to haul it 4 miles.

So, here we are in the middle of the mountains, rivers, parks and national forests of the Rocky Mountains but near to Bozeman - an exploding medical, cultural, commercial,, university and hi-tech community.

It is definitely the BIG SKY at its best!

What makes this property unique

LOCATION! LOCATION!! LOCATION!!!

* Central location;
* Quiet country setting;
* Modern facilities;
* Great hospitallity

This is what you get at the Aspen Grove according to our guests. Read them for yourself!! Otherwise, come, stay and read our Guest Registry.

Most of our clients want to travel around the area to see historical and cultural sites, recreate, tour Yellowstone National Park as well as sight see and shop in Bozeman. Our central location allows you to get to most of these activities in 15 minutes to one hour.

Is it quiet here? You bet! Come and listen to our 'silence and serenity'. We are located in an agricultural subdivision with about 30 homes on 600 acres. You can meander throughout our property and enjoy the canal, gardens, aspen groves, and 250 spruce trees. For the hearty, take a walk or run on Lower and Upper Tom Burke Roads. If you want to sit in the trees and listen to a creek, visit our 40 acre private park.

Your modern country condos were newly built in 2001-2002. While the rooms are homey and have some family antiques, you have radiant in-floor hot water heat, private entrances, ceiling fans, all the amenities of home and cool summer nights due to Montana air and the recycled wood deck above your patio. No need for air conditioning but you might want a sweater!

This VRBO site is a good reflection of us and our hospitality. Also, when you stay here, Lloyd is a bottomless pit when it comes to information about anything in SW Montana. We consider it an honor to share our information.

If you want Bozeman or Big Sky right outside your doorstep, the Aspen Grove Vacation Condos are not for you.

But if you are willing to have city life just 15-20 minutes away as well as an extensive array of activities within an hour's drive, Aspen Grove might just be the place for you.

Thanks for giving us this opportunity to share with you. We hope to earn your business!
