Scenic, remote location that’s perfectly located close to Camden, Rockport, Rockland, and Acadia.
Very comfortable and had everything I needed. Highly recommend!
Spent 4 great days at the “Bunkhouse “ and it was really nice. Quiet with great views over the water. This is a really nice rustic cabin. The roads leading in are in good shape but are gravel in places. Not a problem but be aware.
Would highly recommend for a couple.
We so enjoyed our week at this wonderful peaceful setting on Lermond Pond, and the cottage had everything you would need. Laura was a great host and communicator and offered several suggestions of restaurants to try and nearby attractions to check out. We would not hesitate to stay there again.

We had beautiful weather, and our stay was very pleasant
Nice little waterfront cottage. It was clean, comfortable, and peaceful. Just what we were hoping for.
A peaceful and beautiful cottage nestled a few feet from the water's edge. Everything you need for a relaxing stay to recharge and revive was provided. A good nights sleep is guaranteed in a very comfortable bed and the cottage was well equipped, including comfortable chairs inside and out to enjoy the view and the calls of the loons.
Our goal in staying here was to unwind and recover from a very hard and stressful eighteen months and this place did not disappoint. Definitely ten out of ten stars! And Laura was so very wonderful and patient, especially with all of our questions. Laura is simply a very nice lady and a great host. It was the best vacation we have ever had and we definitely plan on going back.
What an amazing place to relax and unwind! The hosts, Laura & Blaine thought of everything to make sure we had the best stay! From the amazing views from the cottage to listening to the loons on the dock, we couldn’t have enjoyed ourselves more! Highly recommend!!
Perfect place to work while gazing out at the beautiful lake. Loved the comfort and decor. Easy communication with the owner. Her dogs were great, too, and came to check on me periodically. I plan on returning.
Me spouse and I spent 8 days at the Bunkhouse. It's a great waterfront cabin. Check in was simple. There is a comfortable king size bed. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking.
Also a nice Weber gas grill on the the porch.
The town of Hope is well located. We hiked several of the nearby trails. We made trips into Union, Belfast. Camden, Rockport, and Rockland.
Found the area has some good restaurants.
Overall very enjoyable.
This was our 1st time visiting Maine and I will have to say, this little cottage was the perfect little getaway spot; so cozy and peaceful. The view was amazing, right from the living room. Laura was a great host! She text us first thing morning of check in with a video of how to get to the property, which was perfect when arriving in the dark. She answered quickly to any questions we had and followed up with us about our lost luggage. The cottage was clean and had everything we needed. Such a perfect place to unwind and recharge. Would definitely stay again!
What a sweet little cottage. The view and having the lake just outside the living room was so peaceful. There was another little living room space at the back of the cottage, however, never even used it. With this view you don’t need it. The cottage has every thing we needed. Will definitely rent again when in the area. Thank you.
As we were bringing in our luggage, we were greeted with a friendly "hello" from her deck. Laura made us feel welcomed from the start, and then her husband, Blaine, came out to join her. Within a few minutes, Gus came down to meet us. Gus is a Bernadoodle who is part of the welcoming committee.
The cabin is small, yes, but very clean, efficient, and homey. Our favorite part was the view of the lake...can be easily seen whether you are at the table or sitting on the sofa. So close you can almost touch the water from the steps.
Thank you, Laura and Blaine for allowing us and many others to enjoy this part of Maine, the way life should be.
Give our best to Gus and Gracey (her Corgy). Hope to see you next year!
My husband and I stayed in this lovely, comfortable and quiet cottage for a week in September. While the weather did not cooperate, we had a wonderful time just relaxing and napping and reading. Just what we needed to recharge. The Bunkhouse is very well appointed, with very comfortable furniture and a cozy big bed, lovely big shower and bathroom for a little cottage. Laura is very nice and helpful she got right back to me when I had a question. Once it stopped raining we could also look forward to visits form Gus the dog! he is a sweetie! There are plenty of restaurants within about a 20 minute drive and the lovely towns of Camden, Rockland and Belfast to visit. We had a wonderful time and would definitely book again.
This is our 2nd stay at the Bunkhouse. The perfect location and perfect hosts. The weather wasn’t that favorable but it didn’t matter. We still enjoyed what the area offered. Laura suggested going to the Botanical Garden in which we did. Well worth it. The highlight of our stay was Laura’s dog, Gus. He started our day with a visit in the morning and ended our day with a visit at night. Such a bonus! Looking forward to another stay at the Bunkhouse.
What a wonderful little retreat, literally steps from the water! Convenient location for outings to Camden and Acadia. Could not ask for a more serene environment to start the day with a cup of coffee and end each one with a glass of wine on the dock or by the fire. You are completely surrounded by the beauty of nature and the cabin has everything you need. Laura was super helpful! Would highly recommend for a couple looking to connect and recharge.
Perfect stay at thoughtfully designed cabin home right on beautiful lake and deck with canoe; modern appliances and other charms (games, firepit, etc) Hosts were responsive and welcoming, as was Gus their dog. We would definitely stay again.
This place is EXACTLY what we needed. The cabin is a great size, super cozy and comfortable. Very clean and stocked with necessities as well as games and puzzles, a large TV and plenty of spaces to curl up with a book, or like we did, just sit and soak in the beauty. Quiet, but we were early in the season. The owners are close by for anything you need, even gave us some really great recommendations. They are a very cool couple who know so much about the area! We wanted a getaway, in a cabin on a lake/pond, where we could relax and listen to the loons, and this place DELIVERED.
My GF and I spent 3 nights at this cottage and enjoyed every second. Whether sitting on the dock, by the Firepit or exploring some of the local seaside towns it was an awesome time.
There is nothing more that can be said about this property and stay than perfect. Everything the owners have claimed to be is exactly that. A very clean and comfortable house that is two steps from the water. My spouse and I stayed for 3 days and we only left the house/lake for about 3 hours.
We enjoyed the quiet warm interior with views of the lake while we relaxed and read. We took the canoe out twice across the lake which was calm and full of wildlife. Saw many ducks, geese, a beaver swimming about, and a hawk snagging some prey. The outdoor seating was a treat on a sunny 70 degree day.
There is a separate tv room behind the front room for some privacy. The kitchen is fully stocked to address any cooking need. We also took advantage of the washer and dryer to catch up on laundry from our long northeast vacation.
I would suggest this property is most ideal for a single or couple. A third could be comfortable but the sleeping arrangements for that person wouldn't be ideal. Secondly, the location of the bathroom is adjacent to the bedroom and may be intrusive if you are using while others are sleeping.
My only complaint for the entire stay is that the right side of the bed is too soft. It felt as though the bed may be worn out on that side as the rest was much firmer. But I sank into the bed quite a bit on the right side and would prefer some support. Fortunately, I was so relaxed from the stay that I was still able to get good sleep.
We will try to book this accommodation again if we come back. Wouldn't consider another place over this one for my spouse and I in the area.
This cabin was a wonderful place to stay. It's close (20 minutes) from Camden and Rockport, but remote. It's got a wonderful view through a huge sliding glass door of a small lake, a dock, canoe, patio, and fire pit.
The king size bed is incredibly soft (maybe too soft?), the bath room is small but modern, and the kitchen had everything we needed. This is a two-person cabin.
The hosts live on-site (the cabin is between their home and the lake), were pleasant to talk to the one time we ran into them, and were otherwise non-invasive. I didn't need to ask them for any help, but my sense is that they would have jumped on any problems that had arisen.
If we find ourselves in this area and without the kids again, we'll definitly stay here again.
Laura is the perfect host and the property is wonderful. So peaceful and we are happy to just sit and look at the lake, but it is so close to Camden and Rockland that there is also plenty to explore nearby. Everything is spotless and the cottage is stocked with everything you might need. Can't wait to come back next year!
This is a perfect VRBO for a couple. Comfy king size bed, quaint & homey decor, compact kitchen with dishwasher &!full-size refrigerator, updated shower, washer & dryer, outdoor grill . . . Offering the best view of Alfred Pond (really a lake) steps from the door. Close to Camden and Rockland. Second time that we have rented the place. Thumbs way up!
A charming, light-filled cabin at the water's edge
We thoroughly enjoyed our 5-day stay in this charming, light-filled cabin at the water's edge. The music of the loons was wonderfully evocative, we were surrounded by greenery, the small kitchen was remarkably well-equipped, the king-size bed comfortable, and the furnishings eclectic and cozy. The dock and the watercraft were a plus. The sense of seclusion was palpable. And to top it all, Laura graciously located something we left behind and mailed it back to us. Two thumbs up on this one!
