This place is a gem, best deal in the area. It’s big and has 4 beds, a couch, a rocking chair and a table that can seat 6. There are also outdoor tables and a charcoal grill. The place is very clean and the kitchen is well equipped with pots, utensils, and plates, there’s even a deep fryer and a crockpot. There’s only 2 restaurants in town so this was a must for us. The beds are comfortable and there are plenty of blankets. The bathroom has plenty of linens and the washer and dryer are new. It sits close to town but it sits on a large property and there are plenty of birds all over. I would definitely recommend this place and will probably return.
Great views and super nice host. Highly recommend. Although not huge it Is set up for 6-8 guests. Very reasonable.

Love the homey feeling of Jasper and this place was everything we hoped for. Got to hike a little with my 4 kids before the rain moved in, but the Ozark cafe up the road was delicious as always and getting to hunker down, play board games, watch movies and just relax was a perfect way to spend the second leg of our trip. The kids kept asking on our way home, when we can go back? So we definitely will be visiting again!
Stay here if you appreciate good old fashioned hospitality
Everything about the rental was perfect but the surprise was the hospitality. We didn’t get to visit with Thelma as much as we would have liked, she has a busy schedule, but we did get to visit with her son Brian quite a bit. Between Brian and the family dog, “Scout,” we felt instantly right at home. He is very interesting to talk to and “Scout’s” adorable low key demeanor is absolutely heartwarming. Brian was very respectful of our “mission” for being there and he seemed able to sense that we enjoyed talking with him so much that we would lose track of our “mission,” (sightseeing), and could have easily spent the day gabbing with him and messing with “Scout” instead of doing what we came for. As a result, it was as if he would keep the morning visits brief, making sure that our stay was comfortable and letting us get on the road before we started “burning daylight” with more gabbing. After our day full of breathtaking scenery, we looked forward to returning to the bunk house for another helping of the hospitality that Brian and Scout provided. I’ve made many trips to the Ozarks and always love going there, but this was the best trip ever. There is a guest book there, and after reading some of the comments, it seems that my experience is very similar to those who stayed there before us. I will be returning for another “heaping helping” of the good old fashioned hospitality that they are serving there just as soon as I am able.
I really enjoyed staying at the Buffalo Bunk House. It is a very spacious facility with all kinds of room and it is well stocked with all kinds of cookware. I was very comfortable there. The bunkhouse has several beds and would be an ideal location for a large family. Thelma the owner is a great host and on top of all that it is also affordable.

Not a cabin
Good place for multiple people. But definitely not a cabin, nor rustic. Very close to owners house right next door.
Comfortable, clean, well-outfitted kitchen, good location (even during a snowstorm!). Thelma, and Brian (and Scout) are on-site and friendly, knowledgeable and willing to share their insights re the area and people. Thanks!... I hope to be back with friends sometime this spring or summer...
This was our first time staying at the Bunk House, and it was GREAT! We had a full kitchen, 4 beds that were clean and comfortable, and the owners were pleasant. I would recommend this property to anyone who is looking for comfortable accomodations in Jasper!

My Experience at The Bunkhouse
I was highly irrational that the owner and another person lives on the same property . It was a 1980s home on the inside . There were so many rules that I felt like I was at my moms house. I didn’t feel comfortable . The outside lights drew so many bugs that you couldn’t eat outside. I just wasn’t happy with it.
It was great place to stay for a short amount of time. The yard was large for the kids to play in. The property was really close to a creek. The kitchen was fully equipped which made cooking meals easy. Plus the owners were very friendly!
Great place to stay. Quiet and relaxing was what we were looking for and that's just what we got.... The place was clean, comfortable and Ms. Thelma was so nice. We plan to return with our family.

About the host
Hosted by Thelma Pruitt
My family goes back 5 generations in Newton County. After high school, I married Avery Pruitt and we built our home on a section of the Pruitt farmstead. I attended college when our children were pre-school and I served as center director/teacher for the local Headstart program for 13 years. I then managed our family trucking business for 10 years. I'm currently working as instrutional assistant at Jasper Public Schools.
Why they chose this property
Avery Pruitt was born and raised on this section of the Pruitt farmstead - a fifth generation in the Pruitt lineage. The place is decorated with family heirlooms, reminiscent of earlier times. I live in the home we built in 1964, ready to welcome family, friends and guests to the Buffalo River Bunkhouse.
What makes this property unique
Every morning when I awake, I'm reminded that I live in paradise, and I welcome guests to share the quiet and the pastoral scenery of the Little Buffalo River valley just one mile East of Jasper, AR on Hwy. 74 EAST.
