Great Home in Great Location

Very nice home in a great quiet location. Pool is lovely. The beach is not a swimming beach but is cleaned daily by the on-site caretaker. Would absolutely stay here again.

Secluded and comfortable home base

We had a great time at Casa Redonda. It is in a secluded area of the island, which was nice because San Pedro has become quite a busy town. But even so we found plenty of things to do on our end of the island a short golf cart ride away. The pool was perfectly refreshing, and Brian took great care of the grounds including the small shoreline. Housekeeping and meal service was also excellent.

great stay

The property is beautiful, great pool, great views. Bryan and Cynthia were wonderful, very good at their jobs. Only drawback is a bit far from town using golf carts on the interesting roads. Loved Someplace South as a close restaurant and the mini-mart had quick pick items. Would have been nice to have had a few basic spices and also directions on how to operate the TV.

Wonderful vacation

We had a fantastic week here at Casa Redonda. Dinner by Marfa, great attention by David, excellent diving with Carlos at Suya tours. We arranged a morning of spearfishing (he did the fishing...we snorkeled) and he cooked us a snapper/lobster lunch on the bbq by the pool. Would consider renting this house again. The only downside, literally, is that the beds are hard as rocks.

Breath Taking....

We went in October and the weather was great. Plenty of room for the 2 other couples we took. Clean and comfortable. Pool was sweet, peaceful, quiet and right on the ocean but no beach. Service was excellant and friendly. Marfa was helpful and did the dishes and laundry for us... The tour company was great and Shark Ray Alley is awesome, must go... Get a golf cart it's worth it. The worst thing about the place is the garbadge dump smell but it's worth it... I will be back soon and next time we will be taking the kids because it is sooooooo beautiful. The best vacation ever and awesome snorkeling and diving.. I will be back

Casa Redonda

The house was just OK it really needs some update. Beds were great it has just a minimum for cooking utensils there was no phone no stereo system and no DVD . Tv was good with channels to US so you could keep up with back home wifi good also. No where could we find the bike even though we didn’t ask. The house keepers were very helpful and much appreciated you couldn’t ask for two wonderful people really really appreciate them. Thank you for those two very good at there job. People talk about bugs hardly saw any just a few bites. The island people are very nice to visit with and the island is pretty cleaned up. Our group as been to most of the Caribbean islands to North Pacific and South Pacific and the most impressive thing about Belize water is how clear it was absolutely clear. Thank you for a good trip.

Unforgettable Trip

We had a wonderful time in Belize! Mary helped us with getting there and the basics and once in property Alex & Alena made us feel at home. The outside space is beautiful and we spent basically all our time in the pool, lounge chairs and fishing from the dock when home. The rooms are nicely spread out so there is plenty of space. The owners were very responsive and fast communication. Thank you for a wonderful birthday.

Fabulous house with outstanding view, pool and ground

Our family of 5 stayed at Casa Redonda for four nights. There were four bedrooms and enough space for everyone in the house and outside. It has a large pool that is well-maintained by the staff (more on that below), several hammocks between coconut trees, a private and rustic palm tree roofed hut that has a beautiful view of the emerald ocean, a long private dock with another (and bigger) hut at the end where one can fish, read or just hang out. I can't think of anything more that a vacationing family would want that the property and its grounds don't provide. What clinched the deal for us was the fabulous service by the caretakers, Elena and Alex, who live in the back of the property. They take care of the house and the grounds every day. They were very accommodating, cheerful and solicitous. Alex even climbed up the coconut trees on the property to get coconuts and gave us all the coconut water and fruit we wanted. Having stayed at many homes on our vacation using Homeaway or other rental services, having 24/7 on-site caretakers is rare, much less having caretakers who are so friendly and helpful. As for the house, there are four bedrooms and two full bathrooms in addition to a large room that is a combination kitchen, living room, sitting room and dining room. The house is definitely not new and could use a fresh coat of paint, a bit of elbow grease and a weekend of a handyman for little things. Ultimately, this is someone's home, not a 5-star resort hotel suite. There are too many good things about the property, esp. its grounds that rivaled an upscale resort and at the price point, that we are giving our hearty 5 stars for its grounds, value and caretakers. The location of the property may be a plus for some and a minus for others. It is located about 3 1/2 miles south of the town center in San Pedro. It is quiet, isolated and away from outside distractions. However, the trip to the town center in a golf cart (the primary mode of transportation) is on a little-traveled dusty, bumpy road and long. It took us about 20 minutes to get to the town center each way. There are only two dining options nearby - Lone Star Grill (excellent Tex-Mex food and service despite its very "rustic" appearance) and Black Orchids Restaurant (a beautiful space with food that seems more in line with Wisconsin supper clubs, which, again, could be a good thing for some and not so great for others).

Wonderful Home

From start to finish this experience was top notch! Mary answered every question I had (and there were many) and even made arrangements for us for flights, taxis and golf carts. Caretakers Alex and Elena were wonderful hosts. So kind and friendly. The home is the perfect getaway for any family or group!!

Wonderful Stay

We came to celebrate our daughter's 9th birthday. Eleyna and Alex (the Caretakers) are great. They really made our stay extra special. Alex even helped order a cake for our daughter. He and his wife couldn't be nicer or more helpful. They are invaluable. The dock is nice to be picked up for snorkel/dive trips. The pool is nice. The home is very comfortable. You can't do a lot of great snorkeling off the dock (at least in our opinion, but, you can swim.) We recommend chartering a smaller boat for snorkel/dive trips. If you are an experienced snorkeler/diver, you don't want to be in a big group (some people can't swim very well.) So after figuring that out, we were able to take a smaller boat out (through Ramon's) and we rented a Kayak one day from Lisa's kayaks and did our own thing which was wonderful. You definitely need to rent a golf cart to get around anywhere. This was my 3rd time to Belize, but, first on Ambergris Caye. We felt very cared for and the owner is reliable. We don't think Secret Beach is worth the hike, but, we are not party-people. We just came to swim and snorkel and free dive as much as possible. It is pretty there, but, basically it seems a place for people to drink and eat in/near the water. We could swim around the reef every day of our lives. Beautiful. This house was a perfect place to nest and sleep and be comfortable and swim in the pool and feel safe and peaceful. The two restaurants closest to the house (Black Orchid and Long Horn?) were great. Really delicious. The best place we ate our entire time there, though, was Aji's. Its a bit of a hike on a golf cart, but, worth it. Get the paella! We would highly recommend this home and hope to come again!

the house was great!! but still have a few thingthings to change

first of all the house was great. the pictures really do a great job of telling you how the house is. we loved the house keepers!!! always where helpfull and they did a great job of keeping everything clean and where always there to help you out with any of your needs. with that said ,here are a few things to think about before renting this place out. 1. this house is far away from anything!!! so if you show up in the dark the first day. your wondering why your driving so far away from the airport. 2. this house runs off of rain water!! that's not a bad thing but we did have a hard time getting any hot water during are shower time. 3. didn't really like the air conditioning. everybedroom had one, some nights they worked great and others you couldn't get the things to work, also the living room didn't have one and that made things hot for us and hard to hang out as a family while we where cooking. the beds where the most uncomfortable beds. I had the masterbed room and I had to get three massages to try to stop the pain in my neck and back from sleeping in that bed. 4.the last thing this is that you do have Neighbors on both side of you. that's not a bad thing but you kind of share the pool and the walkout convena with them. all and all this place was great . I just don't think I will be coming back. seems a little over peiced and Belize in general is really expensive to go to and is really far away. so I had fun, but won't be coming back. thanks

An incredible view and peaceful vacation!

We spent 6 days at Casa Redonda and had a great time. Mary was fantastic in helping us with some planning details and Elana and Alex the caretakers were awesome, so kind and helpful. We had some unique issues which we needed help with and they were incredibly helpful. Alex cut the tops off some coconuts for us to enjoy! A golf cart is a must, also having cash is important many places do not accept cc. The beds were comfortable and the AC worked great. We did not find the bugs much of a hassle as others had described, if you travel to tropical areas one expects to have sugar ants, mosquitos and sand fleas. Deet works well! The breeze was wonderful poolside and really helped to cool us down plus eliminate the pesky mosquitos - they do get much worse after a big rain which we had a couple of storms roll through. The outdoor living area really makes this home with the beautiful view - it's wonderful. The home was peaceful and we really felt like we had the area to ourselves which is awesome! We highly recommend Casa Redonda!

Fantastic Vacation!!!

My husband and I spent a wonderful week with 4 of our best friends at Casa Redondra. The house is extremely comfortable and had everything we needed. The pool and the view of the ocean was incredible. We used Marfa the cook that was recommended for 7 meals and all of them were spectacular. We were all wishing we had booked more meals with her. Victor the caretaker and his wife were extremely helpful and always available. I would say a golf cart is a must. We rented the 6 person one and had so much fun going to dinner a few nights, shopping, and bar hoping. Check out Island time and their tacos and margerittas. They were delicious. I can truly say this was one of the most amazing vacations I have ever been on. One suggestion would be to spend the extra money and take the 18 minute plane ride from the airport in Belize to San Pedro's instead of the one and a half hours on a boat. We did a boat trip using Suya tours that took us snorkeling and then to a private island to enjoy the fresh fish and conch that our guys driving the boat speared while we snorkeled. It was delicious and so were the sides they prepared. I would definitely do it again.

A Perfect Family Vacation

We stayed at Casa Redondo for 7 nights in July and after planning our vacation for 5 months, it was everything we hoped it would be and more. The house is exactly like the photos which was a relief. The caretaker ELVIS and his son ERWIN and wife were just the most kind, accomodating and efficient family to take care of CR. Erwin, 14, even stayed with my 8 year old son a couple of nights & took him fishing. They were there when we needed them but never in the way. We had 5 adults and 1 child & the bedrooms / living space was perfect for our group. There are 3 cabanas outside and we used all of them. There was so much beautiful outdoor space for everyone to spread out. The grounds are beautifully maintained by Elvis. The pool is kept up daily and Elvis's wife attends to the interior with meticulous detail. There is seagrass in the water at the beach but still some spots that my son played in. The best water is out at the dock, which is why you find docks at most places on the island. Bring or rent your own snorkel, I think CR has one or two. There are some baby sting rays buried in the sand off the dock so be careful! There are bioluminecense at night- magnificent! Erwin has a fishing pole and you can get bait/ sardines by the airport. A larger sign for the house off the road would be helpful (my dad passed it up everytime!) THere is currently construction next door and quite noisy during the day. We were worried about the golf cart ride into town but we rather enjoyed the adventure. It is very easy to get around the island. We LOVED dinners cooked by Marfa, and she gave us all massages one afternoon. She babysits too! I recommend having her stock the fridge before you arrive. The Tropic Ferry picked us up at the Belize City airport, took us to a restaurant on the water from which the boat took us directly to our dock at Casa Redondo. Island Adventures came out to the house and we negotiated 2 carts for one week for $400 US, when Elvis noticed a flat tire, they repaired it without us even knowing. Mayan ruins south of the Island, take bug spray, $10 us each & no pyramids, but historical & interesting. Use Trip Advisor for restaurants. Ak Bol for Yoga. Beach bars: Hurricanes, Palapa, Wayos. Food: Elvis is best! Black Orchid nice & in the n'hood. Victoria House for drinks, very fancy. Rubi Moon women & girls boutique. For casual to go food: Robins Jamaican in n'hood and Waraguma pupusas and lobster burritos- omg! Use Suya Tours- Daniel was the best guide!!

Colorado/California Contingent

We stayed 3 nights at Casa Redonda (bottom floor only) after a 4 night stay on the mainland in the Jungle. There were 9 of us in our party; 3 children and 6 adults, ages ranged from 7 to 69. My husband and I, our 2 daughters, their husbands, and our 3 grandchildren. We had a fantastic time! We could have lounged by the pool for those 3 days and been perfectly happy. The accommodations were fine for us. The kids stayed in one bedroom and the 3 adult couples had bedrooms to ourselves. Mary was very helpful with arranging for Manolo to pick us up at the water taxi dock. We rented golf carts while we were there, strongly advised, and had a bouncing good time tooling around the island on these. Elvis and his son were very helpful and attentive to our needs, cleaned the pool and the grounds every day. Maria was terrific at cleaning the house every day and folding our laundry if she found any in the dryer. We also booked Suya tours on our last day there and they took us snorkling, then drove us to a small island for lunch and took us right to the hotel dock in Belize City where we were staying our last night before departing for home the next morning. Luckily, while we were there, it was quite windy so we were hardly bothered by misquitos. There were a few flies. There are flies and misquitos where we live in the states as well. We had no problem with garbage dump smells. I would highly recommend Casa Redonda as a wonderful place to visit. Thanks to all the staff for such an enjoyable vacation.

Absolute Paradise!!!

This place is amazing! Has every comfort you'd possibly need the staff is attentive and courteous! Anything you ask for they are happy to help you; this is true in all of Belize! The local people are so friendly and do not harass or hassle you to buy things but are very helpful when you inquire. The house and grounds are immaculately cared for and comfortable. The house is clean and the beds are comfortable, complete with rain shower heads in the shower. There is plenty of room to lounge and relax. The pool is very clean and when the waterfall is turned out it is so tranquil. The convenience of the pier cannot be overstated! It was an adventure to get to town on the golf carts which is about a 30 minute ride but when people came and picked us up on the pier for tours it was a dream. Also, I was proposed to on that pier during our stay! My boyfriend and I went out at night to look at the stars and he popped the question :) Belize is a magical place! I HIGHLY recommend Scuba Steve located right across from the water taxi in San Pedro for any and all tours. It is a family operation, as opposed to a commercial type operation, and very competitively priced! They are very welcoming and know the waters like the back of their hand! They are accommodating, professional, and fun! If you're reading this and debating whether to go to Belize- do it! I have traveled to over 40 countries and Belize is amazing! I can't wait to go back- maybe for my honeymoon?! ;)

A Family Gathering

My father booked this trip for him and spouse (our mom) and his four children, their spouses and children. My dad died in September, but we all decided to go anyway and bring his ashes to sprinkle in the Belize waters. We were a group of 12 aged 11- 82. Elvis and Maria were kind and accomplished caretakers, taking care of all our needs. The golf carts that Mary arranged were essential. It was so nice to have a dock where you could be picked up for fishing, scuba, and snorkeling adventures. Suya Tours provided us with fantastic scuba and snorkeling plans. The best snorkel I've ever seen at Hol Chan even in the rain! Marfa, the cook that you can hire, is an excellent cook, like the previous writer expressed and I would definitely recommend her, especially if you are arriving late and you'd to have some dinner and breakfast and you can ask her to pick up whatever food and drink you'd like to have in the house before you make the trip to town (but there is a service charge and you need to pay in cash for her services). BUT it was delicious!! We rented both the top and bottom floors. All nicely decorated. The beds are comfortable. No complaints. Steps are steep and slick to the upstairs if you have folks with those issues (no elevators); but both up and downstairs have kitchens and serving areas. I have been to Mexico and Central America for over 30 years. There are always sand fleas and mosquitos, so get over it....If there is a magical cure, let us know. Find something that will work for you. We used Repel this year and still came home chewed up. We used to use Skin so Soft by Avon. Maybe some cintronella candles? Also my husband is handicapped and has balance issues. Elivs tried to help out with providing a plastic chair for the shower. If you have shower balance needs, bring your own stuff. Final thing, my son left 2 DVDs at the property when we left. My brother stayed an extra day in San Padro, not in the house. I contacted Mary (and even with our lacking cell, phone, text and email..and it was Elvis' day off) Elvis was able to find my brother and bring the DVDs to him. That's great service for you!

Fantastic Holiday!!!!!!!

From the moment we landed everything was organized from golf carts to tours. We were greeted with a very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff. Especially Eldis who went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed. The house was beyond beautiful and the views were spectacular. Casa Redonda certainly exceeded my expectations and we are looking forward to returning next year with our children.
