Lovely property, great host, VRBO PLATFORM THE ONLY ISSUE

Thank you Maureen for sharing your home with us!We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Aptos. The house was well designed and outfitted and the location superb.Unfortunately, VRBO becomes increasingly difficult to deal with, even our property owner was frustrated with them.The rental agreement they required we fill out did not work digitally and was problematic and their fees have become ridiculously high. If you do have an issue during a rental, it is nearly impossible to speak with someone. On a previous rental, they erroneously canceled our reservation when there was an issue and we wound up having to scramble to find accommodations since we were already at our destination.

Perfect for our girls’ weekend getaway!

The house was as described in the online listing and more. There was plenty of space for our group of 5 adult family members. There are wonderful ocean views from both inside on the lower level and from the awesome second floor deck. It was clean and well-stocked. One could not ask for a better location, nor a more helpful and accommodating host.

What was Needed

3 old friends from grammar school getting ready for our 50th HS reunion couldn’t have enjoyed a better place. Warm cozy home, with all you need! A perfect deck to eat and enjoy the sunsets, beautiful views all day long. Thank you so much!

Family Time on the Coast

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with our kids and grandkids at this property which had enough room for us, a spectacular view and was conveniently located near many local attractions. (The cleaning fee seemed a little high given that we tried to leave the house as clean as it was when we arrived, but maybe the charge is typical.) We would definitely recommend to others!

Communication with the owner was great. She responds quickly. However, the cleaning fee was a bit much. Some of the sheets have an odor where we had to wash it before using it.

Best Thanksgiving ever!

Words really can’t describe how great this location is. Located right in front of the ocean, and a block from Sea Cliff Beach. This home accommodated my families Thanksgiving celebration. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything needed to cook. Thank you to Mother Nature, the weather was absolutely beautiful, which just made this trip over the top. Thank you Maureen for opening up your family home to us. We will never forget this Thanksgiving.

Amazing deck and view

The view from the second floor deck is spectacular. The house was well stocked and cozy. Very conveniently located to stores and local eateries. Really enjoyed the experience and the location can't beat.

This property was so cute! It was fully stocked with everything you would possibly need! Beautiful balcony view of the ocean. We watched a whale for hours off the balcony. The photos are just as it looks.

Annual Family Fun Time

This is my 6th stay at this lovely and well maintained home. Fabulous view from living room and deck are so enticing you never have to dip your toes in the sand. Sleeping accommodations are perfect for my family. My grandchildren refer to it as their beach house and ask all year long when we get to return.

Aptos Beach House

Beautiful home on Seacliff Dr. Well stocked with cooking items. Very close to grocery shopping. Listing is a bit deceiving as the beach is quite a distance from the home. You'll either need to drive 10 minutes to Seacliff Beach State Park and pay $10 to park or walk down and back up 160 steps. The steps are about a 5 minute walk from the house. Owner lives in the attached apartment which is directly below the upper deck and some of the noise on the deck bothered her. She keeps her car in the garage behind the house and received a text early one morning that she would need to get her car out by 9:30. Since we were told we could park in the driveway I had to go move a car so she could get her car out. Fortunately we were there. Not sure what she would have done if we weren't. The umbrella for the upper deck was trashed and I sent her a picture right away. At that time I did not realize she was living there. Her response was "yikes". For the price we paid I would have thought she could have gone out and purchased another one for us but that didn't happen. It was difficult in the warm afternoons to spend time on the deck. There are quite a few throw rugs in the house which have no non slip on them and the floors are tile. Would recommend no rugs or non skid rugs as I almost slipped a couple of times. I put them all up so that no one got hurt. You are asked to count all dishes and silverware to make sure there are 12 of each. Seems pretty petty.

Lovely Home, Amazing Location!

We stayed at Maureen’s place with 6 adults and 3 kids and the space was great. You cannot beat the view, the balcony is amazing. Plenty of kitchen utensils, all around great stay.

All the way from Alaska

The property was nice but there was several nights where people that parked out front woke us up. Like last night for instance. Two women screaming bloody murder for no reason at 2 am. However this isn’t a fault of the place to stay. The rest of the things were great. I would suggest giving more towels for a large group but otherwise it was great. It was really nice having extra use of beach items too! Kids loved it!

Family Beach vacation

This property was perfect for our group of 6 adults and 4 kids. We loved the short 10-15 minute walk to the beach, the 5 minute drive to Marianne’s ice cream shop and the view from the deck. The bedrooms were large, the back fenced in patio was perfect and the kitchen was well equipped for us to cook meals. The best part of this vacation house was the water views, the sounds of the waves at night and being able to see the stars. We would recommend this house to everyone and would love to come back next summer.

Great Experience

This lovely beach house is wonderful. The set-up was perfect for our group of 6. It is nicely appointed while being cozy. You can feel the pride the owner has. The beds are comfortable, and the towels are very good quality. The kitchen has everything you need, and the quality of the dishes and utensils is top notch. We're hoping to go back next year!

Nostalgic home with an awesome view and location!

Home reminds me of visiting a favorite Aunt. It had a warmth about it. You could watch whales out the front window or from the upstairs deck. Don't need a car. Walk 6 -7 minutes to beach below in the State Park or to a few restaurants and amazing ice cream shop. Well stocked!

Idyllic

Our family of six loved it! It was perfect for hosting small family dinners. We really enjoying unwinding here after long days of visiting with family and taking in the region's activities. Positives: - Super-responsive property manager - Well-stocked kitchen with all the utensils and thingamabobs you'd want/need, plus spices - Location fantastic - close to the highway, close to beach, close restaurants, close to groceries - Awesome views. Negatives: - Upstairs, westernmost bedroom really heats up in the afternoon (we were there in April). Be prepared to mitigate. - If your wife is the princess & the pea type, the beds are a tad firm.

This family home was purchased in 1960 and has been loved by our large extended family since then. Many celebrations have taken place in this home and it has always been a place of laughter, relaxation, and time spent with people important to each other. We are delighted to share our home with you and those people special to you. Enjoy the sound of the surf, sunsets over the Cement Ship, with a view of dolphins, whales, pelicans and otters.

Why they chose this property

Because our extended family enjoyed the beach so much, our grandparents purchased the house. Our uncle built a house on the street behind the house and a cousin lived in another house on that street so we always had lots of people together. With the peaceful sound of the ocean and the gorgeous view from the deck, living room, upstairs bedrooms we have always appreciated this special place. Regardless of the weather, this home will leave you relaxed and rejuvenated. The beach and area provide the opportunity to take in the outdoors and enjoy the ocean.

What makes this property unique

The central location allows you to head to Monterey or Carmel, to Nicene Marks, to Santa Cruz or to the Cement Ship. Hiking, biking, kayaking, paddle boarding, bodysurfing, walking, sightseeing, and wine tasting are just some of the many activities we enjoy in the area. Unobstructed view of Monterey Bay from Monterey to Santa Cruz. Easy to walk to various eateries, walk to the beach, easy on and off the freeway.
