Lovely stay, beautiful property! The view and grounds were breathtaking. Cottage is old school/rustic/charming and comfortable. Could not ask for a better location!
While we only stayed one night, it was wonderful! Will was a great host, and greeted us as we entered the property. He gave us a brief tour, then left us to explore.
There's SO much outdoor space, which was perfect for our dog. Sunset was amazing. Enjoying a huge bonfire under the stars was wonderful. The only downside was a neighbor's hour-long fireworks show, which terrified my dog, and disturbed my bonfire experience. Of course, that was beyond the host's control.
We'd definitely go back!
Loved staying here for the weekend. The cottage is very cozy and has what you need. Clean as a whistle including the linens (I always check!). Host was very friendly and helpful, even gave me a good recommendation for dinner (Will, it was great, thank you). The view from the backyard is unmatched! Yard is extremely large and my dog loved exploring and running around. There is a path down to the beach, although you'll have to take a small jump or large step down off the seawall to get onto the sand, but if you are the least bit agile it is fine. Hoping I get to come back someday!
This is a large, old lakeside property with amazing views and good vibes. There’s nothing fancy or pretentious about this place but you will instantly know that many people, over many years, have lived and loved here — running and laughing on the large lawn, watching the sunset hand-in-hand/arm-in-arm, sitting by the fire pit and staring into the flames as the sky darkens and the moon rises. Getting to the beach will require care and mobility (we were fairly warned by others’ posts and were prepared for this) — while easy for active and fully mobile people it may be challenging or even impossible for others (most dogs will need to be carried or assisted down). It is a beautiful Michigan beach, nonetheless, just outside the back door. The property manager was wonderful — friendly, helpful, accommodating — and the welcome-dog was a gem. I hope we will be able to return some day.
We attended a wedding in Saugatuck and needed a place to stay. We were delighted with the view of the lake, as well as the friendliness of the caretaker, Will. There was even a bottle of wine waiting for us, a first out of the many rentals we have used. A charming little cottage!
This is the perfect quaint lake cabin to fit the surroundings! The view was spectacular! We had a fire every night in the fire pit. We will be back and I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a convenient place to call home base while visiting the surrounding towns. The owners are very kind and thoughtful and I loved their dog Iris!
Wonderful stay , sunset and view is fantastic, very peaceful...everything you need , my sister and myself stayed a few nights to have time away . Brought my dog , huge area for him to wander.
Everything was neat and clean. Even left us a bottle of wine to enjoy while watching sun go down .several small parks , south , to hike down to beach .thank you so much for a lovely place to stay .
Great location on Lake Mich, challenging beach access
Cottage location and Lake Michigan views excellent. Cute and quaint, but bedroom and bathroom need immediate updating. Beautiful beach, but beach access from property challenging for older adults.

Disliked: Cleanliness, listing accuracy
Disappointed.
While the description of the property did not claim beach access, it was implied with "Michigan beachfront is just steps outside your cottage," and reinforced by the photos. It was surprising, to say the least, to find that a tall stepladder standing next to a steel break wall surrounded by broken concrete slabs was the last obstacle to overcome to complete the journey to the beach. Now, add our 40lb dog and you can probably understand why we stayed only 1 of the 3 nights we booked. We have rented many cottages over the years and this was the first time we have ever left a property early feeling mad and cheated.
The cottage is perfectly adequate for a family of 5 or 6 to stay in. We were looking for an alternative to renting a camping cabin and this was excellent. Plenty to do in nearby South Haven and there is a park with a beach just down the road from the cottage.
The property itself is rather large and features a fire pit, gazebo, swings, and lots of grass to run around in. There is also the view of the lake as well.
The TV has all the modern streaming apps to kip younger kids occupied. Good wifi as well.
We had a great time and recommend this to anyone.
This is a great place with a super friendly caretaker, Will. The cabin was perfect for the two of us with 2 bedrooms and small bath. There's a sitting area inside facing Lake Michigan or lots of outdoor seating on a really large lawn area overlooking the lake. We weren't able to access the shoreline easily due to erosion but if you can get down there (I did!), it's beautiful. Wonderful sunsets and close to Holland, Douglas & Saugatuck but private and quiet fr cozy nights. We'll definitely be back to enjoy this property again!
This property is so wonderful, we will definitely be returning! My husband and I recently visited for 3 nights with our 1.5 year old son and 3 year old dog and could not have asked for a better place. The house itself was just what we needed - it definitely is nothing fancy, but it has all of the essentials and, most importantly, the most incredible view of the lake that you could ever imagine. Waking up every morning and enjoying the sunset every night was so special. Proximity to Saugatuck/Douglas etc was also perfect. Beach access is tricky but doable - we did it several time lugging around our toddler and our dog LOVED it. It was basically our own private beach. Thank you Will for being such a gracious host. Our little family made so many special memories here.
The property was awesome. Perfect weather all three days. The house had everything we needed. The owner and caretaker were very friendly. Thank you for the fresh cut asparagus. Will be back.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cottage on Lake Michigan with a deep family history and magnificent lake view. Will the property manager was supremely hospitable and made us feel right at home. We are sure to return!
What a great place to get away and unwind. Out of the way, yet close enough stores and such to fill your needs. Super quiet and relaxing. My morning coffee overlooking the lake was heavenly! We are talking about making this a yearly trip!
This old converted cottage sits on a huge, gorgeous piece of property on Lake Michigan. It is beyond words! The home is old but comfortable - everything you need. There is a fire pit outside and loads of wood to build a fire at night. There’s a path down to the lengthy beach. Sunsets were spectacular and millions of stars to be seen.

Why they chose this property
Our Story.... begins every spring with the first of the guests that arrive after a seemingly long and gray winter season. We have always eagerly awaited the arrival of the families; some with children that can not wait to kick off shoes and run down the beach. There are the folks with the children being full grown and will enjoy a day or several - with them and the grandchildren, to enjoy the calming sound of Lake Michigan waves or the comfort of the country air to breathe. Certainly the wonderful friends that have returned year after year.
