Where we feel at home...

As our winter memories grow (along with our kids) year after year at Strongwood, we couldn't be happier with this home. The home itself is in an ideal location - close enough to all the things the Berkshires have to offer, yet quiet and secluded. The layout is great for dinners with family and friends. And the owners are just fabulous - kind and responsive. They make continuous updates to the house over the summers and we always look forward to spotting what's "new." This property is truly our home away from home during the ski season, and we savor every moment and memory we create there!

Wonderful Choice for Family Thanksgiving Gathering

We have just returned from a fantastic Thanksgiving week at this clean, beautiful home in a wooded setting. For our family--three generations, including 9 people--this home was PERFECT. Bedrooms--beds were very comfortable; rooms nicely furnished. Bathrooms--one on each floor. Yeah! Kitchen--wonderful new induction stove and large new refrigerator. We prepared three meals a day, and everything needed was available. The table was plenty large for meals and board games. Location--terrific! We hiked most days (App Trail close by, but also enjoyed Stevens Glen, Ice Glen, etc.) and took a day trip down to Hyde Park and saw FDR home, Vanderbilt house, and FDR library/museum. Coordinating with the owner was efficient; immediately responsive. Flexible check-in/check-out. Would we return? Thumbs up ABSOLUTELY YES from everyone in our family.

Another great stay at Strongwood!

We just finished up our third ski season at Strongwood and, once again, it was very hard to pack up and depart. So many great memories being made here, and it's amazing watching the kids grow and how much they appreciate the house. We loved hearing that the house seemed "happy" after we had been there. This is a great house, great location and perfect for family and/or friends. The owners make updates every year and their love and appreciation for the property is clear. We are already looking forward to returning.

Another amazing winter...

This was our second winter at Strongwood and we just love it! It's truly become a home away from home, with plenty of room to spread out, but cozy enough for great dinners with family and friends. The owner has been wonderful and does everything she can to ensure her guests are comfortable. Location couldn't be better - close to everything fabulous in the GB area yet tucked away in a quiet, peaceful location. We will be back!

Great Log Home

We had an amazing experience as guests of this property this winter! Perfectly located for getting around the Berkshires, yet comes with a feeling of being "tucked away" from everything, as a quiet and private location. The house has three levels, so families are able to have their own spaces. And the 1st floor is a perfect place for kids to play games, do puzzles or nestle in to watch a movie. The house is also equipped with everything you might need. The property manager is very responsive and great to work with. When we left, my daughter said she was sad to leave because "the house was amazing." No disputing the opinions of a 7 year old! We might have to make plans to come back over the summer! Thanks again, Christina, for a great place to call home this winter.

Our family of 7 adults had a wonderful winter holiday in this comfortable home.

Great cabin for a winter getaway. We loved the fireplace and gas stoves, the layout of the house, the location, nearby amenities and attractions. Being right by the Appalachian Trail was a surprise bonus. And Christina was a very accommodating, responsive host.

Lovely cabin, great area!

I went up to the cabin Columbus Day weekend with a few friends and it was a fantastic experience. The cabin was cozy and homely, with more than enough space for everyone. We got to explore downtown Great Barrington, along with the neighboring towns, Stockbridge and Lenox, which are just a few minutes away by car. The fall foliage was stunning and we were able to go to several fall festivals in the area! I could not recommend this cabin or the area itself enough, truly an unforgettable experience.

Beautiful cabin, perfect getaway!

I stayed here with a group of friends for the weekend and had the best time. The cabin is clean, spacious and perfect for groups and families. It's just a few minutes driving from tons of hiking trails, quarries and the downtown (I seriously suggest the Gypsy Joint for the best sandwiches you'll ever have). The bedrooms are cozy and there's a gorgeous outdoor porch and grass space that's great for hanging outside on a beautiful day. Hope to stay here again sometime soon!

No complaints

I've been up here several times with a group of friends and I've never been disappointed. The cabin itself is beautiful, with its log walls and big balcony. It's got several rooms, so you can comfortably fit more people than you'd expect. The top floor is basically one big master bedroom, the main floor has two bedrooms and the space you see in the pictures, and the basement has another living room and two or three more bedrooms. I love Great Barrington's downtown, which is only a five to ten minute drive from the cabin. It has lots of great restaurants, cafes, and shops, though the loss of the Gypsy Joynt will sting. There is great hiking nearby, which is usually the point of our trip. Our favorites are a 2, 2 and a half hour mountain hike in Great Barrington and a roughly 30 minute hike that straddles the New York/Massachusetts border and ends at what I believe is the biggest waterfall in Massachusetts. I've never been in the winter, but I hope to do so soon. Every time we drive by Butternut I wish it's sky season.
