About this property

The Root Beer Rendezvous. Luxury with a bit of whimsy. Not handicap accessible

Located in Southern Utah, Duck Creek Village is nearly on top of Cedar Mountain. If you love the outdoors you will love this hidden treasure getaway. This property sits inside Dixie National Forest ( ride your ATV out the driveway and you have 2 million acres to explore) near Navajo Lake (sometimes good fishing), Cedar Breaks National Monument, Brian Head Ski and Summer Resort (famous for no lift lines), and Panguitch Lake (consistently good fishing) are all within a 20 minute drive of Duck Creek Village. Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon National Park along with the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument are each less than 45 minutes away. This is your base camp for day trips to some of the most amazing sights, parks and locations in the USA.

Local village with restaurants and groceries is just a few minutes away and through the forest on your ATV, dirt bike or Side by Side. There are more than 500 miles of ATV trails in our immediate area connecting to a system of over 2000 miles. ATV rentals are available in the village. ATVs and snowmobiles can be ridden from the cabin to the trail system, no trailer needed.

Although this cabin only has 2 bedrooms, we are willing to accommodate larger groups with notice. We have beds and pull outs for 8 people. The pull outs are high quality and actually comfortable, not the horrid bed with a bar in the middle that makes you end up on the floor for comfort. This cabin has over 2300 square feet and most of it is open. Great gathering area. We also have a fire pit right off the lower patio, perfect for roasting marshmallows. The upper deck (over 400 sq ft) is covered and right in the forest with large pine trees just a few feet from the railing and patio seating to enjoy the full outdoor experience without the weather. Deck has a smoker and a grill for your use. Spend a little quiet time on the deck or patio and expect to see deer, squirrels and an array of birds including the occasional turkey. Antelope summer in the meadow below.

Pool table for a family tournament in the walk out basement and a great video/sound system with a few movies in the same room. Bring your own DVD's or rent some in the Village. You'll want to have an excuse to ride over to the village anyway as its a fun way to see the area and the outdoors.

This cabin is made for ATVer's. Bring or rent your ATV's and enjoy exploring, playing, or just using it for transportation. When our family visits we park the car and only use ATV's or snowmobiles for transportation while on the mountain, even to go fishing or to the store. *The driveway is not plowed in the winter months and you will have to trek through the snow to access the cabin.

What a great cabin!

We had an amazing time at this cabin. It was extremely clean and service was amazing. We had two families staying at the cabin and everyone had a tremendous time. We would definitely stay here again if given the opportunity 😊👌👌

Great getaway & Ideal Location

My family and I loved staying at this property. It was clean, spacious, and well-equipped. The location was perfect for what we wanted - an hour drive to Bryce Canyon and Zion. The kitchen was well-stocked with pots, pans, and other accessories. The beds were very comfortable and the additional blankets were great as it was a little chilly during our stay. The fire pit area was fun - we enjoyed a couple nights of bonfires and s'mores. We would stay here again!

Great cabin

Cabin was great for our family. Very spacious. A few draw backs. Cabin smelled like cow poop when we arrived, had to open all windows to get smell out. Quite a few of condiments had expired. We were not able to use freezer as it was loaded full of owners stuff. We would diffently stay here again.

Fall Break

Overall the place was great clean and in good condition. Place had all expected amenities and kitchen supplies. The deck and fire pit were awesome. My only concern was the driveway was steep we were scared to pull into it in our minivan luckily there was a place to park at the top of the driveway but still a little steep walking up and down on a gravel driveway. There was a path down but still steep if I wasn’t so nimble on my feet I maybe would rather stay somewhere else. Not sure how they would fix this issue either maybe install some steps.

Great Cabin!

Pros: Cabin is well suited for a family with multiple kids. It's got all the necessary essentials and then some. It's in a great location and close to many trials. The deck is amazing! Owners are very responsive and great. Con: Really, the only draw back is the driveway and the reason for 4 out of 5 stars. It's extremely steep and not accessible. We had to pack all the supplies down then back up. We also brought ATV's and a trailer. It was not ideal parking on the street. But, just a minor inconvenience that would not hold us back from staying there next time.

Beautiful Cabin.

The cabin was great! Very clean and very nice. Driveway was very steep so be careful and make sure you don't go in without a 4 wheel drive. My biggest upset about this property was that the Internet and Wi-Fi was not working so we had no TV cell phone signal or Wi-Fi. In my opinion I think there should be a television in the main living room and bedrooms as well. I was laid up with a medical issue while I was there I had no way to entertain myself. Entertain myself. As I could not walk down the stairs. But overall we had a great experience with the house..

Nothing special

We booked this house as our halfway point between Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon. The write up says that each park is 45 mins away. This may be true is the strictest case as you may enter the park boundary in 45 mins or so. But to get to the visitor center or the main hiking location in each park is much longer. Zion's visitor center is 1 hour and 21 mins away and Bryce Canyon is 57 mins away. Had we realized this we would not have stayed at this home. Also as an amenity a wood stove is listed available for use. We were given two different conflicting reports on the wood stove. Megan told us it was broken and we were unable to use. Then when we got the house rules it said that the wood stove is not for guest use. So not sure which is correct but either way we were not allowed to use this amenity. The downstairs' heater didn't work very well. It never really warmed up down there. But the pool table was a blast. We were very happy to have it. The kitchen is nicely equipped and the beds are comfortable.

Great house

We rented this house to explore Bryce and Zion. It’s a bit of a drive, but you’re in the west! I wish we had time to explore more of the immediate area as there are lots of UTV and hiking trails around. We did take a short hike during the first snow of the year and it was lovely. The house is immaculately clean and don’t worry about the driveway. If it’s wet or snowy, park at the top, otherwise you will be fine. Get groceries before arriving and there are very limited local restaurants, just FYI. Aunt Sue’s has great comfort food. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Best Vacation Ever!

Like other reviews, this property is phenomenal to say the least. Cleanliness, well stocked, location, everything ... when the owners state this is their " little piece of Heaven" they are not lying. Heck, the way it's decorated it's like being in an old western museum! The objective of our trip was to ride OHVs, Fish, and relax, and this is the perfect location. We caught fish and we rode, however given time frame we probably only explored .01% of the trail system so we will be back. I've never been to a place where tranquility was a 10 out of 10 in the evening ... it was so dark, quiet, and peaceful that I spent the majority of my evenings on the upper deck in awe with the esthetics. I've never experienced a place so peaceful before. Now the driveway. For the world of me I do not understand why the owners do not fix this issue, I love this place so much I'm willing to help pay for a remedy. The lose gravel is just insane and upsets any hope of traction for two wheel drive. I arrived by myself on Thursday to set up for rest of family coming in on Friday. I've taken note of all the 4WD recommendations for using the driveway so I parked in the ample off road spot above the cabin. I'm 62 so after one unload of luggage and trek back up to truck (with higher altitude) I thought I was going to have a medical episode :) I have a 2WD Tacoma with rear locker so I decided back down driveway and unload rest of items I brought. Next morning it took an hour to get out using ATV ramps for traction assist. Funny thing is my daughter has a Fancy AWD Mercedes SUV and that thing will go up and down that driveway all day long without any wheel slip. So yes 4WD or AWD is a must (not recommended) for the driveway!

Great experience

Beautiful mountain home. Every amenity provided. Plenty of room for big families. Difficult to access steep gravel driveway down to the house. The next morning we discovered a foot path down to the house that was much easier. No outdoor lighting. We had to use our cell phone flash lights to navigate the path.

Home away from home

This cabin is so wonderful. We stayed here last year & loved it so much that we came back. Yes, the driveway is steep but there is a nice trail from the parking pad that isn't as steep. We were able to fit our 10 passenger van and a good size trailer on the parking pad. The location is so close to many sights in the area. The cabin is clean & spacious. The kids LOVE the basement. There isn't AC so we did get a little warm. (Upstairs temp at 85 at it's highest.) The ceiling fans helped a lot. We loved staying here and would stay again if we came back to the area.

Would rebook in a heartbeat!

This cabin had everything you could need for your stay! We brought some extra supplies (kids games, linens, cooking tools, trash bags, TP, etc.) and didn't need any of it because the house was so well stocked. It was so clean & comfortable! One of our favorite spots was eating our meals on the back covered balcony. And the kids favorite spot was by far the basement with the video games, pool table & bunkbeds. They spoiled us & we'd rebook in a heartbeat. This would be a great cabin for (2) families as each set of parents could have a bedroom and all the kiddos could be in the basement. Cabin was nice furnished with everything we needed. It provided a nice retreat in the Duck Creek area in Utah, but still accessible to Bryce Canyon National Park, the local trails, everything! Megan was very accommodating and the entire family loved the stay.

Quiet Cabin by Zion and Bryce National Park

We had an amazing time at the cabin. Perfect location between Zion and Bryce. Beds where comfortable. Porch was enclosed with a gas BBQ. Entertainment area downstairs was to dream for. It had a pool table, big sofa, and you could walk out to the fire pit. I recommend not using the driveway if you don't have a 4x4 vehicle. Park on the street. When in rains, dirt roads get very muddy. We slid around a couple times.

Root Beer Rendezvous April 2021

The Property Manager, Megan, is AWESOME. She provided us with constant communication and information. The master bedroom was so comfortable, best mattress I've slept on. Very clean and a well equipped kitchen. It had most of the things we needed, just check with Megan to find out specifics if needed. The neighborhood was very quiet, trees all around, though other cabins were close, they were unoccupied. My only problem was with the driveway/access to the cabin. It should clearly state before you rent that the driveway may not be accessible due to snow (Megan did a great job following up on our snow questions). However, the driveway is still very very steep, with loose gravel and concrete mix. We ended up parking by the road a short distance above the cabin. There is a steep trail down from the single parking spot, that is navigable if you are healthy. This is certainly not for anyone who has a health problem that limits their mobility. I would hope that something would be added to VRBO that indicates the possible problems with access. For a family with one vehicle, and no health/mobility issues, this is a fantastic cabin! Just not sure where a second vehicle could park. For the record, someone else might have tried the driveway and not had a problem (if you have four wheel drive and the right tires), I just did not take the chance. We would certainly stay again, as it is close enough to the National Parks we visited. We did not use the downstairs area, but there were plenty of bunks/futons, a huge pit set, pool table, TV/Entertainment area, and another bathroom and laundry. Thank You Megan, for a wonderful stay!

New Favorite Spot!

This cabin is beautiful! We went the last weekend of February. So there was some snow and a lot of mud. 4WD is suggested but we didn't need it. The cabin was so clean, they had a full working kitchen (with spices and pans) and a pool table. Not to mention that AWESOME arcade game in the basement! I had so much fun at this cabin. There was a rule that we NOT flush wipes (even if flushable) down the toilet, they had a problem with their septic tank. My suggestion for that is maybe the owners should buy single ply instead of the deluxe super thick toilet paper and it probably would be fine. The driveway into it is literally a steep hill. We parked at the top on the road. But a couple of us did fall down the driveway because of how steep and icy it was. I am sure this cabin would be absolutely perfect in the summer time. But I would totally stay in this cabin again! This place looked like a snowmobilers paradise! They were all over the place. There were also people sledding too. This place had everything!

A beautiful, clean 5-star cabin

We had a great time here for our weekend getaway. The cabin is both cozy and roomy, and very, very clean. It had everything we needed and we would definitely rent here again. Upstairs, we played cards and watched the snow. Downstairs, the kids listened to their music and played pool. The beds and all furniture were very comfortable and the heater works very well. We had 2 adults, 4 teenagers, and a 6 year old and had more than enough room. It is a large cabin. We loved it. The absolute only downside, as others have said, was the parking. The driveway is very steep, so it makes sense that it can't be used in the winter (but it's good for sledding!). The parking area at the top of the drive doesn't get plowed, so be sure to bring a shovel and have good snow tires if visiting in the winter! And try to arrive before dark. We slid our luggage down the slope on our snow sleds, but had to walk it back up on checkout. It's a hill, but it's not far. I would not recommend it for somebody who is not steady on their feet.

About the host

Hosted by Megan

Host profile image
Our family comes from all over the nation and Canada. We wanted a central family retreat.
This is our family vacation home that we just started renting to others. We call it the Root Beer Rendezvous because we are 'root beer nuts.' We have lots of empty bottles, and usually, if we didn't drink them all, have a few samples left in the fridge for our guests to enjoy.

Why they chose this property

We originally purchased this as our getaway, but we couldn't 'get away' to it as much as we hoped and wanted to share this gem with others.

What makes this property unique

We viewed almost every property for sale in Duck Creek and couldn't find one with this much open space or beauty. Inside is beautiful and we just couldn't pass it up.
