About this property

Huge Pet-Friendly House in Hyde Park

“Big Blue” is a large house – over 4,200 square feet – located in the beautiful and historic Hyde Park, North End district of the city, literally steps away from some of Boise’s best dining and parks, within walking distance of downtown, and a short bike ride from the best that Boise has to offer.

The house has four bedrooms, a very large living room with bar, formal dining room, finished basement/entertainment area, and backyard w/BBQ.

Big Blue is perfect for larger groups and families. There are two master suites with queen beds, 1 room that serves as an office/sleeping with a queen bed, a downstairs bedroom with a full and twin bunk bed set along with a full-size futon. Eight people can sleep comfortably in the bedrooms.

The best part of the house is its location: in historic Hyde Park, you are literally within a block of Goody’s candy shop, Java Coffee Shop, Hyde Park Bar & Grill, numerous restaurants, antique shops, book stores, spas, and many boutique shops. You’re also a short 5-minute walk to Camel’s Back Park, with hiking and running trails, tennis courts, and playgrounds.

Although you’re close to everything, you’ll enjoy the peace and quiet of the leisurely neighborhood, back yard and bbq.

Other amenities include large screen plasma TV, Wi-Fi, Roku and a large fenced yard.

A great house for executives, families or large groups. You'll find that you don't even need a car when you stay here, as the wide tree-lined streets are very pedestrian and bicycle friendly.

Within one mile of the house: grocery shopping, numerous restaurants and bars, yoga studios and spas, hospitals and clinics, theaters and cinemas, and much, much more.

Please note that there is a $20/night pet fee and a large group fee for groups over five people.

Nice house

This is a nice house in a great neighborhood! You are able to walk to shops, restaurants and most importantly “goodie candy shop”. We will reserve again.

Boise First Timers

This was our first visit to Boise & being in historic Hyde Park added to what was the perfect time. We were able to walk just about everywhere and driving was super easy in this beautiful city. The house itself was clean and easy to stay comfortably in especially given it was just the two of us. We “lived” just on the main level of this lovely old home. Very welcoming and easy to enjoy!

Dirty, heat didn’t work upstairs, poorly equipped, smelly

Owner gave conflicting check in codes and was rude when asked which was correct. Hair in showers/bathrooms upon check in. House was dirty and smelled. Extremely poorly decorated. Leaks caused ice on front steps that created dangerous conditions. Not well equipped kitchen at all. Location is the only good thing.

FUN HOUSE! GREAT STAY!

Love the BLUE HOUSE. This was our 2nd time here. Great location in Hyde Park. A block away from food, candy, coffee, pastries, on and on....and close to Camels Back Park. House was super comfortable for just hanging around. Dogs loved the back yard and Virgil is the perfect host.

Hyde Park HOME RUN

My family rented the house for a weekend in August, and were thrilled with the location (ice cream and coffee shop just down the street), cleanliness, yard and the house itself. It also had a great yard for our pups! Oh, it even had a crib for our 18 month old! I won't stay anywhere else when I visit Boise.

Comfortable Roomy House

We rented this house for 4 nights to stay for my son's graduation from Boise State. We had anticipated there would be more people staying with us, but it worked out great-everyone got their own space. We had a small party to celebrate and the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed-including coffee filters! The TVs were great, comfortable furniture and beds. It was cold but got the heater to work. Walked to the shops and restaurants in the neighborhood-which was lovely. The property manager was great (Alisha), no problems arriving or departing. Would definitely stay here again!

Boise North End House

The house is in a great location next to many restaurants and downtown. The house is very large but needs some TLC. The bed in the basement was so uncomfortable the couple staying down there moved to the living room couch. Many things were just old and beat up like the couch and other furnishings. The hostess was responsive but the upstairs AC was not fixed even though the handy man came over 3 times. There were several minor issues but I will stop.

Great Location and Size

My mom, sisters, and I decided to have a girls trip in Boise. Most of them live in the area, but we wanted to do something fun, and be close to downtown. As well as Hyde Park. We chose this house because it was in the perfect location, and had the clean fell we were looking for. It was a great space. With a full kitchen, and plenty of bathrooms. We were also able to walk right down the street to go to some of our favorite restaurants in Hyde Park. The only thing I would suggest they add is more comfortable bed options. There were really only two comfortable beds for grown adults. The rest were bunks with kid mattresses, and a futon. Maybe make sure the lighting is working, as quite a few bulbs were out, so the front room was quite dark. All in all, we would probably stay there again if there were a few tweeks done. Thanks again for the great home to stay in!

Not as advertised

I am a VRBO Superhost and I know how important it is to leave reviews so I am going to 100% honest about this property. I WOULD NOT recommend this property to stay at.The pictures do not represent the property at all! The back yard is not a yard it is simply unkept full of weeds. The railings going down to the yard are loose & dangerous for anyone needing assistance getting down the stairs. There was actual screws coming out of the wall! Not to mention there is an apartment in the alley garage that looks directly into the backyard, so there is no privacy. The foul smell coming from the dumpsters in the alley made it very unpleasant to sit out back. There's a gas bbq, but no propane provided. The home itself was not clean to a hosting standard. It is posted as no shoes, however the kitchen floor was dirty, not to mention stained carpet & stains on the couch. There was 6 of us staying at the home & 4 hangers in each closet. The kitchen is VERY minimal in dishware, bowls, cooking utensils certainly not enough for 10 people unless you use the cheap plastic ware. No coffee, no water for guests. 4 p.m. check in & 10 a.m. check out is very inconvenient especially considering that you are required to wash & put away dishes & start a load of laundry. There wasn't enough laundry soap to start a load of laundry & the soap that was left was watered down fabric softener. I also found the host to be very threatening about charging extra fees for everything! Ridiculous!

About the host

A third-generation Idahoan, I bought this house but live out of state with my family now. We couldn’t bear to sell it, and we would like others to have the opportunity to enjoy it as much as we have.

Why they chose this property

The size and location: big enough for large groups, close to everything but peaceful with friendly neighbors and it is close to everything.

What makes this property unique

We love the fact that we never have to plan anything here: you can wake up and decide to bike to the Boise River and enjoy the zoo or museums there, or walk to the park for a game of tennis or some hiking, or stroll downtown for the Farmer's Market or to spend the day shopping and dining. You can do nearly anything you like and be close enough to home to easily come back for a snack, nap or to get some work done in the home office, or entertain friends or family in the big living room and backyard.
