Loved the cabin in the heart of this property, everything we needed was at hand for our stay and the beautiful serenity of the woodland and the lakes was the peace and quiet we needed. Open fire pit outside and a beautiful wood burning fire inside. The kangaroos came to say Hi to us out of curiosity, and we loved being in heart of nature. No phone reception, no internet just downtime from the madness of modern society. My only downside was the outside toilet and shower, and if you’re an arachnophobic, like me you won’t want to be using the amenities.
My husband and I decided to get away for the weekend at the last minute, and we were so happy to see that there was some availability at the Old Brush. Our host Gail was very responsive and communicated with us straight away to help make it happen, and we stayed in touch on the journey as well as we were delayed due to the poor weather. Once we arrived we felt instantly relaxed and were welcomed with a stocked fireplace and all the comforts you vould possibly need. We shared the space with some beautiful wildlife, and had the best sleep in we've had for a long time! We got a chance to catch up with Gail and her wonderful dog Archie which was so lovely. Highly recommend Old Brush. I know we will return again for our 3rd stay. Thanks again Gail, Robert and Archie for having us!
I travel remotely often as a solo female who needs equal peace, serenity & an adventure all rolled into one, with a safe place to return to, and Gail's cabin is exactly this.
On arrival after getting partially stuck in the RNP, Gail made me feel absolutely welcome & happy to be back on sturdy ground.
The cabin with surrounding private lake and various mini hikes waere gorgeous, clean & had all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay.
Will return again soon, thank you! 💜
Beautiful little cabin and surrounds!
A perfect place for solo travellers and families alike.
With stunning walks, perfect surrounds and scenery! Lots of wonderful wildlife and the owners ‘Robert and Gail’ are a delight.
Thank you 😊
Lovely cottage is an amazing setting!
We had the most unwinding relaxing time sitting by the fire looking out the perfectly set picture window lostening to the rain on the tin roof.
Will do our best to come back!!
One of these best getaway weekends we could have had. Private and secluded but had everything we needed. Absolute picturesque spot. Amazing walking tracks, and we saw so many kangaroos and birds. If you’re looking for a grounding escape, this is perfect place. Thank you Gail and Rob for a great weekend, we will be back !
Beautiful property, friendly owner and overall fantastic experience.little retreat in the middle of the forest.great place to switch off and sit by the fire and take in your surroundings.will definately be back to visit.highly recommended!thankyou
Place is nice and quaint - a bit outdated but adds to the charm. Feels like a time capsule that's been enjoyed for the last 40 years, in the bush. Lots of privacy, though we were lucky as there were no other guests (there is another studio as well as the owners on the property which are very well-spaced out and the grounds are open to day-visitors). The adjoining grounds are great to wander around. Encountered a variety of birds and roos - beware the kangaroos, they expect to be fed!
Gail and Robert have thoughtfully and sensitively developed their beautiful property providing a genuine sense of retreat from the outside world. They have a lovely eye for creating very aesthetically pleasing spaces. Detailed information regarding animal and plant life along walking trails is also provided. Both Gail and Robert were very kind and considerate towards us. Thanks very much for having us.
This property is majestic! My mother and I spend a night here just to get away together and enjoy nature. We stayed in the Old Brush Cabin. The cabin was in an idyllic, tranquil location amidst the forest. There were so many beautiful places on the property to have a picnic and to just sit and enjoy the serenity. There were many beautiful walks – well signposted and maps were provided. Despite being in close proximity to the Hunter Valley it felt like we were in the middle of nowhere – it truly was a hidden gem. We enjoyed watching all the bird life outside the window and later that night reading by the fireplace. As the sun was setting a kangaroo and her joey came right onto our veranda. They were very friendly – we could pat them. Our cabin was near a billabong and it was wonderful falling asleep to the sounds of frogs. The cabin itself was so cosy and rustic yet fully equipped. Due to limited reception we were able to relax and enjoy our time without outside influences. The hosts, Gail and Robert were very friendly and made us feel welcome straight away. We had a great chat and played with their dog Archie. Gail went above and beyond to make mum comfortable (due to her medical condition). Gail and Robert were amazing hosts and wonderful people. I highly recommend staying in the Old Brush Cabin!
Gail and Robert are such friendly and accommodating hosts. The cabin is very cosy set in pictures surroundings perfect for a get away and reset.
Will definitely be returning.
From the moment we arrived we were made feel very welcome the property owner was great .and the cabin was awesome so peaceful great wild life all around you and nothing else we will definitely be staying there again loved loved loved it. Highly recommended to all that love nature.
What an amazing place. In the middle of the bush, this cabin allows you to truly get away from it all. We escaped the pull of electronic media (no phone reception) and listened to music and read their books, in addition to the beautiful bush walls on our doorstep. We will definitely be coming again!
Beautiful property with a very accommodating host! Gail was so friendly and helpful - from our first messages to check out. Would highly recommend staying here!
We had a much needed peaceful and serene stay at the property. The natural surroundings are stunning and the cabin sets you back in time with all its quirks and comforting delights. Both Gail and Robert were very accomodating and friendly to ensure our stay was pleasant. We will be definitely going back there. It's a hidden gem.
Charming restored cabin in the middle of nowhere. Birds arrived for a feed not long after we did and roos grazing nearby.
Gail had the fire going for us, which was very welcome as it was a chilly night.
Gail and Robert have created a wonderful place to stay, with special touches throughout the cabin that add to the magic of our bush stay. Loved the bush walks, wildlife and importantly the experience of sitting at our own outdoor fire everynight cooking our dinner. Thank you both so much for a wonderful experience.
What a wonderful little getaway! I had such a lovely weekend at the back cabin.
If you want peace, calm and plently of bush charm this is definitely the place to go. The place had everything you need for a weekend away, the wood heater was a real treat and Gail and Rob were friendly and accommodating. The only regret I had was that I didn't stay longer.
