About this property

A wonderful, secluded 2 story cabin, deck, fire pit, stocked pond for fishing.

Looking for a way to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and create memories with your spouse, friends, or family, this is the place to make this happen. Wonderful cabin located just outside of Paradise, Utah 15 minutes to Logan, Utah and 5 minutes to Hyrum Dam. The cabin has two stories. The main level has a great room with leather couches, fully stocked kitchen, half bath, TV with satellite dish, board games, wood burning fire place, air conditioning, large deck with gorgeous views of pond on property and the Little Bear River Bottoms. Basement level has gas stove, electric heat, two bedrooms, both with very comfortable queen beds, and a full bath. Walking outside you will find a patio with a Weber grill and flat top grill for cooking, a large fire pit, a large lawn area for games including volleyball. There is a one-acre pond for fishing, but no swimming or kayaking. Access is down a gravel road. We recommend 4-wheel or all-wheel drive high-clearance vehicles. The cabin sleeps 4 in two queen beds, but has two long leather couches and a leather love seat couch (extra bedding as well) on the main floor where others could sleep and tents are allowed.

2025 Upgrade: We installed a new water system at the cabin. The kitchen sink now has an osmosis filter and the entire cabin has a new filtration system. The water is clean, safe to drink, and should have no sulfur odor.

Great get away
We loved it there! Kids loved fishing even though they didn't catch anything. Close to everything needed, but feels very secluded.

Great short stay
We stayed with our kids 5,14 and 16. They had a blast fishing, feeding the horses, at the campfire. Went down to porcupine reservoir to go after trout since only bass were in pond. Our older kids came up for a day and enjoyed playing the yard games and Lounging in the hammocks. We caught several bass, a snake, a cat faced spider. The only con is the smelly hot water… otherwise it was nearly paradise :) thanks for a fun weekend

A hidden slice of Heaven
My wife and I stayed here in October of 2024. We enjoyed every minute of the stay. I caught fish in the pond and had coffee on the deck every morning. We lit a campfire at night and watched some amazing sunsets with the Wellsville mountains in the distance to the west. We took a short drive to Porcupine Reservoir to watch the Kokenee Salmon running up the river in full red spawn colors. We would love to go back and spend more time in that little slice of heaven. Almost Paradise is and understatement for a cabin name here. I also think it's a play on words since its located just outside Paradise Utah. It certainly is PARADISE!!

Paradise in Utah
If you want a get away from the city this is the place. You have a beautiful pond, beautiful view and farm life all in one. The house is small and cozy. Only down fall is the smell of the water in the house. Very high sulfur smell made it unbearable to use, but owner states it is clean and filter will be added soon.We did have some troubles with locking the front door, and ofc there are a ton of bugs. But the bugs are a given with nature and wild life. Bring your own wood and fishing poles and this place is a dream. Definitely recommend for anyone. SUVs and Trucks are recommended because the road down to the cabin is very rocky, down hill and lots of sharp turns.

Awesome cabin
I was in the area to participate in the annual SmallSat conference at Utah State University and found this gem just a short drive south of Logan. It would be perfect for a small group for a chill weekend.

Perfect Getaway at Nearly Paradise Cabin
My family and I had such an amazing time visiting this nearly paradise little cabin. The cabin was very clean and had all the amenities you could ask for or need. This place provided the perfect combination of the peace and quite you get with camping and being in nature, but also still being able to be connected to the real world when you wanted/needed to be. We loved saying hi to the horses and saw so many animals up close (deer, cows, turkeys, hawks, a frog, and small garden snakes). We spent a lot of time at the pond fishing and sitting outside admiring the views. The owners were very kind, and one owner stopped by to bring us water and ice. They also responded to our questions in a timely manner. We felt our privacy was respected and that we had the place to ourselves. There were bug zapper lanterns that really came in handy while we were outside in the evening times, and had lots of fun playing corn hole and ladder ball. Keep in mind some mosquitoes and bugs would make their way into the bottom level of the house in/near the bathroom and bedrooms (Earwigs, mosquitoes, wolf spiders). We would do a quick walk through to get rid of what was in those rooms before occupying them, and that helped out a lot. The water does smell of sulfur, especially on hot, so we used bottled water for drinking and brushing teeth. All in all my family and I had such an amazing time and were super sad to leave this place. We made lots of great memories here and will for sure be returning.

Special Place
We have been here a few times now. Our kids love fishing the pond and it is really such a special spot with beautiful scenery and plenty of shade and chairs hammocks etc. The property is on a well with a pretty strong sulfur smell and taste so we always grab some water jugs for cooking and drinking. One other thing to be aware of is the fact that one of the owners who is a very nice guy, stops by the property a fair amount often unannounced. He is very nice and usually is there to move water or do something maintenance related outside. On one hand it’s great to have someone nearby that can come to help relatively quickly, on the other hand, it can feel for some like a lack of privacy. The hosts are quick to respond and the property is always clean. Overall, we highly recommend!

Honeymoon cut short
The first few days we enjoyed the beautiful views and the wonderful scenery of the place. We enjoyed the place for the first day or two until we started getting sick. My husband and I wanted to stay an entire week but it got cut short because we got sick from staying at the property. We noticed there was black mold in the window. My husband woke up with his eyes swollen shut and had to pry them open to see on our wedding day. He does not get bad allergies. We lost our appetite while we were there so we knew we had to leave. I also was not impressed that I was charged $50 extra because we had 4 trash bags and glitter, that was from my WEDDING dress. I paid it. The water also had an odd smell when you turn on the hot water. They were kind enough to refund our money for the rest of our stay. We really wished it wasn’t cut short because it was a stunning place.

If you want to see a piece of Heaven, this is the place to stay…your own private sanctuary…a place of serenity & peace. Just what we needed to get away from it all. Thank you for sharing it with us. It is absolutely breathtaking! We love the pond, nature, & picturesque views. The swings and games made our stay complete. We would definitely recommend staying at “Nearly Paradise”!!!

Extended Our Stay A Few More Days
We ended up staying a few days longer as our project scope was extended. I'd like to add that we saw a variety of wildlife. A lot of Sandhill Cranes, a fox in a field below, Several Pheasants, Magpies, a few deer, and we heard some Turkeys. The owner did come by daily...

Very Relaxing Cozy Cabin
Property was well maintained. Patio views were spectacular. The owner came and checked in on us several times and to tend to the pond. Kitchen was well stocked. Pellet heater was cozy and effective. Beds comfortable. Tasha was a great communicator and friendly. We were here for work but enjoyed a gateway experience in the evenings/ weekends. I'd definitely stay here again.

Relaxing spot in paradise
We had the best stay here. We came with our whole family, little kids included. We explored around the fish pond, said hi to the horses, and spent lots of time relaxing in various hammocks. When you are down by the cabin it's like the whole world is far far away. Bruce was helpful and a pleasure to chat with. We are already excited to come back one day!

Truly Paradise
We LOVED our stay. It was one of the best VRBO'S we have ever stayed in. It was the perfect get-away from traffic and all the daily husle and bustle. It was SO quiet and isolated. The view was amazing and there was plenty of time and spots to sit and chat. The owners were delightful and so accommodating. It was fun to catch fish in the pond. We will definitely tell our family and friends about it and be back.

I wish I owned a place like this. It was quiet, peaceful and perfect for family time. There was plenty to do outside all day with fishing, exploring and playing games. The cabin was small, but enough for our little family. I would go here again for the relaxing fishing and family game time.

Bruce taught at the University of Kentucky in the Department of Restorative Dentistry. He was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1972 and labeled disabled in 1982 which ended his dental career. The family moved back home to Paradise, Utah, for family support in raising their five children, ages three to ten. Margie began her teaching career at Mountain Crest High School. They have all grown with families of their own and they still love the cabin and treasure memories they have as they grew.

Why they chose this property

This property was sold from a larger land parcel and did not have road access. In the beginning it had a small pond, an unattended cabin in a rough, weedy area. Bruce and Margie saw the possibilities from the beginning - a place, if developed, which could be an escape from the tense circumstances of everyday life, a place of peace and a return to nature so one could evaluate one's life journey. The ten-acre plot of land was Bruce's way to provide a place to be together and to work together as the family grew. All members of the family worked hard to create, over the years, a beautiful cabin area that it is today.

What makes this property unique

Description from someone who stayed at the cabin in 2019.
"I have laid in this hammock for two hours, listening to the water cascading into the pond, to geese honking as they fly up the valley, to Sand Hill Cranes beyond the pond and two wild turkeys, but I don't know where they are. In every direction I look it is absolutely isolated and beautiful. I watched the cows and calves feeding in the pasture, watched all kinds of birds and two large Red-Tailed Hawks circling and landing in a bare branched tree top about one-half block away on the hillside. I've watched the horses behind the fence as they watched me almost as intently as I watched them. No, this is not Nearly Paradise, this is Paradise."
