The communication with property owner was amazing. The views were spectacular and the cabin its self was more amazing than the pictures. 10/10 would definitely recommend and will stay again!
The property is absolutely stunning. Pictures on the posting don't do it justice. Communication with host is expectational. The drive up is not bad at all. The views from the porch are amazing. Would highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay out here.
The cabin is clean, well-maintained, and well-equipped: towels, linens, washer/dryer, and all the kitchen items you need. Furniture is comfortable with nice adirondack chairs and rockers on the porch. Best of all, fantastic views from the front deck that can also be seen from the inside since the front wall has floor-to-ceiling windows! The "beary" theme throughout the cabin is charming. There's a very nice gas log fireplace in the living room and a huge fire pit in front of the cabin so you can still enjoy the view. Make sure you bring camp chairs...the giant logs meant for sitting around the fire pit aren't very comfortable. Overall, you can't go wrong if you're looking for a true mountain cabin experience!
The host was very accommodating and communicative throughout the stay. The cabin was so cute and the views were gorgeous. We saw a few deer near the house in the woods and even saw a few bear cubs the last night we were there. I have family in the area and will definitely be looking for this property again next time we travel.
We had a wonderful trip to Bakersville and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cabin. It was very quiet, very clean, well decorated, and had everything we needed. My two minor suggestions would be to add another towel hook in the master bathroom and to spray for ants around the tree trunk seats around the fire-pit. One in particular had an ant hill up against it. In addition to enjoying the fire pit, we were able to see deer, chipmunks, and lightning bugs from the back deck as well as a beautiful sunset. It was a 45-minute drive to our hike at the beautiful Crabtree Falls. We also spent some time in the Little Switzerland area - about 20-30 minutes away. Something to keep in mind - many restaurants are closed on Sundays and some on Monday as well. Thank you for sharing your cozy cabin with us!
House was great. A little bit of an adventure getting there for us city folk, but very rewarding once we arrived. The host, Gary, was very helpful during our stay. Would definitely stay here again.
I love everything about this home and location. I could sit all day just looking out over the field to the mountain range in the distance. Sunsets are especially gorgeous. And the home is really comfortable. We work while we're there, and the wifi works fine for two people (though we brought an extender to be safe). This was our second stay, and I hope there will be more.
My family and I had a wonderful and very relaxing getaway vacation during school break for the holidays. The cabin was very nice and well maintained. Would recommend for those trying to get away and relax. Very quiet area out of town.
The cabin was comfortable and a delight to stay at. The scene from the deck was extraordinary. There was plenty of space both indoors and outdoors for our family.
The photos of the mountain views online do not do it justice. Quiet area, when we first drove up there were wild turkeys and deer in the yards. The sun sets and sunrises are amazing while sitting on the porch drinking coffee. Beautiful place and well kept. My nephew proposed to his girlfriend now fiance at the cabin at the fire pit! Unfortunately my spouse through his back out on our trip and we had to call the ambulance to come get him at the cabin. The response time was very quick if ever have an emergency there! Hopefully we'll be renting again sometime in the future., we did enjoy the cabin very much.
We had an amazing time! The cabin is beautiful, very comfortable and cozy! Super clean! We enjoyed seeing deer every day! Would definitely go back there!!!
We were two couples interested in hiking Roan Mountain for the first time. Gary's cabin is in the perfect location just a beautiful 15 mile drive from the trail head. Gary's cabin is also the perfect sanctuary after a wonderful day hiking the Roan Balds. We enjoyed relaxing on the deck, rain and shine, while grilling our dinner. The cabin is very comfortable and very charming with stunning views of the stunning sunsets! We'd love to come back!
Everything was as described. Lovely mountain get-away with a great view. Quiet, peaceful, and very clean. Wonderful wrap around deck and a babbling brook. We thoroughly
We enjoyed our stay at this mountain cabin. The view from the deck and inside perch was pretty, especially at sunrise and sunset. We loved the fire pit. The Smart TV lent itself well to movie-nights. The town is small, and you need to drive a ways to activities, but we knew that. We brought food with us to cook, so we didn’t need to eat out except for the one night we went to the new brewery in Spruce Pine. Thank you for sharing your home!
This property perfectly achieved our goal: a quiet, remote mountain getaway. The property was cozy and romantic, with the gas fireplace and reading nook. Kitchen was nicely laid out, and relatively well equipped. Just 30 min from the Roan Valley and the Appalachian Trail means plenty of hiking options.
Wonderful cabin with all the amenities you could ask for. Excellent location for getting away and relaxing. Host was very helpful. Would definitely recommend.
This Bakersville cabin is a perfect place for a family trip. The views are stunning! The property is beautiful! My family enjoyed the cozy cabin for our annual Thanksgiving trip.
Came up just for a weekend and loved the cabins look and feel. Everything we needed was there and we enjoyed a bonfire under the stars. Most activities are a bit of a drive so my only advice to others would be to plan for that.

About the host

The owner grew up in North Carolina and has fly fished since he was 12 years old. The area offers several trophy trout streams for trout fishing. After building my cabin a few years ago, I realized more people should be able to experience the peacefulness of this wonderful place, even if only for a week or so. I currently live a few hours away and I hope you get as much enjoyment out of a Beary Cozy Cabin and I continue to have.
Why they chose this property
The peacefulness and tranquility of mountain living makes this area unique. A chance to get away and re-charge.
What makes this property unique
The unbelievably long range mountain views and spectacular sunsets are a beauty to behold. Abundant wildlife includes turkey, deer, rabbit, bear, coyote and more. A great family getaway or a cozy intimate place for 2. The large stone firepit is the center of attraction at night for roasting marsh-mellows or hotdogs.
