Nice property, but could use an update

We enjoyed the property, but the bedding and decorum needs updating. The pillows in particular were uncomfortable. I suggest an interior and comfort update would go a long way to make this great property worthy of a great review.

My husband, daunghter, and I spent a few days at this cabin and it was perfect. Comfortable, wifi, kitchen worked well. Appreciated the front porch for morning coffee. Everything was clean and cozy. We had a lovely visit and enjoyed some local hikes!

Comfortable, well-equipped, easy - but realize you'll be asked to purchase damage insurance

Spacious and well-equipped, quiet neighborhood, convenient location. Sauna works nicely. Only downside is requirement of either extravagant security deposit or damage insurance purchase - basically, another "gotcha" surprise NOT included in the displayed price, exposed only after you start to book. Since I decided to book anyway, I did not take any "stars" off the rating - but this is NOT fully transparent business practice, both VRBO and owner need to realize that.

Excellent stay for the mount baker area

The place was the perfect stay for hiking around the mount baker area! The house looks just like in the picture and it was clean. There was even a creek right behind the development that we could relax at after our hikes. The host was very responsive when I asked to change my booking. I would definitely recommend this place especially if you’re staying with 4 or 5 people because then it’s pretty affordable.

Very relaxing

It was easy to find, though Google maps was not accurate once into Glacier Springs. We appreciated the big towels - and the fans since it was hot during our stay. We only needed to add food and beverage for everything to be perfect. We were pleased with how quiet it was - exactly what we needed. We did Mt. Baker twice, Bellingham, Abbotsford, and Silver Lake. We will return!

Clean and comfortable

We really enjoyed our stay and loved the location close to Mt. Baker. There was still quite a bit of snow on some of our hikes, so later in June might have been better for some of the trails we chose. The weather was perfect and much warmer than expected: sunny and 80 degrees every day. The cabin was comfortable for us and our three kids and nice and clean. It was supplied with everything we needed. We would definitely be interested in renting again when we are in the area.

Sasquatch huse

The property was clean and well cared for, same with the cabin. An amazing number of toilteries were there, all quality products. House very clean and tidy, lots of cooking products. My friend suggested having some hooks in the unattached bathroom. The cabin kept warm inside ever though the gas heater didn't work off and on. Thanks to Kevin for getting it started but it conked out a few days later but not needed. I'd definitely stay there again, Gina is very responsive and a gracious owner. Skip

Stay at Sasquatch Cottage

The Cottage is located in a beautiful, scenic area. It was the right size for our family of 5. When I had questions prior to arrival, Gina answered them quickly. We were there for my son's wedding which took place on Mount Baker. I should have asked if there was AC available at the cottage. I had assumed there was or perhaps I missed it in the description of the Cottage that there wasn't AC. During our visit, there was a heat wave (temperature in the 90's) and it was very uncomfortable in the afternoon and evening. Also, perhaps the towels should be changed. They had a musty smell like it was forgotten n the washer for some time. Although we had these concerns, it was a beautiful home. Thank you, Gina for sharing your home with us.

Great house (one issue).

The house was perfect - clean, well equipped, in a charming neighborhood and within about 45 minutes to the trailheads. Just an FYI about communications. Less than three days before check-in I received an email from the owner informing me that the house was under a boil water alert and had been since February. I was assured the situation had improved such that some locals were using the water but Gina suggested bringing bottled water for drinking and cooking. She offered a full refund but at such a last minute notice I would have had to cancel my flight from the east coast and my daughter would have to lose planned vacation time. I understand these things happen and the situation ultimately was manageable. However, it was extremely stressful to get this news just days before our trip and with no helpful information about the nature of the water contamination nor information or resources about what we would need to do to keep ourselves healthy (e.g., how to wash dishes, if showering was safe), leaving it to us to find that information ourselves. After much research on my own, and finding a wealth of info on the local property owners association website (glaciersprings.org) I decided to accept a compromise of a $200 refund and proceed with our plans while bringing a LOT of bottled water. Aside from the annoyance and necessary precautions my bigger gripe is the last minute notification. We appreciated the refund and had a wonderful vacation in Gina’s great house!

Winter Wonder Land!

Stayed here in late December to go sledding and skiing up at Mt. Baker. Beautiful home that is well set up for the winter fun. Nice gas stove to warm up to and elevated boardwalks to the sauna (which was awesome). All in all, could not have asked for a better retreat at the end of our days adventures to rest and recuperate for tomorrow. Hope to be back next year.

Girls weekend

The drive to this place was beautiful during the fall season! When we arrived to the place the first thing that we said was the photos didn’t do this place justice! Everything was very clean, and beds were very comfortable. The cabin was fully equipped with many mugs, glasses, dishware, pots and pans, and utensils. There were extra linens if we needed them which I really liked. The property was cozy and perfect for what my friends and I needed. We hope to be back again!

Perfect Home Base

A perfect home base for our 5-day hiking exploration of the Mt Baker Wilderness. Perfect location to some of the best hiking in the North Cascades. The house is very comfortable, very clean, well-stocked with everything we needed, comfortable bed, great showers, complete kitchen. The sauna is a wonderful touch after a full day of hiking the surrounding mountains! We hope to be back to ex0lore some more.

Nice home

The house was nice, but didn’t seem like it was cleaned before we arrived. The sinks were dirty, dried toothpaste still in the sinks. The showers were not clean. There was hair on the shower walls, and the shower looked like they hadn’t been cleaned.

This is our third time staying at Gina’s cabin and every year we always want to stay longer. It’s a family trip and the cabin is well equipped with all you need to relax, cook a good meal, and disconnect. We enjoyed making meals in the kitchen, walks around the neighbourhood, nearby hikes, chilling and hanging out. We can’t wait for next year!

About the host

Host profile image
We live in Seattle and love the Northwest. We come up to Baker to snowboard as much as we can. If we aren't there, chances are we are out having fun and enjoying life somewhere else (outside of work anyway). We bought this cabin so we would always have a home to come back to at our favorite mountain if we ever decided to move.

Why they chose this property

We purchased this house to enjoy it ourselves, but thought we would rent it out between stays. It is only 30 min from the top of Mt. Baker and we love the area. Glacier Springs is easily accessible with lots of room between houses so you feel like you are in the forest. The neighborhood is set against the river perfect for short walks or long hikes and along the back you get a view of the mountains.

What makes this property unique

It's spacious and more than cozy for all guests. It was built with care and quality which is what caught our eye in the first place. We love the neighborhood and neighbors. The sauna is our favorite feature. The house is also perfect for families since it is all one level. Our little ones can safely run around. The house is the perfect mountain getaway if you need even just a couple nights out of the city.
