About this property

Charming 2 bedroom, 2 bath in Provencal Chateau -heart of Provence

You can see our reviews by going to our website at Moulin de la Roque -Noves and clicking on the TA link. Le Petit Moulin is a charming 2 bedroom, 2 bath villa/apartment located on the first floor/second story of the historic mill. It was just restored only two years ago to reveal the original stone walls and beamed ceilings of the historic mill. Grand balcony and glass french doors from master bedroom overlooking the olive tree and lavender gardens. The second bedroom, also a balcony with private stairs leading to your courtyard and private terrace and barbecue tucked next to the river.

Each bedroom can be either king or twin depending on your configuration of the group. The decor has also been completely redone with high-quality Provencal fabrics, furniture, and antiques. Modern, updated fully equipped kitchen and baths.

Quality furniture, comfortable with pleasing and relaxing colors. Charming ambiance, nice views of the estate and wonderful light. Very comfortable for any family or group configuration.

Le Moulin de la Roque is a historic estate where once a 15th-century flour mill operated. All of the old buildings have been cleverly and tastefully renovated to create a little hamlet or provencal village. All the lodgings are very private from the other as the estate is quite large. You will enjoy the expansive grounds, the seclusion (located between a large forest and a river) and the beauty of the park and gardens. It is peaceful, a little piece of Provencal heaven right in the heart of Provence. You can reach just about any well-known site in Provence in 15 minutes to 1 hour. Our village of Noves is only 800 meters so you can walk into town each morning for your bread or groceries.

The owners, Guy and Gaby would be delighted to welcome you as their guests. You have as much privacy or as much support as you need as the owners live on the estate and take pride in making very special and memorable holidays for their guest.

Lovely place to stay in Provence

We were most impressed by this beautiful property, its lovely gardens and relaxed setting. The owners and staff were most helpful, and obviously deeply committed to their guests and to the property itself. We strongly recommend it to others.

Fabulous place to stay!

What a beautiful place! We loved everything about Gaby and Guy’s place, from the great location, the comfortable apartment, and the wonderful hosts. We were able to drive to so many places in Provence and Gaby gave us great recommendations on how to spend our time in this beautiful area, including the delicious food and markets! We plan to return as there is just so much to see and do and we just couldn’t possibly do everything is a week. We had to reserve some time for just relaxing on this beautiful estate. Gaby and Guy are delightful hosts!

The Only Way to Experience Provence

We sadly just left Moulin de la Roque yesterday. The gorgeous property and the amazing owners reflect all the beauty and warmth that defines Provence. From the minute we arrived Gaby gave us a wonderful tour of the property, which ended with the tour of our beautiful apartment. From the living room to the kitchen to the bedrooms everything was so tastefully decorated, comfortable and well equipped. The views from our apartment windows combined all of the natural beauty of the setting and the history of the estate. The real gem of this place is Gaby, who was very helpful in securing reservations at wonderful restaurants that we would never have found. She and Guy made us feel so welcomed, and everything about this rental exceeded our expectations. The location for touring Provence is perfect, and we were guided by the excellent advice from Gaby on which villages to tour. Although we were sad to leave, we know we will be back next year because when you have had the experience we had at this rental property you will want to come back--to see more of Provence and the charming property and owners! Like a Movie Set!

How can we thank you enough Gaby and Guy for your fabulous hospitality AND creating this Provençal dream? Your beautiful Moulin de la Roque is everything we envisioned and more. Your care and pride of the property is evident. And we so appreciated that you were accessible for any questions or guidance for touring the area. We always say that the setting can be wonderful but it’s the owner and guests that you meet who make your trip really special. It was like family! You did a FANTASTIC job of creating your guidebook, which we used like religion! All of your recommendations were spot on. Your Petite Moulin apartment was wonderful for my husband & I and our friend who was traveling with us. Two beautiful bedrooms and two baths worked out great! We loved having breakfast in the kitchen each morning, looking out the open window onto the estate. We splurged on nice lunches daily in whatever town we visited, then retreated back home with wine and makings for a simple dinner each night. We loved eating outside under the vine covered arbor, too. Oh, and we could have taken Gucci home with us! What a sweet dog! Our only disappointment was that had just a week there. So much to see and do! We’d love to come back some day......but in the meantime, we’ll look at our photos and remember our fabulous week in Provence! Thank you again!

The most wonderful place I have stayed in my life. A dream come true. We will most definitely b back

The property was outstanding. But better yet our hostess and host couldn't have been more helpful and pleasant. I truly felt welcomed and was made to feel like family. Everyone in our group of 4 felt the same. Every moment of our stay was exceptional.

Beautiful and clean. Conveniently located.

We had a wonderful time staying at Guy and Gaby’s place. They are both very helpful. The property is very clean and well equipped for a long term stay. And, it is a very charming place. The location is very conveniently located to visit any major attractions in Provence. We will definitely go back again.

Kommen gerne jederzeit wieder.

Lovely location in the heart of Provence

We had a wonderful, albeit too short, stay at Guy and Gaby's Moulin de la Roque. The facility is wonderfully updated, while retaining its historical charm. The location is fantastic...20 minutes from Avignon, easy access to the Luberon or to Les Baux and Arles. Gaby is a wonderful hostess, welcoming us with a delicious chocolate cake; and then providing tourism guidance by day. In addition she made reservations for us at three terrific restaurants in the area. Just wish we had more time; and we definitely plan a return stay.

A place worth returning to.

Very nicely restored mill. The entrance road lined with oleanders beautifully sets the atmosphere for what is behind the gate. Very clean which is a big plus. Owners provide a warm and inviting vacation home. We made the short walk to town each morning for baguette and a coffee at the very friendly village cafe.

Wonderful , relaxing location

My wife and I spent a week this early spring and were pleasantly presented with the very comfortable "little mill" apartment. It is every thing like the photos. The estate has been transformed into a very restful haven for retired persons such as we are. However , there also were families with children staying in other apartments. With Guy and Gaby's help we were able to get to surrounding villages, markets and awesome landmarks in Provence. We are surely talking about going back

A Wonderful Time at Petit Moulin

Our family of four adults visit France frequently and were at the Petit Moulin for one week in mid-March. The apartment was very charming, clean, comfortable and quite spacious for the four of us while Gaby was most gracious in her accommodation, assistance, and a wonderful source of information. We were able to relax and enjoy the best that Provence was to offer due to the excellent location of the villa and its beautiful setting: approximately 15 to 60 minutes to Avignon, St Remy de Provence, Gordes, Menerbes, Bonnieux, Vaison la Romaine, Aix en Provence, Uzes, Pont du Gard, etc. We look forward to our return to Gaby's lovely villa in Noves, and thank her for all she did to make our last trip a very pleasant and memorable one.

About the host

Hosted by Guy Fallon and Gaby Janney

Host profile image
We are Guy and Gaby, your hosts at Moulin de la Roque in Noves Provence France.

Guy came from Belgium 22 years ago searching for an estate in France where he could relax, engage in some agriculture and enjoy the Provencal lifestyle and mild weather. He found such a place in the Moulin de la Roque.

A historic old flour mill (dating back as far a the 1500s), located in the countryside, near a small village but not far from Saint Remy and Avignon. It was nestled up to a mountain and rock cliff and surrounded by a lovely river. There were fields of orchards and a small vineyard and a grand chateau.

The only problem was that most of it was in ruins. He had no idea what he would do with it, however, being an engineer by education and an architect at heart, he had no hesitation to begin a renovation of the property which continues even today.

Guy met Gabrielle (Gaby), an American, 12 years ago when she came as a guest to the Moulin with some artists to paint. Air France had lost her luggage for over 10 days. At that time she spoke little French so he, of course, helped her to retrieve it. Thanks to Air France, she has never left.! Some say she is still there waiting for her luggage to arrive.

Guy and Gaby are passionate about their mill and their Provence and love sharing both with their guests. When you arrive you are their guests when you leave, you leave as their friends.

They delight in sharing their secret discoveries of Provence and get pleasure in watching their guests make and share their own discoveries.

Gaby loves to paint and often has art workshops at the mill. Guy is an avid hiker and would love to give you all his advice and discoveries of the quaint and hidden Provence wilderness.

Gaby who loves the villages and markets, cooking, décor, and shopping can give you expert advice if that is your passion.

You will feel at home in Provence at the Moulin de la Roque with Guy and Gaby as your hosts.

Why they chose this property

I came from Belgium 25 years ago searching for an estate in France where I could relax, engage in some agriculture and enjoy the Provencal lifestyle and mild weather. I found such a place in the Moulin de la Roque. A historic old flour mill (dating back as far a the 1500s), located in the countryside, near a small village but not far from Saint Remy and Avignon. It was nestled up to a mountain and rock cliff and surrounded by a lovely river. There were fields of orchards and a small vineyard. The only problem was that most of it was in ruins. Being an engineer by education, I had no hesitation to begin a renovation of the property which continues even today.

I met Gaby, an American 15 years ago when she came as a guest on my estate with other artists. Air France had lost her luggage for over 10 days. At that time she spoke little French so I helped her to retrieve it. Thanks to Air France, she is still here!

Along with Gaby, we have created 9 villas or a little 'Provencal village. Each year we continue to restore and create this little village paradise for our guests. People from around the world visit the Moulin each year and are surprised by its beauty, quality, and attention to detail. Some of our best compliments are 'it's so beautiful, even better than the internet site!'

We enjoy being your hosts and treat you as if you are a guest in our home. We are there to provide you with advice on the area, reservations for restaurants, help if you are sick or lost or any other support you may need. You arrive as guests and you leave as friends. The little piece of paradise was created with you in mind. We are passionate about our estate, Provence and about you, our guests.

Gaby loves to paint, the markets, charming villages and cuisine. I am an avid hiker and together we would love to advise you no matter what are your interests.

What makes this property unique

Staying in Le Petit Moulin at the Moulin de la Roque offers a unique mixture of stunning beauty, provencal history, community, new acquaintances, seclusion and privacy.

As it is also the home of the owners who live full time on the estate, Guy and Gaby, your English speaking hosts and their staff, will provide you with whatever you need. You will have privacy and support at the same time, a great combination for the successful vacation. It takes “self-catering” to another level!

The chateau-like atmosphere of the estate provides a wonderful ambiance to either stay on the estate or to come home to every night after touring the area.

The spacious grounds and structure of the estate are magnificent. The large swimming pool is secluded and secure for children. And in addition, there is a large park for children with plenty of games, including two trampolines.

The small neighboring village of Noves is within a short walking distance from the estate. It is quaint and still holds onto the traditional Provencal way of life.

Charming and historic, it is relatively unknown so free of tourists and souvenir shops. It has all the provisions you will need for your stay and friendly people who adore the occasional visitor from abroad.

Centrally located in the heart of Provence, the estate is close to just about any major site, most within 20-30 minutes. (Such as Avignon, Chateauneuf du Pape, Pont du Gard, the Luberon (Gordes, Bonnieux, etc.) Arles and the Camargue, and the Les Alpilles (Saint Remy and Les Baux).

For groups, the estate is ideal as each family or group, can take a house, all just around the corner, maintaining their privacy as a family or group, yet easily coming together in the large dining areas or terraces of each other’s homes for meals. And there is a lodging for every budget.

Just adjacent, there is a large forest, and mountain where you can take hikes each day in the midst of wild rosemary and thyme and enjoy the views.
