Excellent location, beautifully presented, ideal for a first visit to Paris.

Excellent location in the Latin quarter, two blocks from the Seine, walking distance to North Dame; very convenient to local shops, the Monge market, and the Metro. Light, airy, immaculate apartment, with a fully equipped kitchen. Small, as are many Paris appartments, but fine for two people. Kitchen fully equiped. This was an ideal place to stay for a first visit to Paris.

A great apartment in a fabulous area!

We loved this charming apartment - the area was absolutely perfect. Walking distance to so many good restaurants, grocery and bakeries and the Metro is at the end of the street!!! Easy to get to everything! Very clean and efficient. Highly recommended for a couple, single person or small family. Be sure to go to the amazing Patisserie Teillet for the best apple and berry tarts. Oh my!

Paris -all of Oct 2019

I have rented several properties in the 5th arrondissement for the month of Oct. but this is by far the best so far. Located on a side street off the very busy rue Monge, it is quiet and very well situated. Close proximity to the wonderful Jardin des Plantes is a real plus. It was part of every daily walk. I can see the metro entrance from my window just steps away. The apartment is in excellent condition. The kitchen is the best I have had in Paris - very conducive to cooking. The bedroom has a very comfortable large bed. The large glass table there served well as a desk during my visit. The bathroom has a large closet for storage of clothes. The lighting in all of the rooms and entry way is excellent. I hope to be able to rent this apartment another year. The only thing missing was instructions on using the clothes washer - but I managed. A larger dining table in the living room would be a nice addition although space might limit that. I have given this apartment a 5 star rating.

Perfect Location and Space

We really enjoyed this perfectly situated apartment in the Latin Quarter. The location is directly across the street from the Place Monge metro station exit and around the corner from Jardin de Plantes. Easy access to Paris city centre. We used the Velib bikes extensively and their was a station around the corner which was a perfect place to start and end the day by bike. This apartment was on the main floor of the building and was bright with big windows on a quiet side street. We found it to be quiet at night, though the apartment did get a bit warm with the windows closed until we figured out how to turn down the radiator in the bedroom. The bed was very comfortable and the room offered more than enough space for suitcases and such. This apartment is actually 3 separate rooms as the kitchen is separate with a very small dining area. But overall the space was perfect for 2, cozy, clean and spacious. While we didn't cook that much in the kitchen it was a good spot to have breakfast or late night charcuterie. The kitchen was well stocked with anything you might need. We had trouble getting the washing machine door open after it was used and had to start the cycle again. It didn't drain the clothes all together that well, but really who wants to do laundry on vacation so not a huge issue. Shower/bath had plenty of hot water and good pressure. We received our damage deposit back with no issues at all, in a timely manner. The owner was very responsive to any questions we had before or after our trip and check in was very easy. Overall is was a great and effortless experience and I would have no hesitation recommending this property to anyone looking for a beautiful place to stay in Paris!

Very clean and welcoming.

The apartment was very central to all the main attractions in Paris and in easy walking distance to bustling cafes, restaurants and the Metro. It was on a lovely quiet street next to a park, we felt like locals rather than tourists. Communication with the owner Thomas, was always prompt and very helpful. A reassuring aspect when making arrangements on the Internet. There was a person to meet us on arrival and go through all the features of the property in a friendly and supportive manner. I would highly recommend this property and look forward to staying there again in the future.

Great location, lovely apartment close to metro.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this apartment close to the Place Monge metro stop. Thomas answered our emails promptly. Everything was as described, and Wen, who helped us check in, was very nice and helpful. The bed was very comfortable, the sofa bed so-so. The apartment was spotless when we arrived, and it was great having 2 keys. The kitchen seems to have everything you need, although we didn't do any cooking. There is a bakery around the corner and down the block that had fabulous mini quiche and pastries every morning. We discovered one of our new favorite places in Paris only a couple of blocks away - Rue Mouffetard. During the day the markets and shops along the street are bustling and fun, and at night there are some great restaurants. We also walked over to the Jardin des Plantes, which is lovely. It would have been helpful to have been given RER train and metro directions from the airport before we arrived, as we ended up walking quite a ways from the RER stop at Notre Dame to the apartment. I'm sure there is a better way, but in our sleep deprived state we didn't do it right. If you do arrive at the metro Place Monge stop with luggage, exit the metro on Place Monge, not on Rue Navarre. There is an escalator at Place Monge, and what feels like thousands of steps at Rue Navarre. Also, know that you will not be able to check in before 2 p.m., as the apartment is being thoroughly cleaned. Lucky for us we found a bench in the park across the street from the apartment to wait, but that was tough after an overnight flight. Our deposit was returned promptly. We took a cab back to the airport, and I'd recommend booking one the day before, as we had a bit of trouble finding one the morning we were leaving. We highly recommend Thomas' cozy apartment, and will definitely book it again the next time we return to Paris!

Beautiful, Comfortable, Conveniently Located

This apartment was exactly as described in VRBO listing. It was beautifully decorated and the kitchen was well stocked for preparing meals if we wanted. It is conveniently located to grocery stores, cafes, and bakeries as well as being directly across the street from the subway entrance and a park where local families visited after their work day was over. It is very much in the heart of local French neighborhoods so getting immersed in the French culture and conversing with those who lived in the area was a great experience. It was wonderful to go to one of the local cafes and enjoy a glass of wine with the locals and away from most of the traditional tourist sites at the end of the day. There was an entrance to the subway about a block's walk where tickets could be purchased or if you already had tickets/pass there is a subway entrance directly across from the apartment's front door. Thomas was great to work with through out the whole rental process. He had someone meet us at the apartment with the key and rental agreement as soon as we arrived in Paris (I'm sorry I have forgotten her name, but she was very welcoming and made the check-in process so easy as well as having some great recommendations about the area). The apartment is on the first floor of the building and slightly above street level so the windows could be kept open at night and while we were there during the day (but closed obviously when were gone). It was still warm in Paris while we were there (upper 80's daytime) and since the apartment is not air conditioned (most are not) the only thing lacking in the apartment was a fan since it took awhile to cool off after the sun went down and I am in 'hot flash mode' during this time in my life as well:)! This was THE perfect time to visit Paris - weather was perfect, schools are back in session so way less crowded. We hardly stood in any lines to get into any site including the Eiffel Tower and we got to see everything we had planned to see during our 4 day visit. I would DEFINITELY recommend Thomas' apartment to anyone visiting Paris.

Sehr schöne Wohnung in toller Lage!

I would not recommend this place

I am disappointed with the apartment and with the way the owner handled things. The apartment is quite old with some damage on the walls and floors. It is located next door to a room inside the building where they keep garbage dumpster used by the whole building. Plus there is a toilet in that room too. The apartment does not have any air conditioning or ventilation. Room windows open to the street with people walking 3 feet away from the window. So you can not open the window and still have privacy. The bathroom window opens into that dumpster/toilet room, so not much help from that either. The internet is extremely slow and unreliable. The TV is basic free stuff with nothing to watch. The set of kitchen items is minimal. The washer is antique and there is no manual. The bed is not comfortable. The apartment is much simpler than what you see in the pictures. You can see that they used the same vases with artificial flowers at different spots to take these pictures. The stairs shown on the picture have nothing to do with you. They lead to upper floor and the apartment is on the ground. This apartment is close to the subway station, but the subway line runs pretty much under the apartment and you can hear things tremble when a train runs by. But here is most important part you should know about. When we arrived, we had to spend half for paperwork. The owner had us sign the rental agreement and multi-page inventory where they list all items in the apartment, including furniture, kitchenware, etc. their condition and the condition of the apartment itself room by room. The inventory is in French, and it is inaccurate, which the owner acknowledged when we found extensive damage on the kitchen wall not listed in the inventory. They charge the cleaning fee, but then the owner insists that the apartment has to be left in the same condition as it was when you arrived and they are not kidding. In addition to the cleaning fee, they withheld ~90GBP from our security deposit for cleaning without producing any evidence showing any unexpected need for clean-up and now they want even more. This is done despite the fact that the rental agreement says that the security deposit can be used for damages and replacement of missing items, but not for cleaning. I do not recommend this place. Staying there spoiled our Paris vacation.

Cozy Apartment with a Wonderful Location

We had a wonderful month-long stay in this apartment. The friendly owner met us on arrival and went through the apartment giving all the information we’d need for the stay. The owner was very easy to communicate with throughout the stay. The living area is cozy. The bedroom bed is firm and comfortable. The bath area is good sized and has a large closet/storage area. The kitchen is well stocked and contained everything we needed for cooking. Parks and green spaces are within walking distance. There is a metro entrance very close. Buses are also convenient. An outdoor market is about 250 meters away. Shops for other necessities are all very close. We’d definitely consider the apartment on a return to Paris

wonderful location and cute apartment

We loved this location. It is on a quiet street near the Contrescarpe which has so many restaurants to visit. Our main objection is dealing with the "owner". Firstly, we sent him our arrival time twice, and the person greeting us was misinformed and had to wait many hours for our 7PM arrival. Fortunately, we had her contact information and had texted her earlier in the day. It was still too late as she had already left home. When we arrived, weary from travel, we had to read and sign 7 pages of itemized inventory all printed in tiny font. Were we expected to check for chips on plates and count the cutlery? There was no information about WiFi, nor the necessity of using a fob to get back through the 2 entrance doors. Fortunately, we met some helpful residents who showed us what to do! The crowning blow was excessive fees for cleaning! This information was buried in a 2 page contract which we did not read carefully enough. Normally, HomeAway states any cleaning fees in the "details" of the total cost. This was not shown. When our very large security deposit was being returned, we were informed that this very large cleaning fee was being deducted. This was for 400 square foot apartment which we left immaculate! (beware of white slipcovers on couch and dining chairs). Of course, it was a good lesson for us, but the owner's response to our questioning was arrogant and uncalled for. We are seasoned travellers and have rented apartments in Paris and elsewhere around the world for many years and have never encountered such an unpleasant experience. Lovely quiet apartment in nice building and neighbourhood.

Small but perfectly formed! Everything you need in a one bedroom apartment, roomy bedroom, kitchen and bathroom with a small sitting room in between. Meticulously clean, comfortable and welcoming. Owner couldn't have been more helpful with any queries as was Wen who met us there and showed us round. Lovely foodie neighbourhood, very residential and untouristy with a Metro right outside the door. I will book it again.

Comfortable, pleasant, well equiped, centrally located

We highly recommend a stay in the apartment. It is comfortable (though one more chair in the living room would be a great addition), well equiped, nicely decorated and well furnished. Appliances are modern. View of the park lovely. Located centrally in a real neighborly neighborhood. Bed is comfortable, heating available you get cold, plenty of hot water....an all around good deal. We were sorry we had to leave.

Perfect Gem of an appartment in an outstanding location

Location,Location !!! The apartment is in the 5th, and a short walk to the Seine, Rue Mouffetard, Jardin des Plantes, Boulevard Saint-Germain, two metro lines, two grocery stores, and endless possibilities of restaurants, bakeries, and specialty shops to fulfill every culinary dream. Yet the apartment is on a quiet street across from a very green park where children play . The apartment itself is very well appointed and seems larger than depicted in the photographs. The kitchen has all the necessary appliances, though we hardly made use of them. The living area is comfortable and it's great fun looking out the window and watching the children in the park. The bedroom becomes a perfect sanctuary at night by closing the door to the living area and latching the outside shutters. But now we come to the lack of a fifth star...the bed and pillows ! As some others have mentioned, the bed was, for us, rock-hard, unyielding. Extremely difficult to sleep in, until we located a second duvet, folded that in half, and used it to somewhat cushion the upper halves of our bodies. That somewhat alleviated the sleeping issue, but I really think that a foam or other cushioning mattress top would be a much appreciated addition and rate that additional star. And as hard as that bed was, the pillows were the exact opposite, totally non-supportive. There were three pillows each on each side, which we used,as well as two additional ones we found on the premises to try and elevate our heads. Perhaps we're a bit fussy, but I cannot function without a good nights' sleep. Other than that, the apartment is spacious, comfortable, very quiet and safe/secure with multiple locked entry doors to access the apartment door...sort of a fortress. During our 11 day stay in mid-March 2017, there was comfortable radiator heat and fast, reliable, and I hope, secure internet/wi-fi. We did not use the TV and entertainment system. The owner seems absolutely oriented to help and assist in any reasonable way he can to facilitate an enjoyable experience in his Paris apartment. Every time we called, texted, or e-mailed him, there was an almost instant response. A great location to enjoy all that Paris has to offer.

10th Anniversary Dream Vacation

Apartment: 4.5/5 Location: 5/5 Overall Exp: 5/5 Wife and I celebrated her birthday on the 8th and our 10th anniversary in Paris after not seeing each other for three months due to my work taking me to all the worst places on the planet. This trip was important. Budget was focused on experiencing things outside the flat but the flat was required to have a romantic charm. We were going to immerse ourselves into the Latin Quartier culture so we wanted walking distance to good cafés, brasseries, bars, and shops. Bonus: walking distance to most anything touristy. We found the perfect balance due to this location which provided us the best home base imaginable. Apartment: Elevated ground floor with a view overlooking a beautiful park surrounding an old arena. Apartment is quaint, homey, and charming. Everything worked as advertised. The bed could be more comfortable but I believe that's the only thing that could be improved (yet it didn't take away from our overall experience or sleep... And the wife is picky about her beds ;)). The Streubers were absolutely amazing. We didn't need anything, but if we did, contact info was swapped and I had full confidence they'd come to our aide in a New York minute. We received our deposit back when they said we would. They didn't sweat the details even though I usually cover my bum regarding both pre and post rental walkthroughs. It was more of a personal experience rather than business. 100% trustworthy folks. Location: Bread and butter. Zoo around the corner, a short walk to the Pantheon, Gardens, and pretty much anything else. Über or bus to a few places north of the river. Grocery store right down the road. Oddly amazing tea at the Mosque around the corner. Great eats everywhere. Be sure to cross Monge and hang out in the Mouffetard area. This is all Old University stomping grounds... Great food, drink, prices and service. Even better people. We met a couple that helped translate getting my pizza order right down the road from the flat. They sent us a surprise care package to our house in Texas a couple weeks later. Did I mention great people? If you found this review integral to your decision to choose this HomeAway gem, and you find yourselves enjoying your experience as much as we did, stop by the "Brewberry" (off Mouffetard and Pot de Fer) and tell Marine that Shaun and Carleen said, "Hi!" If she says Simon is around, buy them both a beer for us! You won't regret it. Enjoy!

Very Nice Location

If you like to wake each morning with a back pain from the extra firm mattress, this is the apartment for you. If you like to have the bedroom bright yellow from the streetlight across the street, this is the place for you. If you like to flush toilets three to four time before they begin to be clean, this is the place for you. Otherwise, this is a great quiet neighborhood with fabulous bakeries, fruit stores, butcher shops and local markets six days a week. Ask how to operate the washing machine, dishwasher, stove and oven since we found that we were guessing and not always correct.

Zuhause im 5. Arrondissement

Nach dem warmherzigen Empfang (thank you so much for your warm welcome and your kindness throughout my stay, Wen!) in der wunderschön eingerichteten und sehr gepflegten Wohnung, habe ich mich dort sofort wohlgefühlt. Sandra

An excellent location and an apartment with a blend of traditional and modern features

We stayed here over the Christmas holidays. The apartment was warm and comfortable for a couple. It is larger than the pictures indicate and has all the basic requirements. The location is excellent for the left bank, Jardins de Luxembourg on foot as well as the Rue Mouffetarde with its interesting bars and restaurants. Excellent boulangerie just along the Rue Monge to the left and a local Carrefour nearby too. Underground stations of Cardinal Lemoine and Monge nearby and we would recommend if you arrive with luggage to take the Monge exit and not the Rue Navarre exit as the latter has a lot of steps and no escalator ! As for the apartment if there were more dishes/cutlery etc that would be good for home cooking and the use of the dishwasher as well as perhaps refreshing the cooking utensils ?. We have already recommended this to friends and family as a very good base for a sightseeing trip to Paris. Elaine and Bob . .

Elegant Abode

This apartment is ideally located on a quiet street with easy access to two metro lines and lots of shops and restaurants on Rue Monge and Rue Mouffetard. The apartment was very clean and the furnishings were comfortable and decorous. The two fireplaces added to the charm. The washing machine and the other appliances were easy to use. Tom was very solicitous and helpful. The Jardin des Plantes is quite close and many plants were still in bloom in early October. Luxembourg Garden is also not too far if you are a walker. The Cluny Museum and the Pantheon are attractions we enjoyed that we could walk to. The ice cream shop Amorino and the adjoining bakery off the Contrescarpe are two places not to be missed. are well worth a visit.

Excellent location!

Location, location, location! This property is in the beautiful Latin Quarter with 3 metro stops within a very easy walk. Place Monge metro is directly across the street. Very secure apartment in a very nice neighborhood. Lots of great restaurants/cafes, shopping, and grocery store nearby. The apartment is exactly as it appears in the pictures. Everything is as described in the listing. I have rented in the Latin Quarter before, so the deciding factor for me was the prompt reply and customer service from this owner. My son and I stayed here for a week and were very comfortable. I will definitely recommend this property to friends and colleagues.

Why they chose this property

The Latin Quarter is one of the most attractive areas of the French capital. It is located centrally but still keeps its original charme "à la française" and its irresistable Parisian flair.

The apartment is located in a quiet side street with almost no traffic. Enjoy a fabulous view to the green park. Many shops, restaurants, cafés, bistros and pubs are nearby available. Visit the vibrant variété night show at the famous "Paradis Latin". Explore "La nuit à Paris" for lovers and life artists !
