Charming Pet Friendly Chalet, Great Location, Walk To The Lake

Come relax at Lake Tahoe in our family’s charming chalet on the beautiful and peaceful West Shore. Our cabin is updated and completely furnished.

Each of the four bedrooms (two upstairs, two downstairs) contain a queen size bed and all linens are provided for your comfort and convenience. Each bedroom also has individually-controlled baseboard heating. The two bathrooms (one upstairs, one downstairs) have been remodeled and updated.

Just bring your food and favorite beverages and enjoy preparing your meals in the modern and fully stocked kitchen. And if you forgot to bring something, the local (and newly remodeled) Tahoma Market is just a short drive or a 10 minute walk. They have great sandwiches too! For coffee drinkers or gelato lovers, check out "Where We Met," a cute little (seasonal) coffee shop just down the street.

During the warm summer days you can relax on the deck while enjoying the serenity of the West Shore, and when it gets chilly outside you can cozy up inside with a roaring fire in the wood burning stove.

A short walk to the beach -- only two blocks away! Provided with your stay is full access to the beach and pier at the Water’s Edge. You can also walk or bike to Sugar Pine Point State Park, or hit the slopes at Homewood Ski Resort less than 3 miles away.

My family and I had a great time during our winter vacation. The cabin offered everything we needed. Communication with property manager was great. The wi-if worked very well which allowed me to do some work. We were very content with the space and overall area.

Christmas at tahoma

The cabin is cozy and well equipped! Enough rooms and bed! There was even extra foldable kids bed! We are a Mexican family so to have a comal lol (tortilla pan) was a big plus and a surprise! We were able to see it snow and even see a bear family around for us that was exciting! The lake is less than 1/2 mile walk! Several sightseeing are close by and the sugar pine national park was a beautiful place for our morning walk! (Less than a 1/4 of a mile away!! Host communicated very good! He even has a binder with the closest restaurant and fun activities near by! Definitely recommend

Cutest cabin in Tahoe!

We had a great stay here! Close to trails, room to grill and hangout outside, and play boardgames inside. Plenty of space for our group to have big dinners and then cuddle on the couch next to the fire. I would definitely recommend this place!!!

Great break

The cabin was exactly like we imagined. Maybe not precisely in the middle of nowhere but close enough. Well equipped (especially the kitchen) for a stay longer than the 3 nights we were there. We would go again in a heartbeat Gary the owner really helped us answering our questions before arrival and also quickly replied during our stay Points of consideration (but would not stop us from renting again) Add additional pillows on the beds. Not everybody likes hard or soft. Maybe open a window or two on the day of arrival of the guests. Now the air was a bit “old”. The kitchen table could fit all of us but the couch and easy chair did not. The 5 of us managed but if 8 people would stay it could be an issue Again great stay. Recommend to everybody

Will definitely be back!

Property was exactly as described and fit all the needs for our stay. There were enough rooms to fit the different families we had traveling and gave everyone their own space. Perfect place for kids! The park down the street was a nice surprise. The set up of the house made it easy to block off the upstairs so the littles stayed downstairs. Communication with the host was excellent. We’ll definitely be back.

Great value

We enjoyed our stay. Several attractions within a short drive, but not a lot in walking distance. House was clean and the bedrooms were spacious. Everything worked properly. Outdoors/yard space is a bit limited. Lots of parking.

Great for families together

We enjoyed staying in this rental during our trip to Lake Tahoe! We visited with four adults, a child, and a dog. Given that this is a pet-friendly property, it was nice to see that it was in good general shape, though the routine cleaning was middle-of-the-road. A lot of the house was dusty and the upstairs bathroom was sandy when we arrived. This wasn't a big problem for us, but it might be for others.

Will be back soon!

We had a wonderful stay at the cabin. Amazing location - super close to the beach, a playground, and the local restaurants/market/ice cream spots. The house was exactly as pictured, and I appreciate that it was well stocked with basics like baggies, salt/pepper, ketchup, etc. Check in was super easy, and we had no issues during our stay. When we were leaving, my 5-year-old asked, "when we come here next time...", so I guess we'll be back next summer!!

Very nice log cabin in lake Tahoe

The house is comfortable, the kitchen well organized, it was perfect for our family of 6, under the shade of trees. We appreciated the walking distance to the small beach to relax after a morning hike. Instructions for check-in and to keep the house safe vs bears were helpful!

Gutowsky Cabin

The property location was great. The cabin had all the facilities that made our stay comfortable. However, the cabin was not cleaned properly. The couch in the living room had a lot of pet hair and the floors didn’t seem to be mopped. The side tables and bed headboards were little dusty.

Great spot!

Had a great time at Gary’s place. Terry, the property manager, was very helpful as well. Unfortunately the washing machine broke before our arrival, so we didn’t have access to it during our stay. Terry let us know in advance and both she and Gary were accommodating to our arrival time, even though it was outside the checkin time. The cabin is great! Plenty of room for our group of 8 that spanned infant to adult. Plus a dog. Board games and a well stocked kitchen. It’s close to the lake and multiple state parks. We especially liked Sugar Pine Point State Park nearby. There’s also a playground down the street for the kiddos to run out their energy. Highly recommend!

About the host

Hosted by Gary Gutowsky

Host profile image
I grew up in the Bay Area and my parents, my brother, and I have enjoyed vacationing in Lake Tahoe since the mid-60s. We bought the lot in 1972 and built the cabin ourselves in 1976. After retiring from the Air Force in 2011, my wife and I settled in the Sacramento area to be close to our kids and so we could spend more time at the Lake. Since then we have spent a considerable about of time at the cabin and love being there. When we're not there, I spend my free time teaching part-time at Sierra College and volunteering with Junior Achievement of Sacramento.

Why they chose this property

We love the West Shore of Lake Tahoe! That's why we've been coming up here as long as I can remember. There is so much to do here, or not...it's up to you. One of my favorite activities is to walk down to the pier at Water's Edge in the evening and check out all the stars. It's amazing and so relaxing. Another fun activity is a bike ride around the neighborhood or through Sugar Pine Point State Park. As a very recreational skier, I love skiing at Homewood. It's only a few minutes away and it's a great family ski area with some of the best views of the lake. I think my favorite time of year there is the Fall. The days are still warm but the nights cool down so it's a perfect time to sit outside during the day and cozy up to the fire at night. And since the kids are back in school, it's not crowded there at all. Lake Tahoe is my favorite place in the world...any time of year!

What makes this property unique

Our cabin is a labor of love. We built it in 1976 as a family project with the help of a few friends. Although it was built with many hand-me-downs, it has always been cozy and comfortable. We updated the kitchen in 2006 and the bathrooms in 2013. Also in 2013 we replaced most of the furnishings. We're very happy with the way it turned out--maintaining that rustic charm while providing all the modern conveniences. Come check it out!
