Torre del Cielo is a beautifully restored 17th-century villa that embodies the essence of modern hospitality while ensuring complete comfort for its guests. Its name, meaning “Tower in the Sky,” reflects its elevated position, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Valtiberina valley and the surrounding Tuscan hills. Originally built as a lookout tower in the early 1600s by Ferdinand II of the Medici, this historic structure once served as a watchpoint to protect against enemy incursions.

Located just 2.5 kilometers from Monterchi—the last piece of land of the Grand Duke of Tuscany and famous for Piero della Francesca’s fresco, “La Madonna del Parto”—Torre del Cielo is steeped in cultural heritage. In 1894, Francesco Rosadi, the grandfather of the current owner, expanded the tower, giving it the charming appearance and dimensions it boasts today.

Recently restored, the villa retains all the characteristics of a traditional Tuscan country home while offering modern amenities. Guests can enjoy a large swimming pool (6 x 12 meters, depth 150 cm) that is perfect for refreshing summer relaxation. The pool area is equipped with sun loungers, umbrellas, and a gazebo, ensuring privacy and comfort while soaking up the sun. The expansive 2-hectare garden has been lovingly maintained by the owners, featuring olive trees, organic peach and plum trees, and a fragrant array of roses, lavender, and rosemary that fill the air with quintessential Tuscan aromas. Guests are welcome to help themselves to the delicious fruits during their stay. For those seeking activity, the property includes a small five-a-side football field, a ping pong table, and scenic walking paths through surrounding oak woods.

The villa is 250 sqm and before we go inside we would like to admire the original structure from the outside. The form, as well as the material used, are typical of this area. Stone is the dominating material, but also wood plays its part, as does the wrought iron used in the outside furniture. The windows have been modernized, but the style fits in well with that of the villa. Some of the original wooden doors on the inside have been restored maintaining the original style. The most important part of any hospitality structure is obviously the bedrooms. The bedrooms, all with AC, represent the highlight of the Tuscan rustic style. Wood, “cotto”, wrought iron materials. The furnishing are simple, almost severe, but this is part of the Tuscan country house. On the other hand, in the bedrooms we can find the perfect combination between rustic style and modern comforts.
