Explore the charming villages and experience the tranquility and open space of the island.
The Veerse Meer, the waterway separating Noord- and Zuid-Beveland, is a hotspot for water sports. Enjoy a boat trip across the lake, or try your hand at water skiing and wakeboarding. The lake is dotted with twelve small islands accessible to visitors, perfect for a picnic or a peaceful nature walk. Along its shores lies the historic town of Veere, an atmospheric stop steeped in rich history.
Zuid-Beveland captivates with its blooming orchards, flower-covered dikes, and picturesque villages. The Zak van Zuid-Beveland, a scenic region between the Oosterschelde and the Westerschelde, is ideal for cyclists and hikers looking to explore the countryside. This area is also home to Goes, a historic town with a lively center, and Yerseke, a charming fishing village famous for its oysters and mussels. Here, you can indulge in Zeeland’s finest seafood and even witness a traditional mussel auction.
On Walcheren, Zeeland’s most densely populated peninsula, you’ll find vast sandy beaches and rolling dunes—perfect for long walks and bike rides along the coast. Zoutelande, often called the “Zeeland Riviera,” boasts beaches with a unique southern exposure. Other popular seaside destinations, such as Dishoek, Breezand, and the Badstrand in Domburg, offer the perfect setting for sunbathing, swimming, and relaxation.
Beyond the coastline, Walcheren is rich in history, with towns like Middelburg, Vlissingen, Veere, and Domburg waiting to be explored. Middelburg, Zeeland’s capital, is known for its impressive monuments, inviting shopping streets, and charming squares. Vlissingen offers a vibrant boulevard with spectacular views of passing ships, while Veere retains its old-world charm, where history comes to life in the scenic harbor.
Zeeland truly has something for everyone—whether you seek peace and nature, lively villages, or cultural experiences.
