Perfect Location

Our sister lives on the other side of the park so this was the perfect place for us to stay. We were able to walk to her place, and walk to the park for a family reunion. The lake and the kayaks were an added plus.

Lake Huron Rustic Cabin

My family enjoyed our stay at this property. Just a short walk to a beautiful private beach for sunning, swimming and rock hunting. The owners were just a few doors down and quick to respond to any inquiries.

Beautiful Beach Cottage

Cute, clean and a stone's throw from the beach!! Our dog loved it too! Small fenced in back yard was perfect for our 10 pound pooch and he loved our daily walk/visit to the beautiful private beach! Our dog didn't want to leave and neither did we!

Wonderful getaway

The house is so charming and is in a perfect location. It is just a very short walk to the beach. There was so much available for our use - kayaks, beach chairs, wagon., beach towels. This was our second time renting this vrbo and we hope to go back next year.

Great owners and neightborhood

My partner and I stayed here for a week with our dog, Loretta. The cabin was exactly as described, and some aspects that made it even better! The yard is small but fenced in, a huge plus for a nervous dog owner. Every person we met on our walks was friendly, kind, and appeared to love dogs. The beach is stunning and quiet, and the house has everything you could possibly want to enjoy it. Maybe our favorite interior feature was the kitchen, which was spacious and modern. Fort Gratiot is a couple of miles away, making it extremely convenient to purchase last minute items or get a bite to eat at one of the small diners. And, for me, having two ice cream parlors less than 10 minutes away was a huge plus! I already miss the Carrot Cake ice cream at Milkhouse and the friendly service at Pepperoni Cow. The whole experience has us thinking about where we want to retire; this was just lovely. Thank you!

Great place to meet half way and enjoy Lake Huron

When I walked in, the place surpassed my expectations. The log cabin feel makes you so comfortable and relaxed. Nice decorative touches without being over the top. I like the books, games and other simple decorations. Bathroom is nice, clean. The kitchen has a bit more of a modern feel. Not too big, just right to store any food you bring. All the utensils you need. There is a small yard in the back and expect some rabbits to come visit you along with some squirrels. Crossing over the yard, you take steps to the top of the garage where there is an extra bed room. Before you go into that spare room, you will find your self on a deck with a table and chairs to read, talk to a friend or enjoy a view of the park on the lake. The home is in a private neighborhood. Nice homes all around and the residents seem friendly. It's a very short walk to Lake. There is a nice park for kids and of course a sandy beach. You also get to peer into Canada, watch big boats carrying cargo and wind turbines in the far far distance. The sunrise is a must. My only regret is that I didn't stay longer.

Relaxing fall weekend

Our family had a terrific time staying at this house. The location is unbeatable, close to a small private park and beach and Fort Gratiot County Park. After an emotionally draining year, this was exactly the type of vacation we needed. Four adults, one toddler, and our dog fit very comfortably. We found that it had more than enough amenities, especially in the kitchen. We cooked every meal there. At first, it was very windy and cold, but it warmed up. We’d love to stay again next summer if possible when it’s warmer.

Comfortable cabin -- great location

The cozy log-cabin provided everything for a comfortable stay a few steps from the neighborhood beach. It felt at home and relaxing: especially liked the secluded inner-yard. The owners thought of every detail with love and attention. We enjoyed our stay & glad that we found this pearl on Huron lake shore.

Fort Gratiot Rest and Relaxation With a Toddler

What a great little getaway! We couldn't have been more pleased with the location of this hidden gem. The beach (with a bonus park which includes a swing-set/slide for the kiddos) is literally just down the street. This was perfect for keeping our almost 3 year old entertained. Fort Gratiot County Park is also within walking distance and is another great option for a family. Our daughter loved the playground there, which was recommended by Joy and Julia. Let's talk about the house! It's super clean and had everything we needed! You truly just have to bring food and drinks (or eat out with several options nearby). Joy and Julia have taken care of the rest, and I'm confident that if we had needed something, they would have made it happen. The loft area is obviously not toddler friendly but we knew that from pictures and brought a baby gate which worked well. The bonus room over the garage was our favorite space for sleeping (we brought a single air mattress for our daughter and it was perfect). Keep in mind that there is not a bathroom in this area. It's just a quick walk down the stairs and directly into the house. We had a slow drain in the shower but Joy was immediately on the case and took care of the problem. She was attentive and checked on us a couple of times via text to see if we needed anything, etc. We truly enjoyed meeting Joy and Julia, and the people in the neighborhood were equally as friendly. We look forward to going back! Thanks J&J!!

Perfect vacation!

We truly enjoyed staying in Joy and Julia’s home! It is the perfect mix of modern and vintage authentic and was impeccably neat and clean. The location is awesome with quick walk to beach, areas for family walks and bike rides as well as close to great local attractions. It was relaxing and helped us recharge and get ready for the fall. Thank you for a wonderful week and unforgettable memories made!

Great escape!

My husband and I are a little strange about staying away from home - we tend to bring all the things with us and make ourselves as comfy as possible. One of the big things that helps with that is being able to bring our dogs, Butters & Tulip! We contacted the owners (Joy & Julia) ahead of time to warn that our dogs are not tiny and that we wanted to make sure that was okay - they reiterated the rules about the dogs being leashed and cleaned up after, and we were reassured! Joy & Julia were very welcoming and accommodating. They allowed us to check out late because there was no one after us and we had literally everything we could have possibly needed at the house. The walk to the beach is so short that we were back and forth pretty regularly and it was thankfully warm enough for us to enjoy going into the water with the doggos quite a few times! It was so nice having the owners to the place a few doors down with the knowledge that we could give them a holler if we needed, but they also didn't hover around making us feel like we weren't able to have our privacy. It was a wonderful weekend get away for us and we are so happy that our dogs were welcomed and accepted there as well. We hope to return!

We purchased this cottage because we fell in love with the beautiful beach and peaceful community. We love introducing the east side lakeshore to new visitors and repeat guests.

The 'Sunrise Side' of Michigan is really it's best kept secret!

Why they chose this property

We really feel that this is one of the best kept secrets in MI. Lake Huron is amazing providing us with beauty, Petoskey stones, beach glass, boats, freighters, sunrises, kayaking, standup paddling, snorkeling, sand and sun! We are conveniently located near a state and a county park with walking trails, bike paths and great small towns like, Lexington and Marine City. You also have the option of going international with a quick trip to Sarnia for a casino visit or a day trip to Niagara Falls.

Detroit is an hour away which offers a major airport, sporting events and more.

What makes this property unique

There aren't many original lake cabins left, but this one gives you rustic charm with modern amenities. Its a beautiful, peaceful private community and so relaxing. Located just 500 feet from an extensive shoreline where you can walk along the lake for miles.
