relaxing getaway

This is a great little house on the lake. A few surprising things: the house is located in a dry county and the closest spot to buy any adult drinks is a 40 min drive! So plan ahead. Also, there were cameras on the outside of the property which is fine but one was pointed at the hot tub on the back porch. We felt kinda weird about that, especially as there was nothing mentioned in the description... The dock is not really connected to the property as you need to walk down the steps and cross a street to get to it, also- there is a canoe on site but it is locked up! it would be great to allow guests access to it. With that said we had a great stay- the beds were very comfortable and we had a beautiful view. Swimming in the lake was refreshing and hiking in the area was beautiful. Be prepared to drive daily as there is nothing really walking distance (other than the dock of course).

Super lake-side getaway!

This is a lovely property in a beautiful setting on the shore of Lake Santeetlah. The view from the home is fantastic from sunrise to sunset. The home is large with 2.5 baths and 2 bedrooms. We spent most of our time on the two porches overlooking the lake. The large spa was on an open porch and the other porch was screened. The property is also pet friendly! All amenities are available; nothing lacking! The whole house is beautifully decorated with fishing related pictures and nick knacks. We are marathon runners, and the running conditions could not have been better! Beautiful, paved roads with various hills for training. The whole area is clean and quiet. We highly recommend this property if you are looking for a quiet getaway with lots to do in the vicinity.

Great gettaway with the lake right there!

The best cabin for families with our without kids. Was stocked with everything we needed. Great sunset over looking the water each night. The stairs can be tricky both going to the house and the lake. You can drive around to the road and the lake if you need to. How tub was the cleanest and nice size for 4 adults. Gas stove and washer with dryer are great. The town near by has a good size grocery store and walgreens, got anything there you may have forgotten. Dry country. Can't wait to go back.

Really enjoyed our stay here.

Very well maintained property. Would rent again. Many of the properties on this lake have stairs leading down to them. Be prepared to decend. The view of the lake and the mountains in the background is peaceful, relaxing and very enjoyable. You will not be disappointed with this property.

Love staying here

This was my second time staying at the cabin. Air conditioner broke but owner was in constant communication and had it fixed immediately. We were riding bikes so by the time we made it back it was cool.

This place is not handicap accessible

Disappointed that description did not state that you have to climb steep steps to access home and the lake..

Great spot

The house was lovely with a beautiful view of the lake. We loved having access to the lake which was awesome, the dock to tie up our canoe to made getting in paddling every day a breeze. Being able to have our dog with us was key. The hot tub was fabulous. Zach was a great host with super speedy response times. We will definitely be keeping this spot on our list for future lake trips!

Peaceful, enjoyable and sweet

We loved our stay here. It was just the space we were looking for to celebrate our big day! The hot tub got daily use, the boat dock offered us good views of the sunset, and our breakfast mornings were made better by the screened in porch nook. We will come again for sure!

Very clean, and well stocked. Relaxing place to spend quality family, or couple time.

Have been coming to this lake for approximately 50 years. The area has always been a great place to get away from the crowds. Lois and Zach have a little piece of heaven here, of which I'm glad to have been able to stay if only for a short time. A deck coming off the living room would complete the experience, because of the house being set back from lake edge, across the road from dock. Access to the canoe on site would be a nice bonus also, but otherwise, it was a very clean, well stocked home, with everything in working order. It has ample parking for 3-4 cars, easily. Would definitely consider staying here on future visits to the lake.

Wonderful location

Thank you for sharing your lake house with us. Lake Santeetlah is one of the best kept secrets in North Carolina. Beautiful, peaceful, and pristine. We had a wonderful time. The house was clean and the kitchen was well stocked. The view is beautiful. I would have given a 5 stars but the only suggestion I would give is to continue the railings down along the stone steps to the dock. The wooden steps all have railings But the stone steps do not. That is really where there should be railings. Other than that for the money the place is well worth it.

Overall, an excellent rental!

cabin is very spacious and well-equipped for all kinds of cooking and family get together’s. It’s important to note that the sleeping arrangement doesn’t really offer single beds. So if you have people coming that are not couples you had better bring a blowup bed. really everything else was very very nice. Quiet, peaceful and conveniently located. Some people may have difficulty getting up and down stairs to access the cabin. Also the washing machine and dryer were incredibly helpful. We brought extra beach towels and were able to dry them and reuse them. After all, swimming and the hot tub are a big highlight! Overall, an excellent rental!

Quite Peaceful Tranquil Serene Lake house, that happens to be in the middle of motorcycle heaven

My wife and I were looking for our 1st motorcycle vacation. This area is a haven for motorcycle riders. We also wanted a nice, relaxing place to stay. The Lakefront Cabin was the best of both worlds. We were amazed at how peaceful the lake was.The cabin was spacious, with 2 master bedrooms, eat-in kitchen and a nice screened in porch. It was great to be able to sit down on the dock, and jump in for a swim. The cabin had everything you would need. There was plenty of level parking for cars along with bikes. You are tucked back in a lake community with paved roads, that made getting in and out on the bike a breeze. Being a lake house, all the neighbors were friendly too! The motorcycling was better than I had imagined. There was plenty to see and do at the end of each ride...we hiked to waterfalls, went zip lining, found nice restaurants, small family stands, southern hospitality (and sweet tea!) everywhere. The hot tub felt great after a long day of riding.

Steep Descent and Picture Misrepresents the Actual View

From the pictures that were shown on the web and the description, we did not think that this would be so difficult to get to up and down the steps. Our elderly 84 year old mother struggled a bit with the stairs to get to and from the cabin. She tried the back steps down to the roadway leading to the lake, and she had to watch every step because of the difference in height of each one. We were unable to use the dock as it was listing to the right and the ramp to it was underwater at the end of the steps. I went down to the dock and tried to fish from the last step (the landing before the underwater ramp) and found it impossible due to the ropes holding the dock to the shore. These steps were also very steep and the ramp had no railing to hold on to. Inside the cabin we found the kitchen to be very nice and well stocked, nice floors, and the screened in porch was nice, but the furniture had really dirty pillows for the chairs such that we would not sit on them without covering them with our beach towels. The porch had extra things on it that were not necessary that made it hard to do anything out there, so we moved the table back toward the door to make a little room. The living room was nice and large, but the furnishings were extremely outdated (velvet) and were covered with throws. The windows had a film on them so that it even obstructed watching a sunset. The bathrooms were nice, the washer and dryer worked well and was convenient. Our biggest problem during this stay: WORMS. The small worms with lots of legs nearly took over our last night there and were present the whole week. We also killed many spiders in the cabin. A good exterminator is recommended for this unit. We did not use the hot tub because we could find no steps to get in to it.We love Lake Santeetlah and have family and friends in the area that made our week enjoyable. We will visit Lake Santeetlah again, but the steps and bugs would keep us away from this cabin.

Tail of the dragon

My wife and I, and another couple, enjoyed our stay in the lake front cabin. We loved the screened porch and spent most of the time there, either visiting or eating. There was plenty of room and each bedroom has a private bath. We would rent again, if in the area. There are lots of steps so come prepared.
