Family Vacation

What a great place to spend time away from the big city. The place is quiet, peaceful, and rejuvenating. Just a short drive or hike from many trails and/or scenic places to visit. There is shopping, golf, jeep tours, trails, etc. within minutes of this cabin. May I recommend the Hot Springs pool. What a great place to relax and have fun (5 minutes away). The cabin itself is a wonderful place furnished with the comforts of your own home. You can cook your own meals, sit and watch TV, gather to play games, view the millions of stars in the sky, etc. my family enjoyed cool mornings or evenings on the porch. My family looks forwards to a return trip.

Perfect Family Getaway

Tucked into the quiet woods between Ouray and Ridgeway, this spacious house was exactly what our family (6 adults, 3 couples) was looking for in a vacation. We used the decks often, both for many meals and for watching the wildlife (hummingbirds, wild turkey, deer, and of course, chipmunks). The open floor plan on the main level was lovely, allowing for a great view of the outdoors whether we were in the kitchen cooking or playing games in the dining area. The kitchen was well stocked for our cooking needs, choosing to cook for ourselves instead of eating out most meals. The master suite is gorgeous and we all fought over which couple would take it. The mattresses are high quality and we were all grateful for the comfort, a nice change from most rental places. We ventured into Ouray almost everyday, as it's only a 5-10 minute drive. The owners were wonderful in responding to any questions we had by email and phone, both before arriving and during our stay. When our family visits again, we won't hesitate choosing a place to stay. This is a gem!

Fantastic family vacation

Perfect place for our family and some friends to stay for a week. Everyone could spread out but also gather for games, meals and hanging out. Nicely appointed with everything you need. Decor is nice without being over the top. Great location to get to Ouray, Ridgway and also Telluride for a day trip. Owners were very nice and helpful as well.

Mountain Cabin

We loved our visit to this beautiful cabin. Everything was so clean, beds are very comfortable. It was tucked away by itself but not far from town. The home was big enough for our six but could have easily held the 10 it advertises. There is so much room for everyone to not feel cramped. We enjoyed playing games and cooking quite a bit. Owner is easy to get ahold of and answers any and all questions. We felt very at home. There was room for our trailer with UTV so don't let that be a worry if you are traveling with that toy. No complaints, we will definitely stay here again!

Best of Both Worlds!

The property offered the best of both worlds...in more than one way. It was accessible to town yet off the beaten path enough to give great views. The neighbors were quiet and though we knew we were close to civilization, we also enjoyed the beauty of the landscape. The home was clean and comfortable with a great mountain-cabin ambiance yet more than enough amenities for comfort for the entire family.

So beautiful and very family friendly. More than enough amenities. Perfect all around.

Decided to make it a family vacation when we came out to attend niece’s destination wedding held at the Beaumont Hotel. Was best decision we made to rent Brady’s beautiful home and use as our “home base.” Everyone from 2-1/2 to 70 enjoyed a most comfortable space and within close proximity to everything we planned to experience. We spent our short time venturing out each day to experience Jeeping, the Hot Springs Pool, side trips to Silverton and Telluride, a mine tour and, of course, attend the wedding and spend time with our relatives and friends. We enjoyed breakfasts and morning coffee on the deck with humming birds fluttering around all over the place. Have never seen so many before. Did not see bears or moose, but deer meandered through and we discovered signs of other wildlife on little hikes around the surrounding area. Brady, our host, was so accommodating from start to finish. We can tell he genuinely takes pride in his home, loves the area, and cares that his guests enjoy themselves and experience all this Ouray area has to offer. We experienced probably only a “drop in the bucket” but that time spent there will be engrained in our minds and treasured family memories forever.

Relaxing place to come unwind

We came to town to do some Jeep trails in the Ouray area with friends. There was plenty of room in the house for 4 adults to spread out and not be on top of each other. The deck was a great place to eat dinner and watch the world go by after a long day on the trail. I'll definitely stay here again the next time we're in town.

Comfortable House, Great Location, a Restful Getaway

This is simply a great house and very well run. Everything was extremely clean, kitchen is well-equipped, the beds are comfortable and well-written and professionally presented instructions seem to always be just exactly where you need them. We appreciated the little personal touches too: hummingbird food (with instructions on how to mix for the feeder), a card game "gift" left on the game table, etc. You will be pleased with your decision to stay at the Rest Inn Ouray!

Beautiful family retreat

This is a beautiful cabin set in the mountains near Ridgway and Ouray. As a family of married adults and one baby, we took our first family vacation to the Rest Inn. We love Ouray and its surroundings and we loved the cabin and its seclusion. We liked being able to cook family meals together, watch the hummingbirds and relax in the peaceful solitude of the cabin. After a day of fun, it was nice to return to the cabin, cook dinner and be together afterward, chatting or playing games; which would not have been possible with multiple hotel rooms. The cabin was large enough to give everyone privacy and yet meet larger family needs. It was nicely furnished and outfitted. The guidebook provided the necessary information and was worth the read, and the owners were very attentive in making sure our needs were met. We would not hesitate in recommending this cabin and will return for a repeat vacation. Thanks Brady and family for the enjoyable stay!

Meeting our Expectations

We have visited Ouray as a summer vacation spot for the last 4 years, and in July 2017 had the opportunity for my entire family and their spouses to join us. The Home was very nice, everything worked and was in good condition, sleeping 10 very comfortably. The Rest Inn meet all of our expectations and is a comfort to know that when you arrive at a Home for rest and relaxation that is what you expect, this Home exceeded our expectations. Just as a side note, if you are trailering your side by sides or 4-wheelers, there is very limited space to turn your trailer around. On a scale of 1-5, I would rate this home as a 5 and would not hesitate to stay at the Rest Inn again. RW from TEXAS,

The house is absolutely gorgeous and the owners do a great job to make sure you have all you need!

We couldn't believe how large and beautiful the house was when we first came in. There was plenty of space for two families with kids, and an uncle. The owners go out of their way to make your stay nice and ensure you have what you need. The location is great, right between Ouray and Ridgway with a short drive to both. The cabin definitely offers a quiet get away, but is also close enough that you can enjoy the trails and outdoor activities. We would definitely stay again.

Our Special Celebration!

My husband and I were going to celebrate a very special anniversary in June, our golden wedding anniversary! All I wanted for our celebration was to spend a week with our family, our two children ,their spouses and our five grandchildren! So we picked a beautiful town that we love, Ouray, Colorado and then we started looking at vacation homes in that area and when we saw the Rest Inn, we knew that was the one we wanted to rent for our family! When we arrived, the entire family was overwhelmed with the beautiful home, and the entire surroundings of its location! The home was equipped with everything we needed, there was not a thing we lacked the entire week! Brady, the owner, stayed in touch with us to see if there was anything we needed! Our week was filled with lots of activities for the entire family! It was truly a wonderful, blessed week with beautiful memories we will never forget! And staying at the Rest Inn with our family was a big part of making our special celebration so great! Thank you Brady, for sharing your beautiful home with our family!

Rest Inn - Aptly Named

The Rest Inn proved to be just the place for my wife and me to kick-off the next phase of our retirement life - traveling to beautiful places and staying in a 'home' atmosphere for an extended period. It is clear the owners take great pride in keeping the cabin clean and well appointed. Brady and Donna were always responsive to our needs and were delightful to work with. The cabin in particular is located in a place with easy access day-trips to Ouray, Telluride, and the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. Provided was access via DVD to the movie 'True Grit' which was filmed in the Ridgeway area. We enjoyed watching it and then finding the places nearby where it was filmed. As avid cyclists it was fun to ride the mountain passes. (recommended for road riding is Hwy 62 toward Telluride as it has a good shoulder and the nearby mesa north of 62 and for mountain biking Owl Creek pass - access just north of Ridgeway on Hwy 550). Also recommend the sedate bike path to Ridgeway State Park, We recommend this property!

Perfect Ouray Retreat

We LOVED our time at this wonderful vacation home! The setting was perfect. Looking out the back porch you feel you have the mountain all to yourself with hummingbirds to watch during the day and stars to watch at night. It was very convenient to Ouray where we spent the day hiking, shopping, and relaxing in the hot springs pool. The beds were so comfortable and the kitchen had more than we could ever need. We loved playing games every night. A great set up for large families or multiple families. So beautiful and relaxing, we can't wait to come back!

About the host

Hosted by Brady

Host profile image
When our family first discovered Ouray, we booked plans for a return trip before we even left town. The spectacular San Juan Mountains are the ideal setting for hiking, biking, and rock climbing.

Many Ouray experiences captured our very soul: soaking in Hot Springs, hiking Box Canyon and the Perimeter Trail, or climbing the towering Cascade Falls.

Our kids enjoy hiking the open spaces, going down the two small water slides at the Ouray Hot Springs, or biking the State Park.

Like a gold prospector willing to sell everything to buy a claim, we found a way to buy this cabin home. This spacious, attractive, secluded cabin drew us in as the perfect place. We take great pleasure in sharing this cabin home with you, our friends whose names we know and those we will come to know.

We intend you find that the Rest Inn Ouray, CO offers space for the rest and refocusing you need with your friends and family. No, we are not a chain of inns—this cabin is our home. We liked the double meaning of “rest in Ouray.” Please enjoy our home and the surrounding forest and mountains of the Western Slope, leaving them better than when you arrived for our next guests. We hope that, like our family, you will return again and again to Rest Inn Ouray.

With love and thanks,
The Bryce Family
