Damariscotta lakefront house - relax & enjoy Maine's coast
Whether you are inside or outside you can relax with with the calming view of the lake. Sit by the lake and read a book, try to catch a fish from our dock, or explore the lake on the kayaks and stop by Spectacle Island and try the rope swing. Hungry? Cook a burger on the new grill and enjoy the amazing view or try one of the great restaurants 5 minutes away in downtown Damariscotta. Want to explore further? Take a day trip to the Pemaquid Lighthouse or Pemaquid beach and enjoy a lobster at Shaw's in New Harbor with an evening cruise on the Hardy Boat. Lots of exploring of the coast of Maine in Damariscotta and Pemaquid area possible and a little further in Rockland, Camden and Boothbay too. While there is no better place to be in the summer, fall is wonderful too. Lots of festivals in the summer and the famous Damariscotta pumpkin fest is in October.

Location was absolute perfection! Lake is beautiful, very quiet and peaceful! Only minutes from our aunt and downtown Damariscotta! Host was very helpful and easily accessible when needed. Did I mention that we loved the location?!?
Good value for a lively stay. Enjoyed kayaking to spectical island and doing some rope swinging! Only suggestion is to improve the dock. Hosts were fast communicators when we had questions. Thanks for a great stay!
Had a wonderful time with our two small kids at this house. Plenty of space and we enjoyed being on the deck and in the yard in the shade under the tree. We brought our motor boat and it’s so close to the boat launch which is great. Loved having the windows open to feel the fresh air.
We spent our 41st anniversary there and had a great relaxing time. Nice village nearby with lots of choices of things to do or visit.

Damariscotta Stay
The location of this property is excellent. The house is right on the lake with dock access. Dock is small and dated. House is definitely in need of repair. Windows/screens are in poor condition - we killed at least 30 flies the first day we were there and were not able to leave windows open because screens were in such bad shape. Beds were very uncomfortable. If anyone has trouble with banks, this would not be the place for you. The bank leading to the dock was pretty steep. We actually left a day early!

Great Cottage on Damariscotta Lake
The green cottage was a great place to stay. We know the area very well because my wife is from Waldoboro. We never stayed in a cottage on the lake. Since we sold the family house in 2010 we were looking for a cottage instead of a B&B.
Don Hunt welcomed us and explained the property and answered question. We found this online and liked it from the reviews and pictures. It is even better since the owner took some of the recommendation other renters had left. It has a nice leather couch now and has been repainted. Everything you need is in there. You name it and you find it. There were also a canoe and two kayaks, a floating dock which is nice if you swim and want to get back on shore. In the morning we had breakfast at the dining table in front of the window overlooking the lake. It was little warm with the son shining right on the window in the morning. Maybe some blinds Don Hunt? There are 3 bedrooms, one with two single beds upstairs and two with queen beds on the main level. The walk-out basement has a washer and dryer. Outside is a small porch with table and chairs and there are also chairs on the lawn. All in all a great place to be. 5 Miles from Damariscotta. Thanks Don Hunt.
Perfect location; Newcastle/Damariscotta is a liovely town. . Loved waking up to see the sunrise over the lake. Well-appointed kitchen. Laundry an extra benefit.
If you appreciate nature---glorious sunrises, full moon glistening on the lake---ducks, geese---and the peacefulness of watching cows graze on the hill across the street as you stand at the kitchen sink---then this is the getaway for you. Warm, sunny days afford the perfect opportunity to enjoy your morning coffee on the deck---or an afternoon beverage---looking out on the lake. We were sad to leave!
The property was great, cottage had everything we needed and when we needed a little extra Help, Don was there.
Everything about this place was excellent. The two draw backs for me was they didn’t have an outdoor fire pit and there wasn’t a beach area for kids to wade in, but they had a dock and the kids could swim off that. The cottage did have a fireplace to make up for the loss of a fire pit. I would definitely rent again. Don was a great host and we already recommended the cottage to friends of ours. The view was exceptional, we didn’t want to leave.
The cottage was clean and very well stocked. We were there in November so it was very quiet. We liked the surrounding area and made a few day trips. The owner was nice to deal with.
We are happy to return to the Green Cottage this summer. Owner Don is responsive, the property is well-kept and the location is perfect. We hope to make another return next year!
This was our second trip to this home. It is a super value in a beautiful location. The kitchen is very well stocked. Don is very helpful and even delivered lobsters to us. We love to swim and kayak to the island and play on the rope swing. We hope to return again.
We loved our stay here at the Green Cottage. The location was amazing. Got to see the moon rise, and the sunrise! Wish the weather had been better, but it gave us down time to recharge. Thoroughly enjoyed the fireplace!
Don was great and very accommodating. Thank you Don!
My only issue was the mattress in the lakeside bedroom. It definitely should be replaced. Other than that, the place was awesome!

There was nothing we needed that wasn’t provided by our hosts. The cottage was well situated and beautifully decorated and when a storm knocked out power (for a short time) our host was on our doorstep with additional flashlights and candles. We couldn’t have asked for better!
The Green Cottage was old but clean and comfortable. Gorgeous water views and great swimming and kayaking. The sheets and towels were of good quality, the kitchen was well stocked. Laundry in the basement was super convenient. Could have used more and better chairs for the yard. Yard was on a slope which was not real conducive to hanging out and there was not much shade. Overall a good value though.
Everything was great we were even able to check in an hour early. That was nice after driving all n
The place was exactly like the pictures. We loved the place, and would stay there again.
