Not as expected.

We expected rustic. We did not expect the cottage to be dirty and in disrepair, ie. outlets not working, lights and windows broken, screen door broken letting bugs in. Only 1 fan for the entire place. Once we got past this and attempted to enjoy the lakefront area, I was confronted by one of the HOA members, who told me that the only allowance we had for the week was to launch provided watercraft. If a family member wished to sit/stand on the beach while others are out, THIS WAS NOT ALLOWED. Very unwelcoming and uncomfortable environment. The owner was unresponsive to my concerns and told me I could use other beaches in the area if we wanted to sit and look at the water. For the high premium that we paid, we expected to actually use the advertised facilities and not have to feel monitored by other members of the housing association. This was not a comfortable feeling. Especially as the complaining individual was also sitting on the beach, reading... doing the exact same thing he said we were not allowed to do. He stated this was only for 'owners'.... however the lease agreement for the week should have afforded us the same access (it actually states we need to keep the beach clean--why does it say that if we aren't allowed to use it?).... or at least have had those restrictions spelled out in the advertisement / agreement. Renter beware

Ashland

Enjoyed the property. Only issue was the screens. The screens were not cleaned before we got there and were filled with bugs and spiders webs. Also, the screen in the bathroom off the dining/livingroom doesn’t fit and we got tons of bugs in the house.

Wonderful lake cabin

We had a wonderful time at Lisa’s lake cabin- it was just how a lake cabin should be- a rustic yet comfortable space, cozy beds, fire pit- and although we got distracted by hiking in the White Mountains- comes with use of kayaks, a canoe and paddle boards! Very close walk to passage flowing into Little Squam Lake. Lisa was Very responsive and a great host! Highly recommend!

cozy cottage

Ashland NH is a wonderful place and the perfect cottage was to be found there. There were many things to do and the river and beach were nearby. The house had plenty of room inside and out. Look forward to going back and would recommend this property.

Amazing location and amenities

This cabin was perfectly situated just a minute walk from Little Squam Lake. There was access to all kinds of lake gear: kayaks, paddleboards and a canoe. And the town of Ashland is charming as well. We loved the peace and quiet during the week, and the few neighbors we saw were very friendly. We even heard loons on two of the nights. The cabin suited this family of four quite well. It's small but with 2 bedrooms, and we didn't need a lot of space indoors since we spent so much time on the lake. We had a great time and would definitely return.

Exactly what we were looking for at Squam

The vacation cottage was incredibly spacious and delightful; it had everything we needed and had several different rooms in which you could sleep allowing for privacy. Lisa is a gracious host and let us place a volleyball net in the huge yard so when we weren't at the beach or cooking out we were playing around the net. You can do it all: kayak, canoe, swim, jog, hike and BBQ or bonfire right from the cottage - all without using the car! We're planning on renting again and again ; ) lp
