About this property

What a wonderful property located at This non smoking property is an all brick ranch located across the street from the Piankatank River with super views as well as access to a small sandy beach. The River House is 2000 sf and can accomodate up to 8 guests. Enjoy the Canoe, play some ping pong, relax in the sun room, go fishing, or just do nothing at all! Bedroom number 1 has a queen size, Bedroom number 2 has a Full and a set of Bunk Beds, Bedroom 3 is the Master with a Queen and private full bath. The Kitchen has all Cherry cabinets and stainless steel appliances. The River House has central heat and air as well as brand new double hung windows. The Dining area has an awesome view of the river with a bay window that can let in River Breezes!
Don't Forget about the best room in the house on the end...The Sunroom; ideal for relaxing, watching a movie, or taking a nap!

Duke of Gloucester Street (featuring the Williamsburg Taverns - King's Arms; Christiana Campbell's and Shields Taverns) 58 min. Yorktown (Riverwalk Resturant is our favorite there) 36 min; Urbana (Urbana Oyster Festival is Nov 2-3, 2012) 34 min; Gwynn's Island (Gwynn's Island Festival June 28-29, 2013) 24 min; Deltaville (Cocomo's Resturant) 22 minutes; Mathews Courthouse (Mathews Market Days Sept 7-8, 2012) 20 min; Our favorite pottery is The Poddery (Owned and operated by Robert and Karen Podd) in Foster 14 min; Gloucester Courthouse (Daffodil Festival April 6-7, 2013) 20 min. Holly Hill Antiques on Route 14 - 11 minutes; Mathews Courthouse has a farmer's market on Main Street each Saturday morning. Favorite grocery store - Food Lion in Mathews Courthouse. Favorite fresh vegetables -Ware Neck Produce in Gloucester Courthouse. Wines come from Kelsick Specialty Market in Gloucester CH (they'll also order any wine you want). ABC stores in Gloucester CH, Mathews CH and Deltaville. Best fried seafood is Seabreeze on Gwynn's Island. Closest pizza - Stan Strings - Cobbs Creek 10 min. We also love the Crazy Crab Resturant in Reedville (1 hour).
They just opened a BREWERY on Main Street Gloucester court house!! Hooray!

Family Wedding

Absolutely wonderful layout for family. The space is very open and inviting. House supplied nicely with linens, kitchen supplies etc. Very nice water access for kayak or canoe. Can't wait to go back.

Nice house with lots of room

This is a very nice house with a lot of room. We enjoyed the tiny beach area across the street. Unfortunately there was a lot of jellyfish so no swimming. The only thing that was a little weird was the abandoned house right behind us with 4 strathehouse with 4 stray cats.

Our short stay

We came to Gloucester to help a friend out- and a few of us went to the quilt show in Hampton. House was perfect size for 6 adults to stay. Waking up seeing the river was a great start for the day. House was clean and as advertised. We will stay here again!

Perfect for a Williamsburg getaway

The place was perfect for us. It was close enough to the theme parks while far enough away from the main tourist areas to experience some local flair. I loved sitting on the side porch in the evening and listening to the frogs.

Family getaway

This was a great place to meet up with family to enjoy a few days together. The house was well stocked with what we needed to just visit and be together. A very remote area but not a difficult drive to sight see and find things to do in Yorktown, Jamestown, VA Beach and Williamsburg.

Peaceful

We loved the house. It had a nice view of the river and was located in a very quiet and peaceful area. It was nice to be able to go out and do all the touristy things and then be able to come back and relax at the house. It had everything you would need and we cooked out on the grill a few times which was nice. The owners were very helpful when the power went out and kept us updated when it would most likely be back on. I would definitely recommend this lovely home for anyone planning on visiting the area.

Great Getaway

The River House Getaway is a fantastic location with beautiful views of the Piankatank river and lots of space. The house was clean, stocked with towels and linens and kitchen cookware we needed. The hosts were great to work with! We really enjoyed our stay there.

Beautiful home away from home

We had a great family stay at this property on the York River. Great early winter view. This property is great for large families/family gatherings even in the winter. Could use some sugar/coffee in the kitchen & more detailed description as where to dispose of our trash at the end of stay. We highly recommend this property, can only imagine how much nicer to stay during the summer.

Great Family Hideaway

This was our first experience using VBRO and it did not disappoint. There was plenty of space for the six of us to enjoy a well furnished home. The homeowner was very responsive to our needs and insured that we were comfortable. If the opportunity presents itself again, we would definitely come back.

Such a great time

This house was amazing. Open and inviting, it was better than we had hoped. Plenty of seating in all rooms, it was great to have a room available for whatever we wanted to do: talk, watch TV, or hang out and read. It was out of the way and quiet, but still within about 20 minutes of any sort of activity that we wanted to engage in. We loved staying at this house and will definitely be staying there again if we are in the area.

Nice rural property across the street from river.

Big home with very spacious rooms. Nice living room with comfortable and intimate seating area. Fully equipped spacious kitchen, nice dinning area for 6-8 adults. Large TV room/excess sleeping area great for watching TV and kids to sleep. 3 bedrooms have very nice Kirkland linen’s and are very well appointed. Bathrooms are shower over tub with nice shower heads and enclosures. Great heating system kept us cozy in cold weather conditions! Fireplace we didn’t use. Weber barbecue we enjoyed for grilling. Good laundry area. We were all senior renters in later October for a Croquet Tournament in Hartfield but I’m sure house is great in Summer for families with kids, lots of water toys and bikes outside and beach and water across the street. A few items needed upgrading that I shared with owner. Minor upgrades I’m sure they will do. Would definitely recommend!

Fabulous

We drove up from SC for a wedding. It’s a long 6 hr drive and what a relief to arrive here. It was so comfortable and we felt right at home. Lots of space. The kitchen had everything we needed. We loved the view of the river! The home was super clean, probably the cleanest VRBO we have stayed in! There is a Food Lion about 20-25 min away. The wedding was at The Shores of Cedar Point which is about 20-25 min from the home. So much nicer to stay here with our family rather than a hotel. We would definitely stay here again.

Great place to stay!

The house was very nice and clean. The only complaint I have is trying to wash the linens before leaving. If you have a stay here with the full amount of guests it would be difficult to complete the laundry before the 11am check out time. Also made it worse that the previous guests left their laundry half done and I didnt notice this until I went to wash ours. Other than that it was great.

Williamsburg vacation

The house was great. I don’t think anything was lacking. We took advantage of the fire pit two nights. It was a little far from Williamsburg. But for the price of the house, the quiet location, the picturesque river and everything the house had to offer the drive was worth it.

An awesome place to relax!

Beautiful home!

My husband and I stayed here with my mother and autistic son. It was a great place to relax! My son had plenty of room to move and we liked that it was secluded. We enjoyed the ping pong table too! Everyone in the area was very nice. My only suggestion is to make sure the emergency lantern has batteries and a few more candles would be useful as we did have a storm and lost power for about an hour and a half. The washer and dryer are amazing and efficient and dried things very quickly! Everything was as described and we had a great time!
