We had the ultimate fall experience . Glory Be located on the most charming pretty peninsula with colorful fall foliage and located on gorgeous Atlantic shore. I can honestly say 1 have never stayed in a more peaceful location ever. Our host Dee gave us perfect tips where to dine and hike and bike etc. Loved every minute
Glory Be offers a comfy stay with a very pretty view of Union Bay. The kitchen was outfitted with high quality pots and pans, utensils, plates, glasses, mugs, etc., so we had everything we could have possibly needed and then some. The house was clean and the beds were comfortable, and the deck was a relaxing place for morning coffee and listening to the birds. Communication with Dee was excellent. Thank you!
My husband and I and our 9 yr. old Labrador spent a wonderful 10 days at 'Glory Be'. Disregard the dated furnishings and focus on the open living area with sliders overlooking both open fields and the Bay from inside and out! So helpful that the deck is dog-safe. (Hopefully the steps to the water directly from the property will be repaired for the next season.) We would definitely consider returning.
We had a fantastic time at this place! The house was extremely well stocked and had everything we needed. Dee was fantastic about all communication. The views can’t be beat! We loved going on morning walks with our pup and bringing her down to the water. Our only small note was that we weren’t aware that we didn’t have direct beach access at the time we booked. It was easy enough to access from next door though. We loved everything about our visit and hope to come back!
The home was clean, comfortable and complete built to avail itself to every spectacular view Maine could offer. We enjoyed incredible views of the moon shining off the water in evening and beautiful sun rises in the morning.the property manager Dee was a super and resourceful hostess always available when you called upon her. I'd highly recommend Glory Be as a wonderful place to unwind and re-energize for your next Maine vacation!
We loved our stay here - the view onto the water from the deck is spectacular! We set up our badminton net in the backyard and enjoyed a lot of fun on the grounds. We also set out exploring all of the great communities, beaches and lobster shacks in the region. This is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy some quiet but also the perfect spot from which to take day trips to enjoy the region.
A pet-friendly house, a well-supplied kitchen and a huge deck to maximize the beautiful views of the bay and Acadia. We found ourselves driving to Acadia most days, but there’s plenty to do in nearby Blue Hill. We wish we had known that the property’s private beach was inaccessible because of storm damage this winter - otherwise our stay was perfect.
Glory Be’s location was perfect for us. We wanted to feel secluded and away from touristy areas but wanted to have a reasonable drive to visit Acadia or venture along the Bold Coast National Scenic Byway. This checked all the boxes. This home has a beautiful view from a huge deck, perfect for catching the sunrise each morning! The house was clean and well-stocked. The internet worked great, so we were able to communicate with the outside world even when we didn’t want to! The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of storage space for your clothing and personal items.
Yes, the home looks a bit outdated in some ways. If you’re looking for a new home with all new furnishings, this house isn’t for you. But, if what you are looking for is a cozy home where you can literally feel the love that went into building it, then this is the PERFECT choice. There are so many sweet little “Easter eggs” that you will discover when opening a cabinet or looking on a shelf for something that remind you that this was a family’s home and endear it to you. They brought many smiles to my husband and I during our stay and only added to its charm!
The host, Dee, was wonderful - friendly with a wealth of local knowledge to share. She was extremely responsive when we lost power during strong winds and heavy rain. She was quick to respond to my texts, helped us locate some candles, and kept us in the loop regarding the outage status as they tried to restore power to the local area. Thank you!
Loved the house and the setting. Beautiful views of Arcadia and simply stunning setting with the breeze blowing threw fields of wild flowers. Great location near Blue Hills and Arcadia. Look forward to going back!
What a glorious stay we had at Glory Be! The home was cozy and well laid out, with wrap around views out to the water and Acadia in the distance. The porch was terrific for indoor/outdoor living with meals, games, and reading inside and out. The kitchen was well-furnished--perfect for our family who loves to cook and grill and eat together. We had kayaks delivered to the property so we were able to go out for a paddle whenever we felt so inclined. That is, between our local bike rids on Newbury Neck or further afield at Schoodic Peninsula, and our hikes at Acadia and local preserves, and exploring the nearby towns for meals, coffee, books, and just poking around. Property Manager Dee was super helpful and responsive and gave us all the tips we needed to have a just-right Maine getaway! We'll be back!

Fabulous location but property needs updating
We enjoyed our stay at Newbury Neck Road. Unfortunately we hit a rainy spell in June during our stay and we had our dog with us and the ticks were rampant. Be prepared if you bring your pet. The overall house is dated and the furniture needs refreshing but the fireplace is fabulous -not something you think you are going use in June but we were able to take advantage of it most nights. Dee, the property manager is very responsive and a wealth of local information - the location and Dee is why we gave it a rating of 3 stars otherwise it would have been lower.
We loved everything about this place, from the warm cozy fireplace at night to the incredible sunrises from the porch in the morning! The colors and views were spectacular this time of year! Every little thing was considered in setting up this home for the perfect stay! Dee, the property manager, was the best at communicating, giving recommendations and referrals, and just being available to answer our questions! We highly recommend this beautiful home and location for your next vacation!!!
This is a hidden gem, stunning location in Surry, Maine. "Glory Be" is surrounded by nature - Mount Desert Island, fields, wildlife (deer, foxes) and more bald eagles than you can count. The deck is a dream to drink coffee on each morning or drink in the late afternoon. Our 2 pups loved hanging out on the deck which was gated, very secure. It's a very clean, well equipped house. For any cooks, it's outfitted with every gadget you could ever think of. Dee - the property manger is a lovely person to interact with and very knowledgeable about the area. We'll definitely be coming back to this hidden gem in the future.
We had an amazing stay at Glory Be! The house was clean, well stocked, and comfortable. The porch and outdoor living were exactly what we had hoped for. We spent most of our time on the porch enjoying the view of Acadia and watching the seals, loons, osprey, bald eagles, and porcupine. The porch was an added bonus over other similar properties since it was raised and screened in - safe for toddler and dog to enjoy being outside without worrying about ticks, getting down to the water, etc. - of course while still keeping an eye on them. We really enjoyed the beach, too. Great jumping off point to enjoy Acadia and explore Blue Hill, Brooklin, and other neighboring towns. Would definitely stay again!
We stayed for an entire week and every day we loved coming 'home' to the best view in the entire area! Our 4 yr old loved playing on the deck and going down to the ocean. We saw a porcupine climb the tree! He also caught fireflies for the first time and loved it. Nearby Bluehill is charming and Perry's lobster shack is fantastic. The house was perfectly equipped with everything we needed to make a full lobster dinner, a chocolate cake, and even popovers! Laundry was great, as we had been on the road for a week already. It was a big splurge for us, but worth every penny!! Great communication with the property manager who took care of everything for us and is super friendly and nice! Glory Be!!
The house has private access to the beach and gorgeous views from the patio. We couldn’t get enough of how beautiful it was and spent most of our time on the patio enjoying the view
We enjoyed a lovely week at this house in the Fall. We found starfish on the beach, which was a first for us! The view of the Acadia mountains were amazing. Dee, the property manager, was very helpful. The house was nicely stocked, good internet connection, nice fireplace and even had a baby gate and a sandbox for the kids. The deck was safe for us to allow our 2 year old to walk around. I highly recommend staying at this peaceful retreat!
Great location and wonderful view. We were happy with the house. Dee very kind to supply us with an air mattress. Wish the tennis court was in its prime. Lovely week. Thank you.

We had a beautiful, comfortable time on this special property! The lovely house has a great vibe, clean, well stocked and just right. The view is spectacular and the deck and path to the beach are delightful. There is so much to see and do in the area but several days we opted to just relax on the deck and admire the view of Acadia.. then the stars at night. My 8 year old son is adding that it is peaceful, beautiful and he was stoked to see bunnies in the morning and find starfish when the tide was out :)
The crown jewels of this property are the view and waterfront location. It's perfect for kayaking or just sleeping on the deck with a cool ocean breeze. The property is very relaxing and perfect for a retreat into nature. The house itself is functional and convenient with all the basic amenities. A few fans would be good at the height of summer but the ocean breeze works if you are in the front of the house.
The beach is a pebble beach with the typical Maine tidal ecosystem; i.e. kelp/barnacles around the shore. This means swimming shoes are a must and kayaking is safer than attempting to swim. We wished there was pier going out to the sea because getting into the water can be challenging except around high tide.
A very idyllic location and a convenient 45minutes from Arcadia National Park.
The view of Acadia is stunning and the property provides great solitude! Really enjoyed our week!

Terrific cottage for a family
We spent 10 days at Glory Be. The house was clean when we arrived, the kitchen is great with everything you need including spices, the covered porch was excellent for relaxing and dining, the location was beautiful with views of MDI, it was very quiet and the breezes for Union bay were refreshing. We enjoyed our time and our dog was really happy. If you come in summer bring an extra fan, the house has 2, but when it gets above 90 degrees F the house is slow to cool down. Also we enjoyed Perry's Lobster Shack down the neck and MDI but be prepared for a 40 to 50 minute drive to get to Acadia. Overall I would definitely rent this house again.

Great Family Time
Laura and Cris have a beautiful family cottage that really is very private. Our family (2 teenage boys included) enjoyed the beauty of Maine. This was a great location for many things to do in Maine and we enjoyed getting to see all the small harbor towns nearby. The beach was amazing with so many interesting finds, much different than the sandy beaches of VA and NC! The boys didn't mind the lack of TV after the first day! A truly wonderful family vacation complete with Moose tours, Acadia hikes, and Bar Harbor, as well as Blue Hill! Thanks for letting us partake in your family home!

This land has been in the family since the 1940s when our grandparents bought the property so the family could gather together and escape the heat of summer. We hope you enjoy this location as much as we do.
Why they chose this property
Privacy. Large acreage. Private beach and boardwalk to shore. The perfect antidote for beating the heat in the summer. Always a cool breeze.
What makes this property unique
Peaceful oceanside setting overlooking the mountains of Acadia National Park. 8 miles down a 9 mile peninsula. Away from it all.... No crowds. Quiet. Pristine.
