About this property

Waterfront 4BR, AC, Private Beach, Private Deep Water Dock, Kayaks, Fire Pit

This well-maintained Cape house, situated along the banks of the beautiful Herring River with easy access to Nantucket Sound, is ideal for those seeking a quintessential Cape Cod vacation. In 2020 we added air conditioning.
The unique private waterfront property, comprised of two lots, has been owned by one Massachusetts family since 1955. It is particularly suited for those who love the outdoors. Enjoy fishing, boating and kayaking from the private beach and dock. Enjoy the 2 kayaks provided or bring your own boat up to 28' and tie up at the dock. Swim in the warm, clean river water. And don't forget your fishing rods and hand nets if you like blue crabs! South of the Lower County Road Bridge, sailors and boaters can have safe harbor and quick access to Nantucket Sound.
The classic Cape sleeps eight, with one bedroom on the first floor and three on the second floor. Its interior features a central living room that opens to a cheerful sun room offering wonderful water views. The fully equipped kitchen looks into a formal dining room.
Outside, it has an expansive yard for playing and picnicking and an outdoor shower. There is ample parking for house residents and their guests—and even space for your boat trailer, if you have one. There is an outdoor fireplace to cook on or sit around in the evening. We also have a gas grill if that is your preference for cooking.
The property is in close proximity to Belmont Beach (0.5 miles), Pleasant Road Beach (0.7 miles) and bike trails, in addition to Harwich Port shopping and dining and Dennisport shopping and kids’ activities like mini-golf, bumper boats, batting cage and go-carts.
The VRBO cancellation policy options are limited. Therefore, we have written our cancellation policy under the ‘house rules’ category. Please review or contact us if you have questions.

Cape Cod Get a way.

Wonderful location! Great property. The house was perfect for our stay. Loved the sun room. We used the kayaks. Sat at the waters edge for cocktails and sat by the fire one night. Convenient location. Owners were very accommodating and made me feel like they cared about our experience.

Perfect cape trip

This house was everything our group was hoping for and more. The house was perfectly clean when we arrived, and there were fans in every room. The sun room has a gorgeous view of the river. We spent most of our time on the property either down at the dock or playing frisbee in the yard. Would definitely rent again!

Quintessential Cape Cod Property

Our family had a great time while staying on this property in West Harwich despite COVID-19. The weather was typical Cape; foggy morning clearing by noon. The children were entertained with catching and releasing fiddler crabs and later blues. The walk to Beach was doable for all ages. A very good location with easy acces by foot, bike or car to anything. The property is a a bit dated,(1950s Cape) but works. We ate and played in sunroom. Used the fire pit for somores -yum The owners are easy to work with. We would rent again Thank you RI Family

West Harwich family vacation

This was our third year at this property and it just keeps getting better. Once a year, our family gathers from different parts of the country so this week is very special. The house accommodates us perfectly with enough beds and social areas. The living room can be used by the adults while the kids are playing in the sun room. And meals happen around the large dining table or outside at the picnic table. But the most loved area is the dock. Everyone gathers there - in the early morning for coffee then later for swimming and fishing. Pleasant beach is really within walking distance - our favorite beach. Beach in the morning, jumping off the dock in the afternoon. It really is what makes this property so special to us. Everything we need is there and the house is spotless when we arrive. There is enough space so people can have some privacy- we never feel that we are on top of each other. We look forward to next year!

Peaceful and relaxing home on the water

My family spent a relaxing week in West Harwich. The house was lovely, and the small private beach was incredible. Our daughter chased crabs and played in the sand for hours. We are hoping to come back next year.

Great week with the family. Many wonderful memories created

If you’re looking for a waterfront house with old Cape Cod charm this is it. We spent hours floating in tubes tied up to the dock, fishing, crabbing & kayaking. We caught lots of scup (made great fish fry) a king fish, snapper blues & manhaden (bunker) which we used as bait in the crab traps. You should see the size of the crabs. The house even had huge pots for our lobster & crab boil which we enjoyed outside at the double length picnic table. When we were tired of playing off the dock we sat in the chairs on the bank to enjoy the shade & river breeze. Even enjoyed a night by the outdoor fire pit making s’mores. The house is roomy. Could use some upgraded sunroom furniture or covers. The kitchen is fully equipped. We enjoyed breakfasts at the large dining room table. Played cards and games in the sunroom. Great breeze through all the windows. The bed on the main floor was super comfy. Love having an outside shower & with great water pressure. Location is great. You can walk to the beach & jetty. Even take a long walk to shops & ice cream. We had a wonderful time and would recommend this house to others.

Relaxing; well-appointed; wonderful location

My family has stayed at this property for at least one week per summer for three years in a row. We love the location on the Herring River because we can fish off the dock or take a quick swim without leaving the property. Our young children love playing on the small beach, finding shells, etc. The proximity to beaches and ponds, plus Harwich's understated amenities (restaurants, shops, library, town field, rail trail) have all made it an ideal vacation spot for our quiet-natured family. And the house itself is very comfortable and well-appointed. Truly, it feels like a home away from home. We cook and grill most days, make s'mores on the firepit, and lounge in the sunroom playing cards during our time indoors.
