Nice place in a nice town!

We came for a college graduation and this place was clean and comfortable. It was centrally located to all points of interest. It’s close enough to walk to Downtown on Main St for all the shopping and dining. College is a short drive away.

Great Get Away

This place is minutes from where my son and family live - close to downtown and Kendrick Park and not far from Walmart and the Airport. I loved the kitchen, bathrooms and back deck. The house had everything I needed. Was a good place to stay - instead of hotel.

Great home base

Liz’s place was a great location and close enough to walk just about anywhere. It was clean and well cared for. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because the floors were very creaky, and hard not to disturb one another at night when walking to the kitchen/bathroom. Overall, I recommend if you are looking for a home base without the bells and whistles of some of the spots on Main.

Rustic feel with tons of charm. A great way to experience Sheridan, WY.

My family had a wonderful stay at the property. We were all there to ride the MS 150 and were able to enjoy the comforts this property offered when we weren't on bicycles peddaling through Sheridan and surrounding communities. I would recommend this property to travelers as it feels like it is a piece of history and has a lot of personality.

Comfortable and clean

The house was very clean, well-appointed, and quite cozy. It was easy to find and centrally located. The host was very nice and easy-going, communicated clearly, made sure we checked in and had everything we needed, but otherwise left us to our privacy. Liz is a wonderful host! We hope to stay there again next time we’re in Sheridan.

Comfy home in a quiet neighborhood

We had a nice time hanging out, entertaining once for dinner and generally enjoying Sheridan. The house is in a nice little neighborhood, very close (walkable) to downtown. It was very hot on our weekend so we appreciated that there was A/C! Nice kitchen, two baths, all perfect!

Amazing how well stocked this place was with most everything needed for cooking including spices.

Don't worry yourself about forgetting anything ass it is most likely there. Nice to have laundry facilities on site, also. The bathroom locations are a little inconvenient, but certainly doable, and nice to have the 2 bathrooms when there are 2 couples staying there. Place is dated and rustic, but we rather enjoyed that. Like stepping back in time. Beds were good. Air conditioner will freeze you out if you want. Overall, nice place to stay.

Finally, a house with character

From beginning to end, this was a great stay for a weary traveler seeking a chance to rest. The home has a wonderful history and was filled with art, books, and everything I needed for a pleasant and comfortable stay. The neighborhood was quiet and within walking distance to downtown and the grocery. Liz was welcoming and very responsive.

What a lovely, cozy home away from home!

This is a charming, cozy, well out-fitted cottage that is walking distance from stores and restaurants in downtown Sheridan. There is a deep tub for soaking and washer and dryer right off the kitchen. It was quiet, clean and filled with beautiful watercolor paintings and colorful, cozy furniture. I recommend it highly and would stay there again. Many thanks to our hostess!

Lovely home

Older property. Modern bathrooms. Very quiet. Very comfortable furniture but like a museum. Fluffy towels. Comfy beds. Fresh flowers on tables and bathrooms. Great , convenient location. Quiet neighborhood. Quiet inside house. Could not hear from room to room. Relaxing tv room. We really enjoyed the back deck and garden early morning and evening! Many things to do in area. Owner kept us informed with information.

Perfect place

We spent a week here, and it was the perfect place for us! It felt like staying in a home rather than a hotel, and it had all kinds of useful fittings: a fully equipped kitchen, a washer and clothesline (there was a dryer, but we don't use dryers), interesting books, art on the walls. The house stayed cool throughout the day, even when the temperature was in the upper 90s, without any use of the AC. The location is terrific; it was so quick and easy to run errands and visit the many lovely parks in and around town. The owner, Liz, was available by e-mail and phone to address the questions we had before we arrived, and we enjoyed a nice chat with her in the back yard while there. We will definitely stay here if we visit Sheridan again!

Outstanding to BR, one .5 bath in the heart of Sheridan.

Outstanding to BR, one .5 bath in the heart of Sheridan. My one rule in renting a VRBO: Always attempt to stay in a home owned by a woman. They just do it better. Liz’s house was great with good towels, kitchen well stocked with appliances, great bathrooms with plenty of soap and shampoo, perfect location, much more, etc. She lives adjacent to the house but I never heard or saw her. Lots of nice paintings on the wall.

Sheridan Trip 2020

I really liked liz’s home. The only way critique I have is that it was not advertised that she lived in the adjoining house, which was connected by two French doors in the main living room. We could hear everything and we’re afraid we were being loud, which isn’t something to worry about when you’re paying to stay somewhere. That is a very small critique. Otherwise, Liz and her home were lovely and we’d totally stay here again!

About the host

Host profile image
I'm retired as Exec Director and founder of the Wyoming Wilderness Association. I grew up in Denver, CO. I am now a practicing painter, birder, volunteer, hiker and traveler as well as your host! My M.F.A. degree is from the University of Washington with steel sculptures hidden in the gardens.

Why they chose this property

I wanted to provide a homey and arty experience for travelers while visiting Sheridan. This updated 1910 house has a wonderful history and lots of privacy in a quiet neighborhood with lovely big yard and jungle-like gardens. A private outside deck and B-B Q out the back door. The bathrooms are updated with slate tiles imbedded with fossils and cool rocks.
I live in the other half, closed off by curtains and insulated doors. Full kitchen is well-equipped. WiFi TV and A/C unit installed in 2017.

What makes this property unique

I love Wyoming for its wildness. The Bighorn Mountains are only an hour away for fishing, hiking and camping. Sheridan is a super friendly town, small yet highly cultured. The WYO Theater brings wonderful events, music, theater and dance. There are 24 miles of hiking/walking paths and parks in Sheridan to enjoy. The Howell Hotel is located just 5 blocks from downtown restaurants, bars and shopping, and the very special SAGE Community Art Gallery. In the summer, Sheridan boasts a summer Farmers market every Thursday and the Third Thursday of every summer month is a great street festival with music, food and booths.
