We loved our family vacation

This is a wonderful property. We do a family trip every year. We loved the fact that there was no Wi-Fi or cell service. We were able to hang out, play games, do puzzles and take walks. I recommend staying at this house.

Winter retreat hideaway

We enjoyed our time at this wonderful property. It is truly a getaway location. We are 3 families from the Bay Area with high school/college kids and there was something for everyone at the house. Kitchen was great to make yummy group dinners. Pool table was a hit with an ongoing tournament. Property was fun for hiking/exploring. And the living room and fire was ideal for relaxing conversation. Having no cell reception/wi fi allowed everyone to be fully present. We would definitely consider staying again in the future.

Birthday Getaway

I loved the house and the scenery! Beds were ok, similar to staying in a hotel. Bring blankets and pillows! House had creature comforts that most VRBOS don't. (Spices, coffee) Dishes in the dishwasher were dirty and needed to be reran, some spatulas were sticky, fireplaces had to be cleaned before using and trash cans were full. We took all garbage home with us. Overall, we had fun and the home was beautiful,

Such a wonderful, peaceful time!

We absolutely loved our stay at this secluded house on a private lake. We spent all day at the lake each day using the boats and swimming (bring floats). The fire pit area is also great and the house is gigantic. Way more space than we needed for our small family of five and we hope to go back with friends some time - could easily fit 3 families! Denise was accessible when we had questions which helped our stay. We’d love to come back!

Secluded, huge house, great backyard, great kitchen, loved it.

The house had tons of room to accommodate our large group. Kitchen layout was great and very well stocked. Backyard area was perfect. The whole place was secluded, with beautiful trees. Unfortunately the pond was not swimmable while we were there, but CA is in a terrible drought, can't blame the owners for that. Absolutely amazing house, and Denise was great to work with. Would rent it again in a heartbeat.

Can't wait to come back!

We had an amazing time! The property was gorgeous, we never left. Definitely pack in your ice because the ice maker doesn't work. Other than that, everything was so perfect - our whole party was comfortable and the wide variety of fun things to do on site were amazing. Thanks for making it available for us!

Please stay true to your word!

Peace, quiet, a great view, undisturbed calm. Many words to describe the beauty and solitude of this place. There is a small pond, pool table/ping pong table, horseshoes, paddle boards, bring your own chairs to sit and enjoy the nature. However, there is only one paddle for the two boards, no oar for the row boat, no rake for the horseshoe pit, one (very dirty) pot holder, only 10 forks, one kitchen towel, and the floors and hand railings were rather dirty when we came in. There are many coffee mugs and champagne flutes, only 4 wine glasses, and a few other glasses. Bring supplies, and enjoy!

Awesome Vacation Home!

Rented this home for a family vacation with cousins. It was perfect for us. 7 bedrooms (two bedrooms were only divided by a curtain, a little strange) and 3 1/2 bathrooms. The master was the only room with a private bathroom and access to a balcony. The lake/pond was great. The kids enjoyed it (it was cold). The overall property was a delight. We just loved it. It was a bummer we couldn’t have a fire in the pits due to no burn notice because they were great fire pits/rings. Overall we loved it. Probably my only real complaint would be that they need better pots & pans. There were plenty but all scratched up and peeling. But I did discover two electric skillets that were really nice. And there is no WiFi but we didn’t mind. If you absolutely needed to check something you can drive a little into town to get connection. Just make sure if there is anyone that might need to get in touch with you that they have the landline number.

Property was accurate to description, however encountered issues during stay

Property offered great amenities (game room, fire pit, lots of acreage for the dogs to explore), however, running water was not operational. From the time we got there at 2pm until the following day at 12pm we did not have water to use the toilets, handwash, cook dinner, or take showers. Thankfully property manager was very responsive to our situation and did her best to solve the situation (especially during a holiday day), however, it did impact our Thanksgiving dinner. Another downside, some of the appliances were a bit hard to use (oven was not displaying the screen properly) and we noted that the general state and cleanliness wasn't stellar. We noticed that a lot of the utensils in the kitchen were sticky and unclean and there was some grime in some of the common areas. Having no wifi was kind of a bummer too. If the property was spruced up a bit, it would make a great rental.

Magic Happened

I was nervous booking this property. I knew trying to get 14 of my immediate family members together for my birthday would be a Herculean task. That, combined with the fact that many of my family members were used to enjoying more of a Disneyland kind of magic, rather than a remote forest location, made me nervous. I could feel the doubt. "Where the heck are we going?" "Are we going to get murdered there?" "Is it safe?" On the drive up, my wife, daughter, and I, said a little prayer in the car. We just prayed that healing and togetherness would happen at Georgetown. Then, magic happened. At this special, 9-acre property, with no wi-fi and no cell signal, my family bonded. Truly bonded. Songs were sang around campfires. Tears were shed talking about life challenges. Water fights were had at the private lake. A ping pong tournament was held with cheering and fanfare. And of course, we had late night poker games. It was truly magical. I'm a business owner, and was honestly worried about not being able to check my email or be inaccessible to my company. You know what? They survived, and did just fine. And all my neices and nephews focused on each other rather than on their screens. We all commented that we felt like we were in another world. We were. If this is the kind of retreat you want, this Georgetown property is your ticket. There were a few small issues, but honestly, they aren't even worth mentioning. And Denise was very good about communication. If you're more curious about those issues, maybe this place isn't for you. This place is for those looking for magic. We'll be back.

Not bad overall

The property was nice and quiet with plenty of wildlife around. Great for relaxing. There were things that were not clean such as the ice maker which had things swimming in the water that was left in it. The BBQ was filthy and utensils were left inside the BBQ. There were no instructions on using the TVs or the entertainment center. No listing of local restaurants or businesses. No trash pickup on Wednesday as advertised so we had a lot of trash that had to be left in the game room. Have not heard from the listers yet and will add to this review when the deposit is returned. Make sure you take plenty of "as found" pictures, damage all over the house.

5 Star property 2.5 Star cleanliness

We overall enjoyed our time together as friends. The property is beautiful. 2.5 stars for the level of cleanliness especially since the cleaning fee is over $400 and you are asked to wash the dishes and strip the beds and start load of laundry for bed sheets which is fine but again large cleaning fee....I definitely felt like we left the home cleaner than we found it. The home WAS NOT filthy but it needs a deep clean and or replacing some things like carpet and cushion seats and a few other things that could add more value to the comfort and attractiveness of the home.

Great setting & secluded- Yet close to lots of amenities

Stayed here for almost a week with family. Was a great time the fact that there are 6-7 true bedrooms is great. Lots of bathrooms made it convenient for folks and there being ability for single level living for some guests who have issues with stairs was great. No cell reception if your AT&T so it’s a good and bad thing but nothing against property just be prepared. Wish there was a way to buy firewood from the owners instead of having to truck it in. Great place and look forward to staying again in future and can’t wait to see the upgrades they are working on in the interior.

Great property

My family filled up the house from infants to grandmas. Aside from dead batteries in the rv remotes and needing tp, and paper towels the house was as advertised. The pond was a little low making it tricky to hey in and out. And surrounding wildfires shutting down the national forest the state was quiet and wonderful. Something for everyone. We look forward to booking a family trip annually here

Family vacation

Lots of space and privacy. Nature at its best. House needed air conditioning and some TLC (stained carpets, hard to open back door, broken table by pond). Fabulous place for kids to explore, ride bikes, ride the paddle boat, and use the paddle board. The snakes and frogs in the pond added some excitement. Expecting guests to take trash to street (long, uphill climb) is unrealistic. I called the owner who agreed to get a local to remove trash). No WiFi was a bonus. We played and had great conversations instead of screen time. My family loved our time here and would return.

Had a lot of fun!

The surrounding of the house is beautiful! We really enjoyed our stay. Whitewater rafting, swimming in the American River and fishing in the Stumpy Meadows Lake are so fun! There is no cell phone signal in the house, but there IS wi-fi though. Noticed a small snake in the property's private lake. House needs some fix and maintenance, like water filter in the kitchen and downstair bathroom. House is very spacious and thoughtfully provided a lot of things to play with. Denise is also easy to communiate and very responsive. A very happy trip!
