THE VIEWS DO NOT GET BETTER THAN THIS! This photo was taken from the dining room table one evening. We recently have been watching the whales from the same dining room table. The panoramic views are breathtaking, whether from the home, the spa, or walking along the beach or picnicking on the bluff. Watch the ocean transform from sunrise to sunset, with the Mendocino Lost Coast framing the horizon. Enjoy a romantic or family-friendly stay in our contemporary home on 5 ocean-front acres. In the evenings enjoy the wood burning stove, or watch the stars and listen to the ocean from the comfort of the hot tub. Walk along the many beaches stretching along the Ocean, and enjoy the tidal pools, seals and vistas. The property shares the private beach shown in the photo, and has it's own private cove, accessible at low tide and known for the sea glass to be found in its sands.

The nearby seaside village of Westport makes for a pleasant walk. There is a small store in the adjoining campground with essentials, and a quaint store in the village. We are comfortably far from shopping malls and fast food, and very close to the ocean waves and the stars.

Perfect for a personal retreat

This cottage was absolutely amazing, and perfectly suited my need for a beautiful, comfortable environment in which to rest and dream. The house was clean and well kept, and I’m not sure there could be a better setting for a small VRBO on the entire California coast. The owner was responsive and caring. Wonderful!!!

Carnival Funhouse Cottage

Honestly, we like the location of this home, because we have been diehard Westport Beach campground, family members altogether over 50 years! We always wanted to stay at this little cottage, and even though it was super easy to communicate and super easy to check in.. there are some things about this property that I wish would’ve been disclosed! If you have equilibrium issues or are not stable on your feet, or use a cane this is not your property!! I don’t know how this house could pass code! It is riddled with dips and valleys and severe sloping downhill! Even though it’s a cute little property, it’s very very basic! The windows severely need to be updated and replaced with new windows some windows don’t work some windows don’t have a screen, the carpet has pet urine stains, in the extra bedroom to the left the window was full of cobwebs and bugs, and it looked like an animal had sprayed feces on the wall by the window!! The kitchen cabinets are filthy! There is not an icemaker, but they do have ice trays! They do not have a Keurig coffee pot, limited places for storage. We use the bench by the window in the kitchen to put our chips and potatoes and stuff on! Also, the shower head could be difficult to use or learn, the road to the campground is very busy, which we are aware of a lot of people don’t know that.. the positives were the location, lots of wood and Kinlin were stocked up for us, the hot tub was clean

Cottage by the Sea

A wonderful 3 day getaway. Sunsets from the deck were glorious. Love off season, we had the beach to ourselves. The best view from any kitchen sink I've seen.. We slept like logs on the comfy bed. Loved the security of the fenced yard for our pups.

Heaven on the NorCal Coast

We have stayed at Dan's cottage many times and this stay was as perfect as always. The new mattress in the bedroom was especially nice! We are looking forward to our next stay!

A Cozy Cliffside Retreat with Breathtaking Ocean Views

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this charming cabin! The cozy fireplace was perfect for relaxing evenings, and the spacious hot tub offered stunning ocean views. The kitchen was well-equipped with all the cookware we needed, and the large dining room windows facing the cliffside and beach provided breathtaking scenery throughout our stay. Dan was a very helpful and accommodating host, though I recommend sending check-in details through the VRBO app in the future for ease of communication. I highly recommend this gem for a serene and picturesque getaway!

Perfect Getaway

A friend and I wanted to relax. This little home was perfect. The walk to the beach (if getting sand in your toes is what you’re after) is relatively short. Nobody was around, though maybe it’s just that time of year. The view of the ocean is completely unobstructed, and the sunsets were beautiful. The house had everything we needed. The kitchen is stocked with all of the normal things you’d expect to see in a kitchen. The beds are comfortable. And it was very quiet. The one thing I did not prepare for, though, is the closest fully-stocked grocery store is about 20 minutes away. There is a tiny store in the campground below (you can get bottled water and some first aid items), and there is a community store about a mile away. It has some basic groceries, canned goods, beer/wine. Anyway, not an issue if you plan ahead. Dan is super responsive. I highly recommend this little gem on the bluff.

LOVED IT!!

The views were spectacular, the cove and beach are quiet, private and peaceful. Had our 60th Anniversary lunch on the picnic table at the overlook. Couldn't have been better anywhere else.....caught beautiful, perfect weather at an amazing spot to celebrate. Besides all that, the cottage is the most well equipped of anywhere we've stayed and absolutely charming.

Wonderful, relaxing stay!

This was my second stay at The Cottage at Sweet Cove. As he did before, Dan sent me all the pertinent information I would need for my arrival which may checking in very easy! Just a few days before my arrival, I found that I would be able to stay an extra day. Dan was able to accommodate me as I was VERY fortunate the cottage would be available! The weather was incredible! Sunny everyday with warm temperatures and little to no wind. Nothing like the typical weather I've experienced on the North Coast. Spent lots of time at the beach below and a few other beaches nearby. The cottage was very comfortable with everything we needed. We cooked most of our meals there and enjoyed the spectacular view from the of the warmer weather, we only used the wood stove once. It was already prepared so all we had to do was light a match and it made a beautiful fire. And I've never seen such a clean wood stove! The bed was very comfortable. We saw lots of wildlife; deer, egrets, quail, turkey vultures, meadowlarks and lots of shorebirds and a great horned owl!. It was such a wonderful stay! We will be back again.

Amazing 2nd Visit to Sweet Cove

We just finished our 2nd stay at Sweet Cove and it was as equally amazing as the 1st visit last February. The house is well appointed, clean and as pictured. The view is sublime. What is hard to see in the pictures are all the different 'spots' to hang out whether it's inside the house, the hot tub, the yard, beach or bluff. We will be back again!!!

Fantastic anniversary

We had a great time. Very relaxing. The view is amazing. We enjoyed cooking and seeing the beach. We loved the fog rolling in. The cottage is quiet and so comfortable. We will definitely make a return trip. The beach is gorgeous. Just an amazing time!

Beautiful View

This property is exactly as shown in the pictures. The views are amazing. It is much closer to Ft Bragg than we anticipated - easy access to groceries/pharmacies. If you are looking for a place to sit and relax with a spectacular view - perfect. If you want space and nature with day trips - great. (We enjoyed Glass Beach and the Sea Glass Museum and spent a day driving up to the Avenue of the Giants and checking out the many beach stops along Coast Hwy.) The house is very well equipped and comfortable inside and out. The fireplace inside and the picnic table and spa outside were icing on the cake. Don't let the presence of the campground deter you. We were surprised at how little impact it had on our stay. The sound of the waves is all we heard. The host has given more thought than most VRBO owners at providing a homey environment and was very accessible without being intrusive. We highly recommend!

Absolutely beautiful location!

We stayed here for 5 nights with our family, including our 13-year-old and 10-year-old boys and our dog. The property is in an absolutely perfect location with amazing views. Easy walk to the beach for our family (although if you had really little ones or older ones in your group, you’d probably want to drive down- easy too!) and sitting in the hot tub at sunset can’t be beat! I loved that the host included a tide book so we knew when low and high tides were, along with sunrise and sunset. Both kids said they would definitely come back 🙂

Home away from home

Our family loves this property! The host Dan is very nice and responsive. The house is very clean and has the most amazing views. My husbands favorite thing is the hot tub. My favorite thing is the private picnic bench that overlooks the cliffs. I drank my coffee there every morning. Great beach access also! We will continue to have our annual family vacation there for years to come! I wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else.

Amazing location

Our stay here was wonderful. The location is spectacularly beautiful. I enjoyed walking the bluff every day! The house was small but fucntional and we loved being able to go into Fort Bragg for food and fun. Looking forward to staying again in the future during whale season! Lookong forasrd to staying

Ocean front property with a yard

Enjoyed the house and the back deck for watching the sunset. Walked out the the edge of the bluff in the morning with my coffee. Great quiet spot above a pretty busy campground and beach.

Beat the Heatwave!

We had a wonderful time! Dan was great! All instructions were fully detailed and easy to follow. The view is amazing and the beach is incredible. I’ve never been to a Northern California beach that didn’t have tons of seaweed and flies and smelled like fish. The beach below the bluffs was beautiful! Highly recommend staying here.

It takes my breath away every time I look out at the Pacific Ocean surf rolling into the miles of California coast visible from the cottage windows. I would love to share this with you.

What makes this property unique

Peaceful setting, with incredible views of the interplay of ocean and light from dawn to sunset. Walk for miles at low tide through the pristine Nothern beaches past acres of tidepools. When the surf is up, watch from the bluff top, hot tub or dining room table as the ocean sings its song.
This is a NON SMOKING house.
