About this property

Cool cozy little cabin, with a great view!

Welcome to the Ozarks! The 'Pine Knot' cabin is located between Kyles Landing and Steel Creek- the Buffalo River access points. It overlooks the western bluff of the most popular rock climbing destinations and full service guest ranch in the Midwest- Horseshoe Canyon Ranch. Its proximity to the Ranch and the Buffalo National River make this the perfect place to hike, climb, float, and enjoy all the beauty of Newton County, AR. Jasper and Ponca have Buffalo River concessionaires that rent rafts, canoes and Kayaks. This cabin has all the comforts of home. It sleeps 4 with a queen bed and two twins in the loft. Our cabin is fully furnished with linens, towels, and bedding. A washer and dryer has been added for your convenience. The kitchen has everything you need: refrigerator with ice maker, range and stove, dishwasher, microwave, blender, and coffee pot. The kitchen is equipped- just bring your groceries and an adventuresome attitude. There is a propane grill off the back deck with a great view while grilling. Pine Knot features a dining room table that seats four. For your convenience this cabin also offers Roku, local phone service, and WIFI. Check out the Zip line and adventure packages at Horseshoe or enjoy some other great Newton county excursion and then come back to your cabin, snuggle in, soak in the view and sort out the day.
Jasper is the County seat with a few good places to eat, fuel, and a small supermarket. The Pine Knot cabin is close to the Buffalo National River, the first designated national waterway and thousands of acres of National Forest land. Hiking, canoeing, kayaking, photography, wild-life viewing and leisure activities abound. The Elk center at Ponca and the wildlife museum in Jasper are great rest day activities and something else to see when your legs need a break. Historical sites that tell the story of early settlers to the region are within quick driving range.
Whether you are hiking Indian creek, floating the Buffalo, exploring the beauty of the Ozarks or Rock Climbing and Zip lining at Horseshoe Canyon Ranch, Pine Knot provides clean and comfortable housing for your stay and is centrally located to all the activities Newton County has to offer.

Great little place near everything near the buffalo including hiking, climbing, biking and canoing.

We love staying at this place because it is at the entrance to HCR where we love to climb at. Only thing that could be better is the WiFi, but sometimes it’s nice to be totally disconnected.

Always a good spot near HCR

Enjoyed our stay, near HCR but unfortunately not affiliated with it so reservation doesn’t get you free access for climbing, hot tub, etc.

Cold shower

Our overall stay was good, but water in the shower was cold. The hot water wasn't even warm.

Our stay

The upstairs definitely could have used a TV and it would have been nice to have a little table on the balcony but we really enjoyed it it was nice and peaceful a little nuisance with the Asian beetles but it was a very nice stay overall

Beetles and bathroom smell

Lots of Beetles were inside the house and some of them came home with us and also there was an extremely strong smell from the bathroom. Other than that everything were good.

Weekend Getaway

Everything was great! Only thing is, it smelled pretty bad when we first got there (assuming this is the plumbing). But went away throughout the weekend.

Fall stay at Pine Knot

Wonderful home base for a wedding we attended at Horseshoe Canyon Ranch. Very clean, identical to pictures presented. Wonderful deck out back. Host responded to a question within 24 hours. You do have to drive a short distance down a dirt road to get there.

Great little cabin with a view!

Nice, clean, beautiful cabin...very private and secluded location with a great view from the deck. Perfect for our rock climbing adventures at Horseshoe Canyon Ranch 5 minutes down the road. Looking forward to our next stay here! The online reservation process was easy and our hosts were very responsive to our inquiries.

Great Value and Well-Located

First, communicating with Jamie was great. He always responded promptly. The cabin is well located between Ponca and Jasper right in the midst of all kinds of Buffalo River activities. It is well-equipped with accurate descriptions of furnishings, etc. Very comfortable although the up stairs sleeping room got a little warm for me at night. I opted to sleep on the couch downstairs and have to say it was the most comfortable couch I have ever slept on! In fact, I think I caught up on sleep even though I was out all night photographing the stars. I didn't think I could shoot the Milky Way at the cabin, but at the end of June it was in the right location to do so! It was pretty awesome to just step out the door to see and photograph the Milky Way. It was a great stay and the next time I return to the dark skies of the Buffalo National River to photograph the night sky, the Pine Knot Cabin will be first on my list to check out!

Perfect Tech and work get away

Pine Knot is a perfect place to break away from the business of life and slow down. It’s a great space that suited us very well. There is no cell service, but Wi-Fi was provided, for those that need it. Our group did have to tap into that for a little bit for work - there are kind of three separate spaces that worked for privacy for us - back deck, front deck, and inside. We will definitely be looking at coming back! The proximity to our desired outdoor adventures couldn’t be beat! The upper room stayed a pretty decent temp during the hotter days; the back porch perfect in the evenings to watch the fireflies, bats, and other wildlife; and the kitchen was stocked well enough to meet our needs and avoid going out. The road into the cabin is well taken care of as well, though the turn around might be a bit steep without AWD. Can’t recommend this place enough!!

Beautiful Place with everything we needed for our adventures

We really loved our stay at Pine Knot Cabin! It had all the amenities we needed as a home base for a fun Buffalo River getaway! We loved the porch and spent lots of time on it in the mornings and evenings listening to the the frogs and enjoying the sunset. The cabin was isolated but easy to get too. Our Camry had no trouble on the dirt road, though I can see how it might get to be a problem if it was any more rainy. It was a little muddy and one of our cars did spin tires a little in the mud. I love how the cabin feels rustic with the beautiful knotty pine, but has everything modern you need with kitchen appliances and Wi-Fi and Roku (teenagers watched movies in the evening). The beds were really comfy, and though the sleeping loft is warmer than downstairs, we were still comfortable and I appreciated the fan upstairs. The washer/dryer were great, as we came back each day with muddy clothes from hiking and swimming. The owner was so gracious! When I let them know that we may have to reschedule because our home in Rogers had been hit with the major tornados and we were dealing with that, they gave us the option of choosing a different date, even though it was after the refund time. We ended up keeping our original dates, and it was a welcome getaway from all the tornado disaster clean-up. We would love to come back again to Pine Knot Cabin! 2 little Notes: There wasn't enough toilet paper provided for our 3 days, and ice maker doesn't work (there are ice trays though).

Anniversary

The location was beautiful. We loved the whole time thoroughly to the fullest extent. Beautiful cabin that is well taken care of. For future guests, it may delight them if you were to have a can of coffee there with the coffee maker. The upstairs was quite warm too, so a window unit may help cool it off without freezing the downstairs. But other than that, we loved the time there very much.
