About this property

Luxury Sonoma Cottage: Sanctuary with Pool! Close to Square & Wineries

Nestled down a little country dirt lane, our cottage named after William Wordsworth's own Dove Cottage, is a calming sanctuary in the middle of the Wine Country, close to Sonoma Plaza. It is a completely private residence with it's own solar-heated pool, large private deck for entertaining, dining, and relaxing. It has a lush, wrap-around garden, and a modern, clean, minimal interior space. It is perfectly located close to Sonoma Square for the best in fine dining and access to some of the best wineries in the world.

Our cottage is perfect for a couple's romantic weekend away, or a fun weekend for a small family with kids enjoying the pool (with automatic cover- so very safe) and Traintown just around the corner. *We do not typically heat the pool November- February due to the cold temperatures, it is almost impossible to get the pool warm enough to enjoy.

Besides being a beautiful little getaway, we have also put thought into the details: Dove Cottage has air-conditioning/heating and features a beautiful custom luxury kitchen. It has two Sony HD TV's with complimentary Netflix and Cable, Full Lightening speed Wi-fi, and unique European design details such as a sliding custom barn-door and two Dutch-style doors. And the back master suite has french doors that lead out to your private deck to enjoy the evening sunsets or the fresh morning air.

Our cottage is close enough to the Square for easy access and proximity yet has a wonderful rural setting that allows you to simultaneously feel away from it all. We have tried to create a space that we love to be in as a family, or as a romantic getaway, and we have put a lot of thought into the design and flow, and we hope that you will love it, and that it will make your time in this beautiful part of the world even more enjoyable and memorable.

Great little bungelow!

Wonderful stay at Dove Cottage

Dove Cottage was an amazing home for our family stay in Sonoma! The house is close to the Sonoma square, restaurants, grocery stores, and wineries. We loved jumping in the pool to cool off in the hot afternoons. The home was clean and everything was as described.

Secluded in Sonoma

The property is beautiful, secluded and quiet. Only major downside is the access from the main road. The 150m side street into the property is in horrible shape with crazy, huge potholes. It was very difficult to drive in with our rental without grounding out some part of the car. If you have an suv or truck it is not likely an issue.

Perfect Mom Weekend Getaway

We went for a moms relaxing weekend getaway. 3 moms that needed a small break from the start of the kids’ school year. The cottage was very clean, relaxing and had all the amenities that we needed for the weekend. It’s about a 3-5 minute drive from Safeway and Whole Foods. The host, Sarah, is very responsive and has great recommendations for things to do in the area. We hope to be back again next year!

Fantastic

Really well done. The property was exactly as advertised. We stayed here twice we loved it so much. The pool was great, and the cover gave us some added comfort with the cover since we have a 4 year old. We swam every day. Lots of options nearby for dining and grocery stores. Can’t wait to stay again!

Charming cottage with everything you could ask for!

Dove Cottage is a beautiful, well-kept, beautifully decorated and fully outfitted vacation home in the heart of Sonoma. The house was so charming - every detail thoughtfully considered to ensure a perfect, comfortable and stress-free stay. Sarah is a super responsive, warm and welcoming host. We felt fully cared for. The location is great! Walking distance to Train Town (if you have kids) and Sonoma Plaza with delicious restaurants and great shops. We VRBO a lot and this was definitely in our top best experiences. We hope to come back soon!

Perfect, cozy and comfortable spot in Sonoma

My wife and I had a fantastic time. The cottage is well decorated. The bed was comfortable. We loved sipping coffee and reading on the back deck in the morning. The surroundings were pretty and quiet. Most important to us, though, was how accommodating and responsive Sarah was. Our visit was in question due to the wildfires, and Sarah offered to work with us in a number of ways in case we couldn't make it out. She was also very responsive whenever we had any questions. We would definitely consider staying again if it's available!

Very cute home!

Overall we loved our stay at this adorable home. He pool was fantastic, clean and warm. Located close to town. One recommendation would be to get the hot water faucet in the bathroom sink repaired, as it comes out slowly and the handle seems broken. We did experience a plumbing issue while staying at the home but found the owner was very responsive and had the plumber was there quickly to fix the issue, so we did not have an interruption as we were out and about for the day. Overall a fun vacation and we would come back again.

Great little house for a couple

The house is adorable and decorated really cute. Once the rain stopped and the sun came out we were able the use the pool which was clean and relaxing (albeit small). Sheep bleating and roosters crowing in the background along with a friendly little cat on the property makes you feel like you're in the country. We loved the French press coffee and access to Netflix. My only complaints are that the water pressure in the shower was almost unusable (needed to take a bath to actually bathe) and there was no mattress pad on the master bed (which creeped me out a bit ). Overall, we really enjoyed our stay!

Many great things about this property however owner should address some maintenance issues. Floor at entrance Hire a plumber and get bathroom fixtures working properly . Bathroom door should close properly. Come on Man. For what you charge Get maintenance issues addressed

Cute but a little strange

We stayed in this little cottage this past weekend. It is sufficient for 4 people. The house is cute but definitely has a strange appointment of detail. The bathroom is definitely a one person room. There is only one small mirror on the back wall (none over the sink), so it isn't easy if you are all trying to get ready and put make up on, do hair etc. As well, there is no place to hang towels, except the one hook for a hand towel. The home wasn't totally clean when we arrived: dirty fridge and smegma on the kitchen counter, as well as dirty hand towels in kitchen and bath and the number of options for replacing those was very slim. The coffee maker was full of old moldy grounds and had old coffee in the reservoir. The kitchen is not well appointed so preparing and serving food is a challenge. As well, you can see the small fridge in the picture. There is no ice available for this house. (When we got there, the freezer was completely frosted over.) You will need a cooler and bags of ice from the store (major hassle). All the pillows and comforters are feather/down, so plan ahead if you are allergic like me. Every drawer in the rooms is filled with stuff so plan to live out of your suitcase. There was a closet in the second bedroom, the one behind the rolling barn door. Unfortunately, they store all of their laundry supplies in the only spot to hang things, and don't provide any hangers anyway. Most of the towels are old and mildewed, although they did provide a newer set of 4 bath towels and one hand towel for bathing. There is air conditioning that worked really well after we took out the completely clogged air filter in the return. HOWEVER, the yards are just perfect. Relaxing pool and picnic table on deck. The trees and setting are just lovely. It is not walking distance to the square, unless you are up for a good hike. But it is in a fairly convenient location. The bedrooms are nice size and the master has French doors that open to the beautiful backyard and pool. For the money though, I probably wouldn't book this again unless the owners step up the facility.

What makes this property unique

We are a very child friendly rental home, we are blocks from Sonoma square that has playgrounds and ducks, and only a block from Train Town which is a gorgeous little theme park for kids. We also have a farm near the house with friendly horses, ponies, goats and llamas. And, our cottage has a pack n play, games, a highchair, a safety cover on the pool, corn hole and everything we can think of to make travelling with children fun and easy.
