About this property

Private 3-Bedroom Oceanfront Home

Tucked away down a private drive adjacent to Waimea Plantation resort, this charming private home home is in a peaceful setting of large lawns and tropical plants. The green lawn area leads to the 2-mile-long black-sand walking beach. There are 3 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, spacious living room, dining room, study area, full kitchen, large patio with dining and seating areas, and washer/dryer. The master bedroom has a king size bed, en suite master bath and ocean views. The second bedroom has a queen size bed; the third bedroom has two twin beds. All 3 bedrooms are air-conditioned. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishes, silverware, glassware, pots/pans, utensils and appliances.

Our guests have full access to all Waimea Plantation resort facilities including the oceanfront pool and on-property restaurant.

Here you'll have the opportunity to truly relax and recharge. You will love the sunsets with Niihau across the ocean channel as well as the magnificent stargazing at night.

Note on beaches: the Waimea River enters the ocean about a mile east of the property bringing silt from the canyon into the ocean. The currents pull the silt along the ocean in front of the beach. There are two swimmable beaches with lifeguard stations nearby. Kekaha Beach, is a 5-minute drive to the West. It is the longest white sand beach in Hawaii. It is wide and flat. To the east near Hanapepe Town is Salt Pond Beach. There is a lovely protected swimming area, picnic tables and restrooms.

Peace and quiet
The cottage was well appointed and had all the necessities of home. Having AC in the bedroom(s) was a blessing on the hot afternoons and evenings. Definitely recommend for families and groups. Have already recommended to friends. Thanks.

Great older home and secluded location
Spent 10 nights in this wonderful spot, secluded from some of the major attractions but hey, it’s a small island so we easily drove wherever we wanted to go. Felt like we had the beach and property to ourselves, about 2 acres and beach with minimal traffic (not a swimming beach but great for walks and building sandcastles with kids). We would go back in a heartbeat.

So much potential
Based on glowing reviews, we booked Cottage E at the edge of Waimea Plantation. Positives: • Check-in was efficient, Jasmine kind & helpful • Separate cottages well-spaced on many acres abutting a black-sand beach • Colorful shrubs & towering trees for shade and photo backdrops • Cottage E was very private & quiet • Spacious (3 lg bdrms, 2 ½ baths, dining & sitting areas, covered patio with chairs) • Comfortable beds • Proximity to walking-only beach; enjoyed watching waves and sunset from the expansive yard • Quiet area (except, the roosters, part of the island’s charm!) • Beach chairs & towels provided This home has so much potential! If only the owners did long-overdue updates to provide the value to match the nightly price. Improvements needed: • Deep clean windowsills, baseboards, stovetop, bathtub, sinks • Kitchen & bathroom updates: dishwasher, bathtub, bathroom door (holes), pots / pans, coffee maker • Regular preventative pest control plan • Sunroom glass doors leak profusely with heavy rain • Curtains and sheers don’t cover the windows fully, so outdoor lights shine in at night, no privacy While I appreciate the charm of a rustic home, in its current state we wouldn’t return. I shared my observations while there, but most improvements needed are more than quick fixes, long overdue & require an unoccupied house. My comments are intended as constructive, so the owners improve the place for future renters. The house could be spectacular & would deserve high marks.

Glorious!
This beautiful cottage is more spacious and comfortable than the photos can show. The proximity to the ocean is marvelous, and the grounds are so well kept. We marveled daily at the pleasure of being here. Waimea is a sweet little town nearby, and the Canyon entrance is very close. All in all, it’s been a wonderful stay, and we can recommend this lovely cottage enthusiastically. Mahalo!

Flexible with Great Communication
I didn't actually get to stay at the house-- My husband had a major health crisis right before our trip and we had to cancel. It was past the time that we could get a refund for the reservation, but we had friends visiting Kauai at the same time, and the host was really wonderful about letting us switch over the guests. My friends reported that "It's so spacious and the view is amazing and the Banian trees are epic!...The black sand beach in front of the cottage is so nice and we basically had it to ourselves!" Sounds like a wonderful spot, I hope we are able to experience it for ourselves some day!

Family stay
We were in cottage E. The views of the ocean were spectacular. We were 50 yards from the beach which made star gazing great. The cottage is a little outdated and only the bedrooms were air conditioned. The cottage grounds are very quiet and you feel like you're the only one there. We felt very safe and a lot of times we would leave the cottage unlocked.

We enjoyed our stay very much. It was great to take walks on the beach and fall asleep to the sound of the ocean at night. We spent a couple of days at Waimea canyon hiking, and the location was very convenient for our hikes.

This place is exceptionally wonderful and so welcoming did not disappoint, We enjoyed every bit of it. Property is very well maintained and clean. Beds were amazingly comfortable. We enjoyed the wonderful scenery of the property and ocean right out back door. The restaurant was amazing and waitresses were very nice. We would definitely stay here again. Beautiful location
The Plantation property is beautiful. We loved our house and it's location. The furnishings were very nice and the TV's were modern. The amenities were great, pool, restaurant, bar. The staff was extremely efficient and very helpful. We had an issue with the cleanliness of our unit. The windows needed cleaning and the couch hide-a-bed had a rodent nest in it which they immediately sent 4 staff members to address. We would return to this property and enjoy it some more.

Lovely uncrowded spot
Lovely old cottage across the grass from the beach. Can just glimpse the water from the lanai where cool breezes were very welcome. It’s an older cottage but everything works and the people are very friendly! Gecko/anole welcoming committee was appreciated and kept bugs down. Morning walks along the almost empty beach we’re fantastic!

Nice "Old Hawaii" style home
This is an older home on the Waimea Plantation property. This home is at the end of the road, so it is quiet. It is an older home, but still has large relaxation spaces and everything you need for some quiet downtime. There are chaise lounges outside and several chairs, and you can walk straight out under the large trees to the beach for a nice long walk. We never saw more than a couple of people on the beach, and just liked listening to the waves roll in. We are planning to come back next year when we can get away, as this is a good spot to get away from the more touristy areas of the island. You are only a couple of minutes away from the great tacos, shaved ice, and other food in Waimea. And it is a great location for visiting the Waimea Canyon and the overlooks of the Napali Coast.

Peaceful Retreat
Waimea Plantation is a beautiful location on the island of Kauai. We stayed for six weeks and enjoyed the sunshine, beach, and hiking at the canyon. The town is not touristy and enjoyed the locals. The cottages are comfy and the staff are wonderful -quick to take care of all our needs. We had a great time and plan to see you in 2024! Maholo!

Why they chose this property

This secluded, oceanfront property rests on land owned by the Kikiaola Land Company, managed by the heirs of Kauai Sugar Cane plantation pioneer Hans Peter Faye. The surrounding resort property is located on nearly 43 tropical acres and has trees dating back to the 1800s. Waimea Plantation resort is adjacent and guests are welcome to use all resort facilities.

The home offers both outdoor dining and lounging areas. The sound of the ocean waves will rock you to sleep at night. If you seek privacy and sense of peace, our home will not disappoint.

What makes this property unique

The 43 acres of Waimea Plantation resort offers extensive tropical gardens and coconut palm grove. On the property, you'll find ironwood, Cook Pine, fir, plumeria, banana and giant Banyan tree groves. Lawn areas are lined with beds of colorful and fragrant flora.

At certain times of the day, the property is filled with birdsong. Occassionally in winter, you may see a Humpback whale floating by in the ocean.

At night, due to rural aspect of Waimea, it is possible to see the Milky Way and hundreds of stars with the naked eye.
