Spectacular home and property

The patio where we had most of our meals, is like magic. So beautiful. Wisteria as your shade. Hues of green everywhere. So lovely and so pleasant. Our family had an amazing time and enjoyed the house so much. We didn’t want to leave. We’ve rented a lot of beautiful homes in the area over the years and this is by far our favorite. The house and property are beyond stunning. It feels so special and unique. It’s full of stories and you know love and family have been here. The hosts are super nice and very helpful and available. They gave us tours of their beautiful horse farm and shared toys with our kids. The ac is strong and good. Ac is in all the bedrooms except the twin bedroom in the library downstairs but with a fan it seemed fine, even during the hottest days. Comfy beds, pillows and linens. Fully stocked kitchen. The house has everything you’d need. The pool is divine and the entire property is enchanting. Love this home!

Excellent Stay, Perfect Location

This property is, in my opinion, situated in the best location in all of Provence. Nearly every possible day trip within a 45 minute drive is available. Beach, Roman ruins and antiquities, excellent dining, festivals, hiking, lavender fields and plenty of site seeing. We did it all! The property manager was extremely helpful in recommending outings, shopping and assisting with any of our other needs. We also booked a French Cooking Lesson at the property, and it was the highlight of our stay. One "heads up" for future occupants during summer months: Mosquitos/flying bugs. Be sure to obtain proper spray for afternoons and evenings in the pool. While we encountered some of these pests, it did not hinder our enjoyment of the property, as we took proper precautions. This property is definitely recommended for a large family with kids!

Great base for large group to explore (and relax) in Provence

This wonderful French country estate served as home base for our 11-person, 3-generation family visit to Provence. The site, set on a horse farm and with a beautiful allee entrance, was spectacular, as was the pool, shaded patio and master suite. The house easily accommodated our large (and demanding) group and was a delight to spend five days in. Catherine was a terrific hostess with very helpful advice on the area. Thanks for being an important part of our memorable trip to a very special area!

Beautiful property, great location.

This is a beautiful property in a wonderful location, well situated for visiting all the towns in Provence. Lovely, large stone swimming pool. The house is a bit of an acquired taste, quirkily appointed and maybe a bit cluttered. Owner knows the area well and was responsive to our needs and questions.

Lovely Vacation Home for Big Groups

My extended family and I enjoyed a week at this property in July 2018. The house is huge, fully-stocked, has one of the most tempting pools I've ever had the pleasure to jump into, and is well located in the countryside between many desirable touristic sites. Catherine was a huge help to us, making dinner reservations for us on the nights we did not cook, organizing a chef to cook for us onsite one evening, and generally explaining all the must-sees of the area. The house has everything you can think of, and even when we ran out of something (in our case, gas for the outside grill) Catherine quickly replaced it. We wanted for nothing. One note is that four of the bedrooms do not have air conditioning, which only really matters in the really warm months, and can quickly be remedied by visiting the pool. Between relaxing in the house or by the pool, and everything there is to see in this area, we could have stayed for a month. A week is definitely not long enough. We hope to come back in the future. Thank you for such a lovely experience!

Perfect Provencal Week

Our stay at Haras du Coussoul was absolutely wonderful. The photos of the property don’t come close to doing it justice. Our group did a mix of things - spending days lounging at the beautiful pool and walking around the property to visit the gorgeous horses, and hopping in the car to visit towns in the area. The house was incredibly well-stocked - tons of room and places to relax and enjoy a quiet moment. We cooked dinner nearly every night and enjoyed it on the beautiful vine-covered porch. The house and property are perfectly situated - you feel a million miles away from civilization, but in truth it’s just a ten minute drive to an adorable town and grocery store. Catherine was a wonderful hostess - she had great tips for local markets to visit and was a huge help when Air France lost our luggage! We can’t wait to plan our next trip!

Stunning Estate in Provence! Do not pass up!!

I stayed at the estate with my family (all adults). The house itself is gorgeous, but the grounds are truly breathtaking. The landscape is so well done in a traditional French style. You'll just want to walk around the property exploring. The house itself was very comfortable. The bedrooms and bathrooms were nice and clean. My favorite part of the house was the kitchen as it was great for cooking with a family of 7. Catherine, the hostess, organized a wonderful cooking class for us by a local chef. The outdoor patio and pool are also benefits of the estate. You'll basically never want to leave. Also, it is important to note that there is A/C in the two main bedrooms upstairs, but not in all bedrooms. The weather was temperate enough that it was not an issue though. As for the hostess, Catherine, she was nice and very responsive to my many questions. Can't recommend this place enough!

Unique Property in Outstanding Location

For the first 4 nights we stayed with our two kids (11 & 13), then for the last 3 were joined by 2 other couples and one more child (5). Plenty of room for the 9 of us with each couple and child having their own bedroom. The entire home is very spacious, plenty of room for everyone and the outdoor area is gorgeous with a large pool (constant depth of about 4 ½ ft) perfect for kids or adults. The location is perfect, a beautiful area of Provence and less than an hours drive to numerous picturesque villages (e.g., Gordes, Loumarin, Les Baux), towns of historical significance (Arles, Avignon), and less than an hour to a surprisingly large sandy beach (Saintes Marie de la Mer). Having previously rented villas in France and Italy, I can say without reservation this is a spectacular place to stay. The owner, Catherine, is very friendly and knowledgeable about the area, from things to do, to places to eat and markets to visit, far more helpful and available than what one would expect from the property’s host. The home and the property are absolutely beautiful, well kept and perfect for cooking in, entertaining or just hanging out. If the find the home’s pictures appealing, you are no going to be disappointed. You will love this house.

Beautiful Villa in Great Location!

I stayed with three girlfriends in this beautiful place last week. The location is fantastic, you feel miles away from everything (because of the size of the property and the great landscaping), but you are really a short drive from some of the best experiences Provence has to offer. We were able to take in lots of the beautiful hillside villages and go kayaking in the Calanques as day trips. The photos do not do the interior justice, as there are beautiful antiques throughout the villa and a very well equipped, very large, kitchen and a good size laundry room. We had a great time relaxing by the pool and having an afternoon Aperol Spritz on the shaded patio. Catherine was a terrific hostess, very welcoming and with lots of good tips for visitors. She pointed us to a market that wasn't even on our list and it turned out to be a highlight of our trip. This estate was great for a girls trip (and we could have easily fit a few more), but would also be nice for a family, or a very romantic Honeymoon, since the master suite is huge, sumptuous, overlooks the pool and has his and hers closets and bathrooms!

A fantastic villa

As you approach the villa's long private driveway you are transported back to another era. The villa is beautiful. You enter through a grand marble foyer and that is just the beginning of your exquisate surroundings. You can spend a day just walking around the amazing property and swimming in the pool. The pictures only begin to do villa justice. Its location is central to most of the major sites. The hostess, Catherine, was very helpful with her recommendations and made our family of 12 adults and an infant feel right at home. Her recomendations for the butcher, bakery and restaurant, Ou Ravi Provencau, were just what we were looking for. We could not have asked fora better, place to stay. Kathy & Bob

Perfect Provencial Getaway

We recently spent 5 nights in this idyllic country manor conveniently located a short drive to dozens of charming villages and attractions. This property comfortably slept our party of eleven (two families consisting of 4 adults and 7 kids), and could have easily accommodated more had we reserved one of the cottages next door. The moment we turned into the driveway -- a quarter mile long and lined with sycamore trees -- we knew we had chosen wisely. The estate is tucked away on a hidden dirt road with nary a neighbor in sight. It is surrounded by horse fields (it's a working, and highly-decorated equestrian farm), national parkland (with an interesting set of trails) and a diverse array of local flora and fauna. The house is enveloped in an intoxicating smell of jasmine, rosemary and lavender. The pool is gorgeous, set amid a private lawn flanked by and century old olive trees. Given the beauty of the exterior of the home, it's impressive that the interior of the home far from disappoints. It has beautiful "bones" with stone floors, moldings, high ceilings, elegant living spaces and a modern kitchen. The two master bedrooms are very nice (of the two, the main master is more desirable). The remaining bedrooms are well decorated, but unlike the master bedrooms, lack air conditioning (that said, fans are readily available in all rooms). Our host, Catherine, couldn't have been nicer. She gave is some great suggestions and greeted us with a cold bottle of rose upon arrival. We hope to visit again, and will definitely recommend this estate to friends.

Travel in France at mouries

I spent one week in this fabulous site this year and the last three years.... You're really welcome in this very kind family. The swimming pool near of centuries trees is as quiet as beautiful like "gone with the wind" house. My 3 children and dogs were happy running everywhere ! My husband and I were very very pleased as usual in this property. See us next summer !!! And thanks for everything.

This a unique place in a natural reserve, and I would love to continue sharing with others my love of Provence.

Why they chose this property

A property with a unique location in a very quiet rural setting on 150 acres in the middle of the natural parc of the alpilles, but close to les baux de provence, saint remy, aix en provence, avignon, arles, etc.
