Outstanding Lodge
Bashford Lodge is a truly fantastic property! The lodge is beautiful throughout - kept to a very high standard with excellent spacious accommodation. The absolute star attraction are the stunning views from the lounge and balcony. The lodge is well positioned as a great base to explore the Quantocks and wider Somerset area. We couldn’t recommend it enough - and thanks again to Gll who was a brilliant host throughout. We cannot wait to return. Thanks again, Gavin & family.

Wonderful cottage
We thought that everything was perfect about our stay. The house was the perfect size for our family, was finished to a high standard and included all of the amenities we needed. Our host was friendly and had great advice about the local area. The great location meant that we were within east reach of the Somerset attractions whilst enjoying a stay in a cute country village.

Beautiful Lodge
We spent 4 nights at Bashford Lodge and had a wonderful break. The lodge is beautiful - 3 well sized bedrooms, all with huge double beds (all 3 can be split into twins if needed). There were 3 bathrooms that were spotlessly clean, as was the entire lodge. The kitchen had everything you needed including a wine fridge. The lounge area had bifold doors which opened up to a balcony which had the most amazing views! In was also in a great location. We visited Taunton, Street (fabulous shopping outlet called Clarks Village), Glastonbury Tor, Ifracombe and Exmouth. And many thanks to Gill who was great and made the whole process seamless.

great house and location
The house is very comfortable, clean and well equipped. The location is great for exploring the Quantock hills and local attractions. It also has the added bonus of having the Rising Sun Pub (great food) just around the corner. Gill is a very welcoming host, I would love to stay at the property again.

A TRULY WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE FROM START TO END.
OUR 2ND STAY AT BASHFORD LODGE THIS YEAR AND THIS TIME WAS EVEN BETTER. FROM THE FANTASTIC WELCOME YOU GET FROM EVERYONE THERE ( ESPECIALLY THE BIRTHDAY CAKE FROM GILL ) TO THE EXCELLENT HORSES AND MUCH MUCH MORE, IT IS VERY HARD TO HAVE TO LEAVE. THE ATTENTION TO DETAIL IN EVERY THING THEY DO IS 1ST CLASS. GILL ( OR SUPER WOMEN AS WE CALL HER ) AND DAVE MAKE SURE THEY LOOK AFTER YOU IN EVERY WAY. FANTASTIC LOCATION AS WELL WITH SO MUCH TO SEE AND DO. WE WERE A 3 GENERATION FAMILY GROUP 12 - 70 AND WE RUN OUT OF TIME TO DO IT ALL. WE WILL RETURN. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Absolutely the best everything!
Absolutely the best everything. Gill and Dave Nurcombe are fantastic hosts. They give you an amazing welcome when you arrive. The lodge is beautifully appointed , more like a top range show house, with a view to die for. The best break we've had in all the years we've taken holidays. A great big THANK YOU. I'd recommend Bashford Lodge to anyone, whether they want to go for a ride with their fantastic horse trekking business, or just have a wonderful restful time.

About the host

Hosted by Gill Nurcombe

Host profile image
Dave and Gill have been married 15 years. Dave has been a property developer and in the licence trade for many years and Gill is a chemist who retired from her post as Deputy Headmistress at Queen’s College Taunton. We set up a horse trekking business after our passion for riding, which we ran for 10 years. Walking and mountain biking are so popular in the area, being able to enjoy the beautiful and unspoilt Quantock hills. Mountain biking is also very popular in Great Wood and we found accommodation was needed so we built Bashford Lodge. With careful planning of what people wanted after a day on the Quantocks, the Lodge has been carefully planned to cater for that. We hope you like it!

Why they chose this property

Bashford Lodge has all the creature comforts of your own home, but with a different panoramic sunset every evening, with colours that will blow your mind. Open the bi-folding doors and bring the outside inside, or sit in the private garden and enjoy a barbeque or simply read a book or chat with friends. Our brand-new luxury accommodation features 3 double or twin rooms with super king zip-and-link beds. There are three state-of-art wet rooms with heated floors, a fluffy towels and crisp linen bedding are all provided. The kitchen is fully equipped including a 12 bottle drinks fridge will ensure your holiday is relaxed as possible. If you want to snuggle up by the wood burner or watch the latest films and browse the internet, or even play music through our wireless Bose speaker system, the choice is yours! Catering is available by arrangement if required (we happily cater for vegetarians and vegans), however the local gastro pub is within stumbling distance. There is plenty of parking for all your party.

What makes this property unique

Direct access to some of the finest riding and mountain biking country in Britain.
Close by are beautiful beaches and the historic steam railway. Bishop Lydeard Station is only 2 miles away, which is great fun going to Minehead on the steam train.... always a winner with young children!
With activities like bird watching, photography, and probably the best walking routes in Somerset, with various country pubs en route, there are plenty of ways to relax and enjoy your holiday. If you just fancy a complete rest, sitting in the south-facing garden with a glass of wine and best seller, then Bashford lodge is the place for you! Change over on FRIDAYS means you can relax and enjoy the weekend when you arrive. We also do winter breaks, give us a ring to check prices. Please call us for more information, go via simply owners website. For reviews about Bashford Lodgehttps://www.simplyowners.net/p/37089/
