Castle on Glen, a royal adventure

Cross the moat and climb the stone steps to explore an adventure in this 1927 3-bedroom, 1 1/2 bath Tudor home. The Castle comes furnished with everything you might expect in your own house: towels, linens, toiletries and even Band-Aids. The kitchen is fully stocked with spices, butter, oil, Pop-Tarts, pots & pans, both everyday and formal dishes, and anything else you may need to cook. Just grab your groceries and start making dinner. There is a drip coffee pot and both flavored and unflavored coffee, as well as a large selection of tea. The Castle also offers hi-speed wireless internet, TV with Netflix, a DVD library, a deck for outside dining, piano and a library of classics.
Missing the wardrobe of royalty? We've got you covered. Try on our dress-up clothes (from teeny weeny to very large), play with masks, or don the helmets imported from Scotland. It’s all just for fun.
We don't want you to miss out on some of the coolest features of the Castle, so we've set up a Treasure Hunt that sends you exploring to find cache at the end. We're confident you'll find the Castle to be more of an experience than a place to hang your hat.
This is not a B&B, but a guest house where you get the whole house to yourself. Ideal for romantic getaways, reunions or get-togethers.
Must be able to climb steps; half bath on first floor, all three bedrooms and full bath on second floor.
Located at 320 Glen Avenue in West Elmira, over the fence from the Country Club, 45 minutes from the Finger Lakes wineries, 10 minutes from the mall and 20 minutes to Corning.
2 day minimum; no pets allowed. This is a shoes-off house, so don't forget to bring your slippers.

Clean enough for King and Queen

Every corner of this “CASTLE “ was spotless. Comfortable beds, lots of attention to (details). Quiet area. Good reading & nice area to walk. Lucky for us there was a HUGE estate sale just a few blocks away. We had a terrific time ♥️ TY

Amazing House

This castle is beautiful. It had such a homey and warm feel to it. I felt like I was in my own home. The owner was really nice and easy to deal with. She left us a basket of food and wine, basket in the bathroom and fresh baked cinnamon buns. What lovely treats to welcome us. I would come back to this house in a heartbeat. The castle we very clean and everything was just so lovely.

Treated like royalty

What a wonderful weekend we had staying at the castle. We all loved the scavenger hunt and playing dress up. It rained all weekend but we were never bored with so much in the castle to occupy ourselves. It brought me back to staying at my Grandmother's house as the castle was built in the 1920's. Great experience for kids. Only recommendation is to have some kids costumes on hand, luckily we brought a dress for our 9 year old. We highly recommend staying at the castle. Such a unique experience.

Perfect Stay!

We were looking to stay at a B&B or something different during our past visit with family in Elmira and the Castle was the perfect fit. Very clean, everything in working order and we were greeted by delicious homemade scones, Dunkin Donuts coffee and a chilled bottle of wine-who can ask for more than this? The first night, my sisters and I had a mini girls getaway which included dressing one of us up in all the princess costumes which was surprisingly a lot of fun :) The beds are very comfortable and the space is open and airy which was unexpected. There is a full kitchen, pantry and a nice porch to eat breakfast in the warmer months. Outside of the expected, what sets this place apart are the little things like the basket of shaving cream, razors, sewing kit, personal items in the main bathroom, clear labels on how to use appliances and lights--all the personal touches that show an owner who truly cares about your stay!

Magical Weekend

We spent the weekend at this delightful and charming castle. Upon arrival, we enjoyed a most entertaining treasure hunt arranged by the owner, complete with a prize at the end. The castle is superbly decorated with so many interesting objects in china cabinets, bookcases. nooks and crannies. There is a turret with costumes, masks and dress up accessories that we had so much fun exploring. The castle layout is so cozy - well designed for relaxation and conversation. The kitchen is very well equipped with anything you need to make a great meal. The beds were exceptionally comfortable with top quality linens. The whole castle was spotless. Last, but not least, the owner was super responsive, friendly and left easy to follow instructions along with great tips for local attractions. Our family has rented many places over the years, but this one topped them all for charm, comfort, cleanliness and satisfaction.

Everything expected and more

This palace was fantastic. Anything you want? They have. From toiletries to food to utensils to condiments. We packed very little food and it was a perfect mix of the accommodations and our own belongings. I went with my daughter and her friend and they glad a blast with the costumes. They are small sizes but there a few plus size. The scavenger hunt was fun and there are alot of things within 10 minutes or go to corning which is what qe did to eat and the museum. One thing I have to say however is the castle is hot. The fans really do nothing but move the hot air around. We were very uncomfortable for two of the high 80s days and nights, in spite of following suggestions. That said, the beds were comfortable. We woukd stay here again, in cooler weather, for sure!

One of a kind Castle!!

This castle is amazing!! From the 'treasure hunt', trying on costumes, the delightfully comfortable bed and the amenities available, to the history and collectibles throughout the house - i was in awe each day. I could have spent another 3 days just reading and enjoying the castle. We had two deer in the side yard one morning - ideal viewing with a cup of coffee. Many thanks to the host Kitty. We adored her castle and will be back next time we visit family in the area.

Weekend Getaway

We loved the house and the theme! It was very way to find and centrally located to all of our favorite hiking and kayaking spots. The scavenger hunt was a nice way to wind down after a long day of hiking. Kitty definitely goes above and beyond to accommodate guests. Highly recommend this property!

A Castle Getaway!

We spent a lovely snowy winter week at this wonderful castle. Kitty is an amazing host - very caring and responsive. Starting from the extensive assortments of tea and coffee, everything in the castle was extremely well thought, meticulously organized and clean. The scavenger hunt, collection of costumes, masks, accessories, and the lovely piano are some of the great additions to the fun and excitement! We rented many vacation places during the past few years, but this charming castle is the best of all. We had the most comfortable and relaxing vacation week here!

Lovely Castle with Fun Scavenger Hunt

My husband and I were looking at a long weekend getaway. We'd never been to Elmira before but wanted to visit the Corning Museum and discovered this place on Vrbo. This place was so beautiful and comfortable! It was very clean, cozy and the decorations were so charming and well thought out. We spent most of the day outside visiting Elmira and Corning but it was pleasant to come back to the Castle and spend an evening either watching one of the DVDs from the Library, playing the piano or simply relaxing on the couch and armchair. I made a delicious meal for one of the nights we decided not to do takeout and it was great. The costumes in the attic was gorgeous. We had a lot of fun doing the scavenger hunt and even got the bonus round! We were sad to leave, it was such a nice place to get away from it all. The owner, Kitty, was so responsive and helpful if we needed anything. No complaints.

NONE FINER

Kitty’s and John’s Castle is the finest property we have visited - and we have visited quite a few. Aside from being unique in design and layout, everything was though of. The kitchen is more than fully equipped with a wide variety of utensils, spices, oils and condiments. The castle is located close to town in a very quiet neighborhood. Easy access to finger lake waterfalls, wineries and creameries and, of course, the Corning glass museum, a must see. You might also decide not to leave the castle as the hosts have prepared plenty of things to keep you entertained. If southwest New York is in your plans, stay here.

Why they chose this property

The Castle was built in 1927 with superior craftsmanship including lots of natural wood and solid wood doors with heavy iron hinges. The house is furnished with antiques and the best and most comfortable beds. You may never want to leave.

What makes this property unique

It's a castle! And I've created adventures throughout. Snoop. Look. You won't be disappointed!
