La Cascina Langa - Perla di Piemonte
Short summary: Cascina Langa is a remarkable site, maybe not highly luxury, but very cosy and homely. Many things to discover and lots of space for large groups. One may easily spend 2 weeks at the site and the vicinity without getting bored. The organisation and staff is very accommodating. Hint: do not miss the introduction to the pizza-house by Michaela. Afterwards you'll become a real pizza chef and supply you and your group with a never ending stream of pizza!
In more detail about our trip:
Who: large group - 24 Adults, 11 Children -> a good mix of families, couples and singles.
When: End of August, staying 2 weeks
Site: Cascina Langa lays roughly on the top of the hills with a wonderful view over the Valle Bormida. You can book the total site for your group exclusively. The next neighbours are roughly 400 meters away, which was for our noisy group more than perfect! It is so much off the track, that some of us had problems to find it (Tip: make sure, that your GPS knows the small roads or simply follow the description given by the host: Giulia) The house(s) itself is an old restored farm house. The site is so big, that even with 35 people you'll find silent spots. It has up 13 bedrooms and 2 large kitchens - one at the ground floor and one at the 3rd level which exits directly into the hilly garden. In the upper section of the garden you'll find a fun area with a pool (bring a volleyball net to stretch it over the pool! ;) ), a small soccer place, and the pool house with table tennis, table soccer and a barbecue. Further, the upper garden has a wonderful view to the valley.
Down at the farmyard you'll find a small house which we enjoyed most: the pizza house with a large stone baking oven and some space to prepare your pizza. Michaela and Salvatore (staff of Giulia) showed us in a first joint session how to use the oven and prepare the pizza and the dough. So we're able to make the finest pizzas ourselves... and WE DID!
The organisation: Giulia gave us a lot of tips in advance! The pricing was very good and fair. All costs were given in advance, no hidden costs occurred in the final payment, only the already stated power/heating costs as well as damaged goods (which was also fair priced). Further you should ask Michaela for a good restaurant!
Vicinity: Visit farmer Mario (ca 400m away) for local food and wine!
The sea: is a bit away - ca. 45min via autostrada. We recommend Bergeggi - also for scuba diving.
Anything else: discover yourself!
