Beautiful Retreat

We stayed at 3 Otters for a family reunion and it was absolutely gorgeous. Located on the Potomac river, if you're looking for a getaway from everyday life and your 9 to 5, definitely look here. Several Yurts to sleep in, a wonderful linai, a grill patio, beautiful garden with vegetables to pick, vintage campers and a great grill patio with screens to protect against bugs. This huge property is great for gathering and at the same time offers many spots to simply "get away" from the group for those who are a little overwhelmed with large parties. Def recommend, 5 out of 5 stars!

Fantastic Family Reunion!

We had an incredibly memorable stay at 3 Otters for our family reunion. Rich was very responsive to questions and needs before and during our stay. While we had some rain, it did not dampen our experience:) 3 Otters is truly as described in the listing and allowed all of us to have a great weekend! There is variability in mattresses, so with older adults being flexible and finding a good spot for them to stay where they’re comfortable is helpful. We’ll equipped with cooking and baking supplies and you can’t beat the access to the river!

Perfect spot for a family reunion

We had a 3-generation family reunion here - it was perfect. Each family unit had their own accommodations. The kitchen and grill pavilion were well-provisioned. The grounds are beautiful. There were many nice and thoughtful touches. Rich met us upon arrival and came around checkout to help us. There was a power outage after a big storm, and Rich called the utility company and brought us a backup generator. The river area is spectacular, and there were chairs, kayaks, and tubes enough for our large crew to play all day. We look forward to our next visit!

Exceeded Expectations - Such a Dream!

I can't even put into words how perfect this property is. Photos and descriptions will never do it the justice it deserves. We had a non-traditional bachelorette party for sister at Three Otters Eco Retreat. The only request my sister had before booking our trip was that she wanted to roll out of bed and float all day. This property provided that and so much more. We had a few people in our party that were a little worried when I mentioned camping/glamping. For some of our guests, it was their first time ever going to a retreat like this. We just wanted to make sure everyone felt comfortable. All of that worry went away the minute we arrived. We also had a few people that were worried about not having cell phone service. It actually worked out for the best. It was so nice to connect with your friends and family and look around and see that everyone is talking and no one is scrolling on their phones. The landline worked out perfectly for people to check in with their family at home and it was never an issue. The cabin was perfect for our older guests who wanted easy access to the bathroom. It was so clean and very well kept! Our favorite were the Yurts. They were huge and so comfortable. The luxury tents and vintage campers were also perfect! Our party only occupied the properties that lined the river. The other sleeping options looked awesome as well, but we did not need to use them. The indoor kitchen was amazing and had everything we needed! The outdoor pavilion was perfect for hanging out at night. The bath house was so clean and in perfect condition. If I were to give a recommendation to a potential visitor: If you are on the fence for booking this retreat, their website is very helpful and has a lot more photos (Google Three Otters Eco Resort) I have to also mention how wonderful Rich and Theresa were. They were incredibly kind and helpful throughout the entire process. I did as a lot of questions and I never felt I was never an annoyance. We can't wait to return one day! Such a perfect trip!

Beautiful place to make family memories!

We had parents, children, grandchildren & great grandchildren stay at Three Otters. Everyone enjoyed the seclusion.... it was peaceful with a variety of places to sleep, great kitchen space, nice screened pavilion where we shared all our family meals & played games, a large open field where we played kick ball, capture the flag, corn hole, etc. The screened porch overlook was comfy to relax & read in, watch others in the water. The river water was a little high since there had been a lot of rain prior to our trip (and some on the weekend) making it a little challenging for the small ones to play in but we managed to tube down the river and get some kayaking in. A few of the guys enjoyed fishing even though only one caught any fish. The property was well maintained. The mulch on the walking paths between the trailers/tents & yurts were really nice especially with the rain/mud. The variety of sleeping accommodations were fun too. My favorite was the yurts!! The bathrooms were nice & clean and easily accommodated our entire family (35 +). The final stretch of road & gravel after leaving the Berkley Springs area required careful driving on the winding roads but worth the trip. The owners Rich & Teresa were very nice. They answered questions promptly prior to the trip and were there to greet us. I would highly recommend this place for some outdoor fun with family & friends!!

Peaceful Potomac

Areas like 3 Otters are rare. No technology area promotes the enjoyment of natutr and each other against the backdeop of scenic beauty and total silence. The hosts were excellent to work with.

Incredible retreat!

Everything about our weekend at Three Otters was wonderful - the place is beautiful and thoughtfully designed, it has everything you need to relax or try new adventures, and the owners and staff were a delight. With a group of around 25 friends and family, everyone loved the housing options, found plenty to do, and left refreshed. We can't wait to return!

Beautiful, relaxing, and such an amazing experience!

Our sorority came up for Labor Day weekend for our sisterhood retreat. The goal was relaxation and bonding, and this was surpassed! Three Otters is BEAUTIFUL & so peaceful. Love the location right along the river, and it provided us with tubes, canoeing, etc. The kitchen and pavilion were perfect places for our group of 20 to meet, eat, and socialize together. The yurts were my absolute favorite lodging option!! And the owners are so incredibly nice, helpful, and welcoming. Highly recommend!!!

Simply Amazing!!

Three Otters was everything I could have hoped for and was perfect for my work group. The pictures and descriptions are accurate and Rich was exceptionally patient and timely with answering my multitude of questions. The accommodations were so comfortable, that we hardly noticed the rain over the weekend. I cannot believe how nice the bathhouse was - the simple fact that they have flush toilets and hot showers all the way out there is amazing. We also hired Cat to do catering for 90% of our food needs while out there. It made our trip SO much easier logistically and the food was really good. Also, so nice not to have to do dishes for our group. (And the catering price is VERY reasonable.) Lastly, I was so happy that Three Otters allows dogs. My dogs had a BLAST being out there and ran themselves silly. They slept for 3 days straight afterwards. A BIG thank you to Rich and Cat and the Three Otters team for creating a great environment that won over even the least outdoorsy of my group.

Wonderful Spot for a Family Reunion

Twenty adults (ages 74-21) and 10 children (ages 7 yrs-4 weeks) gathered at Three Otters for a much needed family reunion. We were warmly welcomed by Teresa and Rich. The variety of accommodations fit the needs of the group perfectly from the cabin for the 3 mothers with young babes, to the yurt for the eldest. We shared the cooking tasks among the families and used the river kitchen and grill kitchen to the fullest extent. I think the favorite spot for everyone was at the water's edge or in the Potomac River. Though not everyone could stay the three nights the consensus was we must return next year. Everything we needed was there. No need to get in the car to go see this or that. It is a lovely spot, away for the world with a chance to reconnect with family and nature.

Absolutely Amazing

As a parent, that first wedding is going to have many new twists. Well, this was the best choice my daughter and new son-in-law could have made besides deciding to marry each other. The setting was beautiful and Rich and Teresa made sure this was the perfect wedding for our daughter. Everything was great - the food, the accommodations, even the weather cooperated! When we left, we not only had new bonds with our new extended family, but we also felt like Rich and Teresa had become part of the family. We were talking a reunion/anniversary celebration for our daughter before we left. Without a doubt, this was the best!

The wedding of our dreams!

My husband and I had our wedding at Three Otters, and it was nothing short of our dream come true. We stayed for three days, along with 30 or so members of our family and friends. Everyone had an incredible time. The owners, Rich and Teresa, are extremely helpful and accommodating, always making sure everyone had what they needed, plus, they are a delight to be around. We stayed in the yurt and it is just as amazing as it looks in the pictures. Not everyone in our family is extremely outdoorsy, but Three Otters was able to please everyone’s needs for creature comforts with all the different lodging options. Also, the bathrooms are super nice – nice enough to comfortably get ready for my wedding day, which says a lot! We purchased the food plans, and the food they fed us was absolutely delicious, healthy, and just what we needed to keep us going throughout the weekend. We just had so much fun. No one ever got bored. We brought lots of board games because we thought we would need to keep people entertained, but it turned out, they were unnecessary. When you have the beautiful outdoors, a fire pit, and a river, what else could you need? The most wonderful part of our wedding weekend was watching all of our loved ones, most of whom didn’t know each other, become best of friends over the three day weekend. Our family and friends bonded in a way I don’t think would have happened quite like it did anywhere else. Three Otters is a magical place. It was the most fun-filled, beautiful weekend we ever could have hoped for, and our wedding exceeded our wildest expectations.

An amazing Family Wedding at the most beautiful location!

I'll be honest, I am NOT an outdoorsy gal....having said that, my niece had her wedding at Three Otters and it was absolutely the BEST wedding I've ever been too!!! The location is remarkably beautiful and peaceful. The accommodations were charming, the food delicious and the owners were super sweet. They made us feel as if we were part of their family and could not have been more accommodating and gracious. And now for the shocker from this city gal.........I WANT to go back!!! Sitting on the deck reading, floating down the river, walking through their garden, yoga on the grass - truly idyllic. The most relaxing family wedding in the history of the world! No stress, just beauty, fun, laughter and great great memories!! Thank you Three Otters for an amazing weekend I will NEVER forget!!

Perfect escape!

Family of 4, stayed the weekend in the yurt. Yurt: The yurt was not only stylish, it was very comfortable, clean and well stocked with furniture. There were plenty of shelving units to put all of our stuff, more than enough linens (nice linens, not cheap) for our family of four and the sofa bed pull out was large enough that the two kids didn't mind sharing it so we didn't need the futon. There isn't power as this is still camping. We visited in July and during the day it did get warm, but not unbearable. We brought a portable power supply and fan which worked well. It was very cool in the morning so no fan needed. Bathrooms: Can't say enough about the bath house. Four private bathrooms, each with its own shower, toilet and sink. They were clean and had a rolling shelf unit to put all of your stuff as well as a towel bar and towel hook. So often you don't have a place for towels, wet bathing suits and toiletries but this was all accounted for so none of our stuff had to go on the floor. The shower was a normal indoor shower stall and the vanity was actually suitable for a nice indoor bathroom. This didn't feel like a bathhouse at all, rather felt like it was inside a really nice log cabin. One warning, close the door behind you very quickly because bugs will follow you in. You are in the woods after all. But if you ensure bugs don't follow you in, they won't get in once the door is closed. Camp fire circle: there are several places for camp fires so you can join others or have a private fire (depending on occupancy of course). Plenty of chairs available for the camp fires. Grill pavilion: we ended up not using this since we cooked on the camp fire but it was very nice. The grill portion is covered, and the eating area is completely screened in. Kitchen: very nice kitchen. We didn't use it but it looked to have everything you'd need. It's air conditioned and has fridges available for food storage. There were tables inside and a small deck outside with a few tables overlooking the river that would have been great to enjoy the view with a meal. River: I had no idea the Potomac could be this clear. Crystal clear and felt incredible. We did one of the tube floating trips and it was awesome. Floated for a mile and a half then walked back. Teresa was a great host during the tube float. There's also kayaks available as well as kayak lessons. Dog friendly: we brought our dog and she stayed off leash the entire weekend. Plenty of room for her

Perfect Nature Retreat

We had over 80 people together for a family reunion. We spread out nicely among the Yurt, the Vintage trailers, and the pop-up campers. There was also plenty of room for a dozen or so camping tents. Kids played kickball and glow-tag. We had a 'closets-to-the-pin' golf tournament. Everyone enjoyed the river, which was pleasantly cool, but not cold, and had a fun, but not threatening current. Swimming, wading, climbing, and kayaking galore. Plenty of gear so we didn't need to wait for a turn on a kayak. Such great facilities! Clean private bathrooms, the full riverside kitchen, the screened-in lunch kitchen, the river-view deck with the screen porch. Our nice, clean pop-up camper, with AC power and an air-conditioner! A great contrast of new, clean, modern conveniences, in the middle or remote, wild, West Virginia. Except for TV or Internet, which is kinda' the whole point! Theresa and Rich are awesome, and it is obvious that they love sharing this little slice of heaven.

Heavenly Retreat

Where to start . . . accommodations were outstanding, hosts were exceptionally hospitable, weather was perfect, the river was awesome. We attended with a large group that was easily accommodated yet my son and I were also able experience one-on-one time to connect (mainly because of the environment but also because he could not connect to the web!) The retreat provides an excellent balance of adventurous activities and peaceful relaxation surrounded by nature's beauty. All the details have been considered and the facilities are exceptional.

Great for groups!

I was a part of a large group that stayed at Three Otters for the Memorial Day weekend. It was great! The owners were extremely helpful and kind the whole weekend. The kitchen and amenities made it easy to feed our whole group. And the bathrooms were nicer than some homes I've been in!! I totally recommend Three Otters!

Relaxing Trip at Three Otters

My family stayed for a weekend at Three Otters and had a fabulous time. We unplugged all electronics and got back to nature, exactly what we needed. Teresa and her family were so helpful and very knowledgeable about their surroundings. We kayaked, swam, and caught lots of river critters. My boys spent almost all of their time in the river, a very relaxing and calming weekend. We will definitely be returning.

Birthday Celebration of a Lifetime

An absolute must visit. I had a group of 40 people at Three Otters for a weekend and it was amazing. Many had never camped before and all would return. The facilities are well thought out, new and clean. I brought a chef to cook a gourmet meal Saturday night; he used the main kitchen and gathered organic vegetables from the garden to add to the meal. We enjoyed the kayaks, sitting and chatting on the deck by the water, walk’s on the property and games in the screened dining area. The Yurt is heavenly for those who do not like to pitch a tent. What a joy, thank you Three Otters.

Wonderful Family Getaway

We stayed at Three Otters last summer as a family (2 adults, 3 young children). We loved exploring the Potomac River and the beautiful surroundings. We all have great memories of kayaking, canoeing, hiking, and just relaxing by the river and campfire. Three Otters offers VERY clean and comfortable facilities including modern kitchen and bathroom amenities. It was a perfect place to relax and unwind as a family! The owners couldn't have been more welcoming and made all of us feel right at home. We highly recommend for a relaxing and memorable family getaway!!

Charm and Respite on the Potomac

Three Otters Eco Retreat is the most delightful and relaxing respite from the stresses that define most of our every day lives. I've been three times -- two overnights and one day trip -- and each visit there's some new, fun feature or activity. Hosts Teresa & Rich have built a unique mountain retreat on the banks of the scenic Potomac River where MD and WVA meet. Natural beauty and recreational opportunities abound. Along with the nearby town of Berkeley Springs with its hot baths, charming shops and restaurants, there's something to please everyone. Teresa and Rich have put together a funky and eclectic array of accommodations from upscale yurt to tents to vintage campers. You won't believe the love and attention to detail they've put into the place. A great getaway for a small gathering of family and friends or a larger group. I'm already planning my next trip!
