The view is breathtaking. It even has an electric fireplace for a romantic ambiance in the evening. There is a sofabed in the cabin for extra guests if needed. The mini kitchen consists of a large refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, two burner hot plate and coffee maker with coffee and filters supplied. Free Wi-Fi and DirectTV satellite is included. The vacation cabin is very close to Hamilton where there is shopping, restaurants, churches, gas stations, and other activities to chose from. Bitterroot River is a mere 3 miles away with fishing access and there is the Calf Creek Wildlife Management area only a couple miles down the road with hunting access. Each cabin has it's own outside grill and firepit to enjoy those outside activities. Each cabin is decorated with the original watercolor paintings and limited edition reproductions of co-owner/professional artist, Tracy Rose Moyers. Pets are considered but must be approved by management first. The cabins are located in a rural area but within minutes of Hamilton and Corvallis, which have numerous shops, restaurants, grocery stores, and activities abound. The neighborhood is rural country with a cattle ranch in front and our neighbors have chickens, a rooster, sheep and cattle. The property consists of our private log home and two other vacation cabins on acres. It is located on a dead end dirt road with only five other private residences on the lane. Only 20 minutes from the cabins is the beautiful, refreshing Lake Como which has a sandy beach and swimming area. Bring your boat and you can launch your boat and go water-skiing, jet ski, or just cruise.
There are numerous National Forest hiking trails located within minutes of the cabins. The area is one of the best fly-fishing areas around and has numerous fishing access within minutes of the cabins. Horseback riding, hunting, rafting, kayaking, tubing are all available in the area. For winter visitors, the Lost Trail Powder Mountain Ski resort is only about 45 minutes away and has skiing and snowboarding. Cross country skiing is also a big recreation in this area. In 50 minutes, you can be in Missoula where the University of Montana and the airport is located. Missoula has a large collection of shops and galleries and restaurants. In two hours north, you can visit Flathead Lake, the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi. Drive a little farther and visit the little town of Bigfork with it's numerous galleries and shops. Keep going north another hour and you will be in Glacier National Park and see all it's glory and take a drive on the 'Road to the Sun' with it's breathtaking views and wildlife.

Peaceful and close to everything!

We were her to participate in the Bitterroot Celtic Games and Gathering for our very first time and were thrilled to find this cute little cabin that was just exactly what we needed for our family of 3 +2 dogs. It was just as it shows in the pictures and we were very happy with not only how quiet it was but we were close to Daly Mansion for our event but also just minutes from town. The hosts were very sweet and honestly this was our first experience with Vrbo and it was excellent!

Disappointed

I knew I was booking a rustic cabin but did not pay enough attention to the lack of a kitchen sink & how tiny & sadly appointed the kitchen was… two burner cooktop looked to be a fire hazard. Did not risk using it. Tiny little counter area did not lend itself to cooking but no kitchen sink & bathroom sink was it for cleaning/washing any dishes/coffee pot etc The cabin is very tiny & was cluttered (my opinion) was too many fake flowers, pillows, blanket on floor used as a rug (very slippery)… But again it was a rustic cabin… Owner called me shortly after I departed & said key was missing from table… Advised key was there when I left & heard nothing more. Was very quiet (rooster next door however) & views were great… did not use fire pit… wood was wet.

Quintessential Quarters

Wolf Den is the smallest of the cabins at Wilderness Spirit Cabins but fulfilled our needs quite well. The hosts are great and the views are amazing. Wonderful deck with glasses provided for wine made for some remarkable star gazing nights! We stayed for two weeks and didn't want to leave. If we ever get the chance to go back, we'll be calling on Tracy and Dale to host us again!

Wonderful Stay!

We loved our stay in the Wolf Den. Tracy and Dale welcomed us into their home and shared great recommendations for places to check out. The cabin itself has everything you need plus games and DVDs. The property is gorgeous with stunning views. Close to town yet far enough away that it's quiet and relaxing. We would recommend staying here to all of our friends! Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Great little stay

Tracy and Dale are very nice hosts, great to visit with. Their dog, Diego, is a sweetheart and loves people! The Wolf’s Den is cozy, clean and quiet, and with everything that one needs for a short stay. We had dinner in town (5 minutes away) at Bitterroot Brewing, which served excellent food and beer. I highly recommend that as well. Sadly, due to the Moose fire to the south, there was too much smoke to enjoy the evening views (absolutely NO fault of the hosts), but the little front porch would have been a great spot to enjoy the evening.

Great stay!

The wolf den is a cozy, clean cabin that was just the right size for my fiancé, 2 pups and me. There was enough kitchen equipment for us to easily make dinner. The bathroom was clean. It was just what we needed for our stay in between our camping trips. The full size refrigerator with freezer was great. We really enjoyed our stay. Would recommend!!!

Quiet, comfortable, rustic

We stayed in the "Wolf Den" for a quick two night trip to visit family in the Hamilton/Missoula area. The cabin was perfect for two people, clean and had everything we needed. The location was excellent; only minutes away from downtown Hamilton yet still removed from the crazy that is now Western Montana. The property managers were very friendly and let us go about our stay. Peaceful and beautiful view from the deck in the early morning and evening a bonus. We will definitely look for this location on our next stay!

About the host

Hosted by Tracy and Dale Moyers

Host profile image
Dale and Tracy moved out to Montana from Virginia, to follow their dream of running a vacation cabin rental business. Tracy is also a professional artist that specializes in watercolor and paints the Native Americans, wildlife and landscapes of Montana. Her studio is located in the main house on the same grounds as the cabins. The couple moved to Montana the summer of 2014 and after living in their motorhome for the summer and looking at numerous properties for sale, they found just what they were looking for with this property- a log house with three cabins. The property was owned by an older woman that ran it as a bed and breakfast (Heavenly View Hideaway Bed and Breakfast) but at 75 years of age she was ready to sell and retire. Being the ideal place that Tracy and Dale were looking for.

Tracy and Dale met and dated in high school back in Virginia but when Tracy went out to Denver Colorade for Art College, they went separate ways. They dated again after Tracy graduated and came back to Virginia but at that time were on different paths, so went separate ways again. They both married other people and moved on with their lives. But 30 years later, after both happened to be divorced, they ran into one another again and the third time was the charm- they got married. Both brought two sons each into the marriage and now all four sons are grown and out on their own. That was when Tracy and Dale got the opportunity to follow their dreams and move out to Montana and start the new business, Wilderness Spirit Cabins.

Why they chose this property

After visiting Montana for the first time back in 2000, Tracy fell in love with the state. Visited again several times through the years and introduced it to Dale. Both love the beauty and mountains and rivers and lakes of the area and looked at numerous properties in the western part of Montana before finding the perfect spot. Which was this place!

What makes this property unique

The heavenly view is the highlight of this property. Also the rural atmosphere yet real close to the towns of Corvallis and Hamilton and the numerous activities that one can enjoy in the Bitterroot Valley.
