This was an incredible experience for our family, way beyond what I was expecting. I highly recommended it.
The place is enormous - it swallowed up four kids and seven adults so easily we kept losing track of each other. The antique look of the finishings at first seemed dated to the millennials in our group, but that quickly gave way to a warm, wholesome, well-worn feeling that made us all think we were young kids visiting our grandparents' lovingly-maintained farmhouse.
I cooked several meals for us there and enjoyed every minute of it - powerful range, adept wall oven, serious mixer, tons of counter space, second sink and work area in a butlers pantry, spacious high-end fridge/freezer, enough plates, cups, and silverware to start a restaurant, and that's just what you find in the house.
Out back, there's a giant gas-assisted fireplace that even I could light, a Trager, a sink with hot water, and a brick oven that grilled up some amazing tri-tip roast, all nestled in immaculately-kept grounds large enough to fit two or three more houses this same size. The photos don't really do this place justice, but I selfishly hope they don't update them or everyone would be staying here!
Beds were super comfortable, bathrooms were modern and spotless, and the owner was responsive and engaged throughout the rental.
The one thing I didn't plan as well for as I should have was the stairs, and the difficulty they presented to the older folks in my group. Not at all the owners fault, but do keep in mind that all the bedrooms (and showers) are on the second floor, and the (glorious) tall ceilings on the main level make it quite a hike for someone with a bum hip. It may not be feasible, but if there was any way for the owners to open up the locked-off area on the main level that I think is a servant's quarters and turn it into a bedroom, it would be just perfect.
But really, that was just a small issue and all on me for not planning for it.
Again, this place is amazing and you mustn't hesitate to book it. You won't regret it, and the memories you make here will last a lifetime.
