Location, location, location! 2-min walk to one of best surf breaks in the world
White Picket Fence is just steps away from the best surf break in Nosara. There are a few things that make this town so special: it's world-renowned for surfing and yoga, has a small-town feel, and the beaches are protected natural reserves. So the beaches are unlike any other - primitive, untouched and the most beautiful sunsets you'll ever see.

This place is really well located, in the heart of Nosara, steps from great surf, Gilded Iguana Surf Club and Bike Outfitters, Frogpad, Rolling Waves coffee, restaurants, shops and more. The apartment is really charming and comfortable, very well maintained, with nice rocking chairs on the balcony to sip on morning coffee or an evening beer. The grounds are lush and beautiful, with a nice pool and plenty of shaded areas for naps or lounging with a book. Highly recommend!
Very nice apartment in tranquil gardens. The walk to the beach was short. A beautiful long beach for walking. Lots of great spots to surf.
The hosts are very friendly and responsive but we really didn’t have any issues. That made our stay very relaxing. Pool side in the middle of the day was perfect.
Lots of great places to eat. Our recommendations: Beach Dog Cafe, Howler’s Taco (at the corner) and Organico Bakery.
Great little spot. You walk everywhere.
My girlfriend and I rented this for our anniversary. The place is just as described, steps from the beach, right next to great taco spots, bars and surf shops. The pool is fantastic.
Brayan is a great host, he provided recommendations for food, set up our transportation and coordinated with cleaners to ensure we were able to do laundry.
There is a guard that walks the grounds from 5pm-5am which is a great addition although the town seemed very safe either way!
I would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone looking for a great beach spot!
The location is great, right near the "downtown" area with all the restaurants and shops. The pool is small and there is no locked gate around the property. There are other units so people are coming and going. We had a bad experience where we were unable to account for a certain amount of cash and had bags moved around in our unit while we were out at dinner. When checking in they mentioned they have a security guard walking the grounds overnight, but we never met the security guard for him to know we were the ones staying there, and never saw him. Definitely lock all valuables/cash when you leave the unit. We were refunded our stay, and the property manager was responsive to our incident and request which was good, but we ended up leaving and staying somewhere else where we felt safer.

Excellent place and people. Will definitely go back!
We stayed on the top floor at White Picket Fence. Caroline and Alex are AWESOME and it's so close to the beach that you can go back and forth, which is lovely. Restaurant suggestions were great. Super comfortable bed, and nice bathroom with great shower (and good shower pressure) and an air conditioner that worked perfectly. Functional separate kitchen - open air concept. Quiet early - so just be aware. It was good to have some down time but it's important to be prepared for early to bed and early to rise :) Two nice rockers on the porch which is a great spot to visit and read. There is talk of a hammock going in, and a pool is being constructed - both of which would be excellent additions and would make it pretty darn perfect. You'll need to bring a beach towel as the towels there are just for the shower (but having a set of beach towels would be a great addition and one less thing to worry about packing and bringing around). Also, just a tip to bring cash with you as the closest bank machine doesn't always have cash and doesn't accept cards with chips when it does, and some groceries from Nicoya or a bigger town as the mini super that's nearby is really expensive. If you don't have a car, there is a National car rental nearby and otherwise it's a bit tricky to get out to some of the nearby towns or beaches but depending on your length of stay, you might not need to! By far our favourite spot from the trip and we will definitely be going back!!!

Perfect set up!
My girlfriend and I stayed at White Picket Fence and it was an awesome place! I've stayed in vrbo properties all over the world and this was an awesome setup. We stayed in the upstairs tree top rental and was ample space with cold AC, wifi, clean and comfortable bed/sheets, reliable electricity through big storms, hot water, and every other hotel amenity you can think of. The kitchen had all utensils, pots, pans so that we could make dinner. We relaxed on the porch each night under the stroms and relaxed in the pool a couple nights. Caroline also owns a boutique shop, ATV tour company and has 30+ surf boards on property to rent. I usually bring a board but having those boards right there saved me the board luggage fees! Instead of searching around endlessly for a deal on canopy rides, ATV tours, etc, you can have access to Caroline directly. Caroline was awesome and made to a deal to rent a board for the time I was there. I walked right down the street and surfed right out front while my girlfriend relaxed on the safe beaches. There's plenty of other tourists around on the beach so no need to worry about theft like some other beaches in Costa Rica. Also right down the street are a bunch of good restaurants! Incase you need one more reason to book this property, they also have 2 dogs running around the property who are super nice. Before we arrived, Caroline made sure we were cool with them and liked dogs and didn't mind them being around. It was nice coming home to a happy pup!
Wonderful & functional appartement!
Very close to the beach & to all amenities but still peaceful & quiet.
You wake up to the howler monkeys, then the day is all about the sound of the ocean and the singing of the birds, to then fall asleep to the rythme of the crickets ….
We cannot wait to come back!!!!
We loved the location- close to lots of great spots in town. The accommodations were clean and inviting; we loved relaxing on the balcony surrounded by lush foliage. Would highly recommend!
My husband and I had such an amazing time- it was unforgettable. Alejandra and Patrick were so welcoming and helpful and made our trip! The location was perfect and the place was immaculate! Thank you for such a great time- we miss it already!!
We loved our stay here. The property has a lovely courtyard with a pool and recreation deck (outfitted with a ping pong table during our stay). Patrick, the property owner, is a cool laid back surfer that gets you right in the pura vida mindset. He was very helpful when we needed anything. We were minutes away walking to the beach or restaurants, so no need to have a car to stay here. Thanks for the great stay!
This rental is an experience! Unit 1 is a completely private second floor complete with kitchen and private balcony with rocking chairs, hammock, kitchen island and table. The property also has a fresh water pool that is the perfect reprieve from the salty ocean. It is unfortunate that they are directly beside a large construction project that starts at 6am. When we visited, the weather was abnormally rainy due to a hurricane system so we had no choice but to stay at the property which was not very relaxing due to the construction noise. The project does look like it could be nearing to a close in the coming months.
When we chose to leave the coast one day early (seeming drier conditions), Caroline was very accommodating and gave us back the full day refund. We appreciated this very much as it was not something they were required to do.

Disappointed
We left 3 nights early because the air conditioning wasn’t working and there was construction going on next door from 6 am through late afternoon. The owner had offered a 20% discount due to construction, but never refunded the money. I sent 3 emails after we left and got no response. They did give us our security deposit back. This place is in a great location, super cute, and has great potential, but we couldn’t escape the heat or the hammering and sawing, so we left and lost the money on the three nights we pre-paid as well. When construction is done and ac is repaired or replaced, this place will be great!

Amazing Costa Rican Surf Vacation!
Everything was amazing from the accommodations to the guest care, and to the proximity and quality of the surf. I would have given five stars but there was so much nearby construction that it detracted from our experience. The great news is that the owner recognized this proactively and discounted the daily rate appropriately. I will definitely return!!

Great time at WPF / Playa Guiones
First off Alice and Alex were great hosts! They really make your stay relaxing and comfortable. They have great suggestions on best places to eat. We had an SUV rental so getting around to the best spots wasn't an issue. You easily could get by with a ATV or bikes. I only say this is because some of the places to eat were on the north side, which was like a 10 to 15 min drive on really bad roads. We stayed in the top unit in June. They had some strong down pours at night, which was unusual for this time of the year they said. I only say this because the roof is tin and it was a little loud for only a couple nights. Not a negative, just something to be aware of during the rainy season. The porch was great and we sat out there most of the time with a fan on. This made it comfy. I took a few siestas in the hammock too. The bedroom and bathroom were in good shape. One thing to remember. This is open air for the most part and your in the tropical jungle. You will see some bugs around if you visit in the rainy season. The AC worked great at night and kept us cool. The beach is close by as all the other reviews have said. Ruth and Maggie took a few walks on the beach with us. They are really great, Great Danes. I recommend doing the iQuad tour with Alex's crew as it was a good time and you see some really cool parts of Nosara. This is right out back from WPF. They also do surf lessons with Mark. Mark is also your tour guide for the ATV. Great guy! Maybe if your nice, he'll take you to El Chivo for some Chili Guerro. ;o) We will be back someday with our son for sure!

great spot!
Just spent 2 weeks at white picket fence with my wife and 2 teenage sons and truly enjoyed the place and the location. Our host Alice was also very helpful and accommodating with anything we needed. If you want to surf, it's awesome as its a 2 min walk to the beach and we rented our board directly from them. Its really well located for grocery and restaurants with plenty in walking distance. The bikes on site also made it nice for quick stroll around guiones or checking how good or bad the waves were. Another bonus is they have the quads on site so we rented them for a couple hours here and there to go explore different spots. Would go back in heartbeat

Just as perfect as the pictures!
My husband and I recently stayed at White Picket Fence with two of our friends. We cannot say enough about how wonderful the entire experience was. We definitely recommend it to anyone thinking about staying here. We had split our trip up and stayed at a resort for the first half if the week, but once we got to White Picket Fence we all wished that we had booked the stay for longer. The accommodations were beautiful and very clean. Nosara is so quiet and welcoming, but also has some shops and restaurants so there's the perfect blend of solitude and entertainment. We were able to surf twice a day with the beach being so close. Alex was an absolutely amazing host and we would definitely come back. Stay here. You won't regret it.

Heaven on Earth
White Picket Fence was exactly what we needed. The apartment is perfect. We loved that the kitchen and the bedroom both open up onto the porch. We enjoyed making frozen beverages, lounging in the hammock, and taking taking refreshing dips in the pool. We utilized the owners surfboards and had a great lesson. The beach was a quick 5 minute walk away. Playa Guiones is quiet and clean. White Picket Fence surpassed our wishes.

White Picket Fence: Great Place to Stay!
We had the pleasure of staying in the upstairs apartment for a week and loved every minute of it!
The apartment is well equipped and clean! Lots of hot water, nice bathroom/bedroom area. Very comfortable!
Outdoor deck/kitchen area perfect! Loved relaxing on the deck in comfy chairs.
Great pool and proximity to the ocean!
If all of this wasn’t wonderful enough , Alex, Caroline and Patrick were so helpful and pleasant! I would highly recommend staying at The White Picket Fence.
Can’t wait to go back!

chill vibes and fun times
Alright so this was my fiancee's first time in Costa Rica, so I wanted
to make sure it was a place she would want to come back to. Nosara and white picket fence were the perfect choice. This was one of the coolest little trips I've ever gone on thanks to them. The house is set up just right - we had the upstairs and it looks just as good in real life as in photos. The AC works like a champ when you turn it on at night (we had temps ranging from 72 to 95 F) and the layout is really smart with a separated outdoor kitchen. You'll not find a jungle without bugs, but this came pretty close(!). Alex was on point with anything we needed to get the most out of our quick little (5 night) adventure. Boards, an atv (we got tired of walking with boards and cooler plus beach gear - plus we wanted to visit beaches and restaurants down the road. My fiancee nicknamed our quad "the road hippo" because it would eat up anything the path threw its way), dinner ideas, etc - Alex also found a tuk tuk to take us to the Nosara airport last minute (we were improvising our travel to and fro - basically just showed up in San Jose and winged it to get to Nosara). The pacific delivered the waves and Nosara had the eats! Show up, get a quad, strap a cooler to it, and find a hut on the beach were the world class surf beckons. What could possibly be better? Time to go back already.

We loved the White Picket Fence VRBO
My wife and I stayed 3 nights, accommodations were great, Caroline and Patrick where helpful and just really genuin people. Can't thank them enough for their hospitality. Surfing was perfect, with an easy walk to the beach and a good selection of rental boards. Highly recommend and look forward to returning to stay at the White Picket Fence.

Perfect place to relax
My wife and I stayed in the upper unit for ten days over the Christmas holiday. We had previously been to Costa Rica once and absolutely loved it believing we couldn't top that trip. We were wrong--this trip was even better. Playa Guiones is a terrific place for people who want a slower paced and relaxing vacation.
White Picket Fence is a lovely place and is perfectly located. The beach is a short walk, as is the grocery store and many good restaurants. The owners (Alex, Alice, Caroline, and Patrick) are very friendly and hospitable. I particularly appreciated their flexibility when we needed to rent a quad from them (our car reservation at the airport fell through) or surfboards.
This is a terrific place to relax and sit by the pool (or in the balcony hammock) when you aren't out surfing or on some adventure.
About the host
Hosted by Brayan Briones
We're surfers and travelers who have made Nosara our 2nd home for more than 10 years.
Why they chose this property
After traveling back and forth to Nosara for years, it was time to make a commitment! White Picket Fence was built in 1998, and we're excited to share this hidden gem.
What makes this property unique
Want to wake up hidden in the jungle but still only be a 2-minute walk to the beach? You've found your spot! There's nothing better than bird watching from the balcony and swinging in the hammock with a cup of Costa Rican coffee. Then grab your board for a surf or take a quad tour through the mountains to see the farmlands and rolling hills. But we should warn you - you probably won't want to leave.
