About this property

Charming farmhouse with stunning views on the Luberon mountains

You can't help but fall in love with Le Mas des Anges! An ideal place for 2 families or larger groups, Le Mas des Anges is a beautifully restored Provencal farmhouse in the heart of the Luberon. It has a very large garden, a beautiful pool and the most stunning views across the Luberon mountains. Ideally located amongst the lavender, olive groves and vineyards, and yet only 5 minutes from both the gorgeous hilltop village of Saignon and the charming town of Apt with its famous market and all amenities. The famous villages of Bonnieux, Gordes, Menerbes, and Roussillon are all within 10 to 20 minutes drive. Colorado de Rustrel is at a walking distance. You will be spoilt for choices of places to wine and dine, and for the more active there's lots to do.
The house itself is very spacious and full of charm with original terracotta floors, stone walls, beamed ceilings and very tasteful decoration. The outdoor space is fantastic (lots of shade and lots of sun!) with great views and a choice of al fresco dining (and napping!). Heated swimming pool (9x4m). Wifi available in the house.

Great spot for families with older kids
Mad des anges is set in a picturesque and convenient location driving distance to Apt. Wonderful pool and kitchen area, with countryside feel. Our family of 8 enjoyed the stay, though the stairs can make it tough for young toddlers and elders.

Great time!
We spent one week at Mas des Anges and had a very pleasant stay. We were warmly welcome by Tessa and the fittings/equipments of the house were totally fit for two families. We enjoyed the beautiful view and had a wonderful time visiting the region.

Wonderful property in a beautiful area!
We stayed in the house for a week, a family of 11, while traveling throughout the Provence region. The great location near Apt allowed us to enjoy the town's wide range of shops and food options, especially the Saturday morning market. A five minute drive from the Villa. Many other beautiful villages and vineyards are short drives away. The large kitchen and big family table allowed us to cook large meals for the whole family and sit together for dinners, after which we enjoyed sitting in the cozy living room, filled with fun toys for children, and lighting up the fireplace. We came in September so it was a bit too chilly to enjoy the pool, but that didn't stop the children from jumping in several times. Two of the five bedrooms were perfect for couples as they had couple sized beds, In the other rooms we just connected the two single beds for the couples who stayed in them. We especially enjoyed the bath in the master bedroom. Highly recommended for families and groups who want to enjoy the peace and quite of the region, with many fun things to do and see nearby.

Great property for a family gathering.
This is a lovely property with great views in a beautiful area. Confusingly, the property is not very close to the pretty village of Saignon which is about 7 mins drive away, but is in fact closer to Apt. Situated high on a ridge it has the benefit of whatever cooling breeze is available in the very hot 35 deg + weather when we were there. The super pool and spacious garden with lots of shade is ideal for children and family games. The property is nicely furnished and very well equipped. The master bedroom suite is divine, the other bedrooms are smaller but perfectly adequate and the separation into two bedroom areas provides good privacy for two families. The house was a joy to stay in and a wonderful setting for an important family celebration.

A great find, full of charm!
We spent a week right at the beginning of June in this gorgeous house with my husband, 3 children aged 1, 3 and 5 and my parents in law. Right from the moment we arrived, we knew we'd made the right decision in choosing this place: we entered the gorgeous kitchen/living area and a few bottles of wine were waiting for us on the beautiful table with a welcome note from the owners. The whole house is very nicely decorated, with a lot of personal touches. The garden and pool are superb, with fantastic views. The place is very private and quiet, yet it doesn't feel isolated. The surrounding area is fantastic too (we knew it from a previous holiday in the area). A few minutes drive into Apt or Saignon for food shopping or cafe life is all we managed this time: we didn't want to leave the house all week! Thank you!!

Gorgeous villa in gorgeous location
Thank you for your gorgeous villa! We had a truly fantastic week and were all very sad to leave. Your villa is fabulous. Such a beautiful part of the world and your villa is in such a splendid spot with such fabulous views. We think you have decorated and keep the villa wonderfully. We have stayed at a number of lovely villas over the years but none have been as comfortable or as welcoming as yours. The welcome gifts were a gorgeous touch and all the little extras in the villa that we werent expecting make all the difference. Just things like ipod docking station, the herbs and spices, oils that are left ( we have been at some villas where the cleaner obviously removes all leftovers so every new guest has to buy these basic items when they arrive which seems a waste) ample crockery, travelcot and highchair, the keyboard, table football, heated pool. It was all wonderful! And we loved the bbq/fire. We had some fantastic evenings sitting outside with the BBQ. Theres also so much to do in the area... We really should have stayed a month..which we'd have loved to do!

A week in Paradise indeed!
We have had a wonderful week in this beautiful house. So comfortable and nicely decorated - love the terrace for eating outside. Loved the secluded garden and pool. Very nice owners and housekeeper too. We have rented many houses in France and this is really is one of the best. Loved the local villages as well.

Just about perfect
We had a lovely holiday in your beautiful house. The weather was exceptional for the season. Everything was just about perfect and Pascal, the housekeeper, was very pleasant and helpful. Our teenage boys really enjoyed the (heated!!) pool and table tennis - the only thing they missed was the internet! There are plenty of things to see and do in the area - we loved all the small hill-top villages, the towns of Aix-en-Provence and Isle sur la Sorgue and the ochre hills around Roussillon. For market lovers the Saturday morning market in nearby Apt is a must - it´s amazing! We have rented several properties in southern France before and this was one of the best - clean, tastefully decorated, good facilities, well positioned and well-managed.

Even better second time around!
This was our second stay (we rarely go back to the same place twice, but this was one of the best places we've ever rented out, so we decided to come back!) I'd say it's even better: the house now feels even bigger with a beautiful new entrance hall linking the two parts of the house. We had a great time with the kids: canoeing, tree climbing/zip wiring and walks. Would definitely recommend it. I can feel a return visit coming on!

Just what we wanted
A wonderful relaxing week for our three generations family re-union with relations coming from New Zealand and the U.K. and covering ages from 6 months to 77 years. A beautiful and welcoming farmhouse with excellent amenities in the house and grounds. There was plenty of space for us to be together when we chose, but also to do our own thing without being on top of each other. We all thoroughly enjoyed the surroundings together with plenty of barbeques, wine and sun. Home from home, plus, plus. Very helpful owner with good information when booking.

Mas des Anges
We had a sublime week and came back so relaxed. Your house is beautiful in every way and has even inspired us to do a few things in our own home that we had planned to do but never got round to. We will need to go back as there is still loads we would like to see in the area. Somehow when the kids are so happy staying at the house and using the pool it takes a lot of effort to pile them all in the car to go visiting places!! The Luberon is truly beautiful and the villages have so much character. And we need to mention the beds! They were so comfortable. Bad beds can really ruin a holiday and both families had poor beds at the houses we rented (seperately) for our first week in the Ardeche so yours were much appreciated.

Fabulous house in a stunning location
This beautiful house is in a wonderful, unspoilt area with delightful villages and countryside all around. The house itself was perfect for our family visit. It is very comfortable with all the high quality facilities you would want for a family holiday but manages to combine this with such charm. The attention to detail is very high and the finish is very faithful to the typical style of the area. The bedrooms and bathrooms are all very comfortable with lovely touches and the living space is extremely generous. The large sitting room has big comfy sofas and a gorgeous fireplace which makes an out of season visit very tempting. The dining table (and indeed the outside table) easily accommodates a large crowd and we enjoyed lingering meals of delicious local food and wine, including the amazing figs from the tree in the garden! The views from the garden are stunning and the swimming pool was very clean and well heated which is just what you need for children. There is plenty of outside space for children to play and ample parking if several families are visiting. Whilst the local villages are definitely worth a visit and offer great choice of places to enjoy a great meal, the house and garden are so quiet and relaxing that you wouldn't need to go out at all!

Relaxing base for a wonderful family holiday
We had a lovely, relaxing week in Provence in July 2010, staying at Le Mas Des Anges. It was the first time we'd visited Provence and I must say that the area - and the accommodation - was absolutely superb in every way. The farmhouse is a real treat - you feel like you're off the beaten track, when in fact you're very close to the market town of Apt. I can only describe the views from the farmhouse as absolutely stunning. There is plenty of outdoor space for the children to roam around in, and there was a very nice pool for them to cool off in! It is very quiet and there are some lovely walks from the farmhouse, and lots of activities close by for the children. The farmhouse is very spacious. We visited with another family and we didn't feel crowded - quite nice actually as it meant we could spend a bit of quiet time with our children, then get together with our friends for meals. The furnishing in the farmhouse is lovely, there is a huge traditional kitchen area with all the facilities you would expect, and there is plenty of living space for dining and relaxing. The owners have also taken care with the details - the quality of the finish, fixtures and fittings in the farmhouse was excellent, far better than other self catering accommodation we have stayed in around Europe. We had most of our meals at the farmhouse (there's a well-stocked supermarket in nearby Apt), but we also ventured out a few times for meals. I won't recommend anywhere as you'll be spoilt for choice and I think it's nicer to discover them yourself! The farmhouse was a very good base to explore the area by car. There are little villages dotted all around - Saignon is lovely and a very short drive away (amazing fresh bread and croissants!), and we really enjoyed our trip to Gordes, which is a stunning hillside town about 15 minutes away. We also visited the ancient city of Avignon, which is well worth a look. When we booked the holiday I was a bit worried about the travelling with the children, but it worked out fine - we flew in to Nimes and it was a straightforward and direct drive to Apt. We could have flown to Marsellie which I think is a bit closer, and in future we may consider Eurostar from London to Avignon. In summary we had an absolutely wonderful and relaxing family holiday. The Luberon area is beautiful and I think we will be hard pressed to find a better base than Le Mas Des Agnes (we've already booked for 2011!).

Hidden gem!
We’ve stayed at this lovely farmhouse on two memorable occasions - firstly, a summer break in June 2009, secondly in February 2010, to celebrate our wedding anniversary and for winter walks, and will most likely spend a few days there this year. The farmhouse really is a hidden gem. Set in a tranquil location, it has wonderful views of the Luberon Mountains across the valley, yet is just a few minutes drive to the small towns of Saignon and Apt, with lots of shops, restaurants, and a bustling market. Avignon airport is less than an hour’s drive - Marseilles and Nimes airports, under two hours. The farmhouse is set in a lovely large garden with lots of trees to sit under for shade, to either quietly read a book, or to keep an eye on children playing in and around the heated pool. The spacious accommodation is very well appointed, tastefully furnished, and well managed. In the unlikely event of any difficulties, the owner - who is French and speaks excellent English - is just at the end of the phone. In the winter we were glad of the central heating, and to be able to settle down in front of the log fire in the large but cosy lounge. The ‘two house’ concept works well, and meets the needs of groups or families who may wish to go to bed and rise at different times. The kitchen/diner and the lounge are spacious, so even quite large groups won’t be bumping into each other! The location is an ideal base for visiting all the quaint and picturesque sights for which Provence is so famous - Rousillon, Bonnieux, Gordes, Lourmarin, L’Isle Sur la-Sorgue and so on. Slightly further afield, but within easy distance, are Avignon, St-Remy-de-Provence, Arles, and Aix en Provence. We especially like the large market at Forcalquier on Mondays - a delightful drive along the quiet tree-lined N100, and we enjoyed our summer and winter walks in the picturesque Provencal ‘Colorado’, with its astonishing colourful ochre quarries. In summertime, the lavender fields are a sight to behold. In short, Le Mas des Anges has something for everyone!

Great home base for discovering Provence
We were very pleased with Le Mas des Anges. Several adult couples shared the house and used it as a base for sightseeing the villages of Provence. The house accommodated 3 couples and 2 singles in separate rooms. Plenty of room to park several cars. The kitchen / dining area is spacious and well equiped for cooking and enjoying the wonderful food from the local markets. The pictures and descriptions of the property are very accurate. It is a beautiful house and property with a wonderful view. If/when we return to Provence, we would stay here again.

Best Holidays in Luberon at Le Mas des Anges!
I spent one week in July 2010 in Le Mas des Anges and this was the best week I ever had in Provence! The house is a traditional "provençal" farmhouse, very well decorated and has amazing views. I was there with my family (10 people, adults and children) and there was plenty of space for everybody. I appreciated the modern facilities in this very well fitted out traditional farmhouse which, by experience, is not a given in France for this type of building... The place is very quiet and the (heated) swimming pool's awesome! I recommend this house for everyone who'd like to spend relaxing holidays, but with lots of things to do in the area if you want to!

WONDERFUL HOLIDAYS IN PROVENCE !
We spent wonderful holidays in Provence ! The house is perfect for just "lazying on a sunny afternoon", with its big garden facing the Provence landscape, with nobody around ! The children enjoyed the swimming pool. The location of Saignon was just perfect to allow us to visit the nice little Provence villages around: Gordes, Roussillon, Lourmarin etc. Almost everyday we visited a different place - at only 15 or 20 mn from the house, by car. I recommend this place for anyone wishing to enjoy Provence far from the crowds of tourists, in a very authentic spot, where few postcards or icecream sellers can be found...

Highly recommended!
We have just returned from a 2 week holiday at Mas des Anges and I have to say that I cannot recommend it highly enough! Going on holiday with 3 small children (ages, 6, 3 & 14mths) is hard work but our choice of accommodation thankfully made our 2 weeks away utterly enjoyable. The house was equipt with everything we could possibly require and the large open-plan living area along with the huge garden kept the children entertained with plenty of space to explore. The surrounding countryside is beautiful with so many breathtakingly beautiful villages within a 30min drive. I would hightly recommend a visit to both Gordes and Lour Marin. The daily markets were excellent, and the shops were to die for - one piece of advice for those who like shopping; bring an empty suitcase! I would highly recommend this property to anyone thinking of holidaying in Provence; the customer service we received from our initial enquiry to Anne-Marie right through to the housekeepers at the house itself was excellent. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.
