The place, more than a stay, it is an experience. The property is decorated as a small museum dedicated to Schlatter. Alessandra the host, is Schlatter’s grand-grand daughter. She is absolutely kind and nice and she was able to show us all the property. It is a very comfortable place to stay, close to good restaurants, grocery stores and a few steps to the bus station to get busses to go to Florence places. We recommend this place .
We were thrilled and grateful to spend our days in this lovely property! The owner was a wonderful host; very responsive, considerate and understanding! The artwork is beautiful, evocative and romantic. The kitchen was well stocked with unique dishes and plenty of options. The bathrooms were extremely clean and in good working order. There is one bathroom for each bedroom (which I didn’t think was clear enough in the property description?) The beds are firm and of good quality with professionally cleaned sheets and towels This was ideal for the three couples. The community space is large, wide open with comfortable sitting for 6 or more. We loved the neighborhood! The buses to the city are plentiful with the 17 only a block away. Walking to the city was very possible in 25 min or more. Getting a taxi was fairly easy and costs approx 20 euro to the city train or 30-40 euro to the airport. I would highly recommend staying at this unique property!
Only one consideration is that the twin beds in the loft of the blue room are accessible by a spiral staircase that was quite challenging to our 60 year old guests. Luckily, the king bed can be made as two twins instead so that a brother/ sister team could sleep comfortably (the room appears coral or pink in the photos) The other two beds were queens ( by American standards)
We enjoyed restaurants in this area and having the grocery store and hardware store just across the street. So very convenient!
We stayed as a family of 6 in August 2024 for 14 days and loved it - 6 adult couples, each taking a room. The house is spectacular and actually looks bigger than the photos. The host was brilliant, communicated with us well, met us when we arrived with a bowl of fresh melon and advised us where to go for food, buses etc. the rooms are gorgeous and the art work on the walls breathtaking. Beautiful rooms with gorgeous furniture. Very comfortable and very clean with everything we needed. Location perfect with a community pool close by and bus right outside for a 15 min into the town. Also bus close by to go up into the hills and the most fantastic ice cream (gelato) shop close by. We all loved and would come again.
Wow, what a terrific place to stay in Florence. Great spot in a quiet neighborhood in the city. Our hostess was thoughtful, easy to reach, and responsive.
We loved relaxing in the great room.
We took the bus to to see the various attractions. So east.
We loved our stay in this amazing home. The communication from Alessandra was very good from the beginning. It was comfortable the 3 adult couples that stayed here. There are many great restaurants and cafes very close by and the grocery store is just a few steps across the street. It is a little bit of a walk to get into older Florence and the bus stop is right out front which made it easy to get to the sites there. The artwork is so beautiful in this home. We all enjoyed our stay in this wonderful museum. Grazie Mille.
We so enjoyed our stay at Casa Schlatter. Alessondra was a great host, happy to provide us with info and recommendations. We would stay in this lovely location again and again and be completelly satisfied. An historic treasure in a stunning neighborhood!
What's not to love about this spacious, pristine home filled with art and all the amenities we needed. We appreciated the space, light, and outdoor area as well as the distance away from major tourism. Plus, our host was gracious, helpful, and responsive to any inquiry we had. Simply the best! Highly recommended.
Lovely space with plenty of room to spread out. The artwork is fabulous. Host is a great communicator. Conveniently located by a bus stop to make travel easy. The soccer stadium is nearby so if you are a soccer fan be sure to get tickets to a match. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and will definitely return the next time we visit Florence.
Alessandra‘s house is unique in every way, and we enjoyed both the house, wonderful paintings and atmosphere. The location is within an easy bus trip or good walk to the centre of Florence.
There are many valuable items in the house, so extra care is required if you are staying with younger family members.
We throughly enjoyed our three week stay at Casa Schlatter. It had been a dream to live in Florence and we found the perfect home. Allesandra was lovely and very helpful. The home is large and quite comfortable for us and our guests that rotated in. We were able to pay an extra 50 euro for cleaning service during our stay. Linens are changed weekly. There are mosquitoes in Florence, so beware to those to whom they find tasty. The yard was a nice oasis away from the bustle of the city. We enjoyed viewing the paintings of Carlos Schlatter and noted the nuances as day turned to dusk. Transit is so easy with the bus a short walk away (get tickets at the magazine stand). Campo di Marte train station is close too for day trips to Rome, Pisa, Venice or wherever you want to wander. The #7 bus also goes to Fiesole, which has Roman ruins. Florence is an enchanting city where we listened to opera under the stars surrounded by the works of the masters in Piazza della signoria. C’è’ sempre Italia!
Alessandra was a fantastic host for the wonderful property.
Her communication throughout was top class and I would highly recommend this truly unique property to anyone visiting Florence.
We were a group of 6 women. Beautiful, comfortable house to stay. Short walk to restaurants and the best gelato. 15 minute easy bus ride to the center of Florence. Alessandra is very helpful and provided everything we needed. I Highly recommend this for a group of friends or family visiting Florence
Well-presented property with smaller kitchen, but with every type of cooking utensil one would need. We cooked full meals here and had a small grocery store steps away to get our staples. Also, we discovered by accident that we are only blocks away from the football stadium, in case you can get tickets! The property has huge ceilings and you feel comfortable with the space. We highly recommend staying here.
The property was bought and designed to hold paintings by a Swiss painter called Carlo Adolfo Schlatter (1873 - 1958.) It houses some of his larger works, and as such, is a very interesting place to stay. It is a museum to his artistic skills, which makes it unique in its attraction. Currently, it is being used for people to stay in (and perhaps a museum at times) and has bathrooms to accommodate 3 couples (although it can cater for eight, if you include 2 children.)
It is on the outskirts of Florence, and a walk to the centre is about 30 minutes if you don’t have any problems in walking. A bus stop is near by (€1.50 for 90 minutes, wherever you want to go.)
It’s different to anywhere we have stayed before in Florence.
If you like the unusual, them you might like this.
After a very warm welcome and clear explanations on the house, we have enjoyed the 3 rooms (each one with a very clean bathroom, comfortable bed and pillow). We have been able to prepare good food in the kitchen containing everything you need to entertain a small group of 5. The grocery almost next door and the gelateria a corner away were everything we needed in this quiet neighborhood. Florence historic center was easy walk of 25-30 minutes. The garden, entry and house were full of nice flowers, the walls with paintings, very relaxing environnement. I recommend this place and would return anytime. Grazie!
What a wonderful place to stay. My mother, mother-in-law, and I had the best experience. Alessandra was a pleasant and knowledgeable host. The place was very clean and well-stocked. The location was great, and we visited the market across the street often. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing Italian getaway.
We enjoyed our stay in the neighborhood outside the center of Florence. Easy taxi ride to the center of Florence. Great restaurants in area. House had room to be together. Art work thru out is a wonderful addition property owner helpful and available if needed.
Very clean, convenient to groceries, restaurants and the walk to the city center was about 25 minutes. Allesandra was very responsive and even offered to drive our luggage to the nearby train station, due to a large set of steps and a bridge. But we were finally able to get a taxi. There is a lovely courtyard to sit and enjoy being with family and friends. Do not hesitate to stay here!!!
Casa Schlatter is a really beautiful property and its age and history seemed so appropriate for a stay in the beautiful historical city of Florence. Alessandra was very helpful before and during the trip and I even had a WhatsApp chat with her before we arrived. As a small group of friends (3) we enjoyed a bedroom and bathroom each which was a luxury but the accommodations would easily suit three couples. It is quite far out of the city but well served by buses which can be accessed almost outside the door. We had no trouble at all and Badiani Pasticceria became a daily pilgrimage! Thank you Alessandra. We loved our trip.
Art, History, Architecture, Location, and Comfort!
What a lovely place to stay in Florence! Our hostess, Alessandra was a joy to work with. Her family home and her great grandfather’s art work on exhibit throughout the home, was like living in a museum, if the museum was cozy, warm and welcoming. The location was great with a 30 minute walk to the duomo and even better, only 5 minutes to the best gelato we have ever had. We would stay here again if ever in Milan again.

Filmés dans le logement ....
Nous sommes très en colère car filmés durant tout le séjour.
Alessandra, the host, was so welcoming and easy to communicate and work with. The apartment is beautifully decorated with her great grandfather's paintings and timeless antiques. It was also clean and comfortable, perfect for the six adult members of our family. There is a supermarket across the street, several restaurants within walking distance and a wonderful gelato shop just down the street. It is an easy walk or bus ride to the central, historic part of Florence. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect place to stay. Thank you Alessandra.
