Built in 1916, this fantastic house was owned by the Reed family. Sitting front and center on Beulah Reed Road -- named after the wife in the family -- you'll find the Reed family mentioned throughout Oregon. After deeding a sizable land grant which would become part of Oswald West State Park, the Hwy 101 bridge connecting the park to the highway on Neahkahnie mountain is named after the Reed family. Cousins were founding members of Reed College. The family was very involved with work involving the Portland Art Museum and were part of a thriving arts community in the Neahkahnie community.

This wonderful gem of a house was updated in 2014 to it's original glory with modern conveniences to take advantage of the stellar location -- wide swaths of windows to frame unparelled views; restorations of original finishes, new updated kitchen honoring the gracefulness of the house yet with all the modern conveniences you would want in a big cooks kitchen includig an island seating 4, a big great room with original stone fireplace, 180º views and dining area for 14, entertainment and media room, pool table room, ping pong area, beds and bathrooms galore, a third HD TV area and small library, Last but not least, enjoy the huge deck spanning the front of the house and along the side of the house covering a full lot. Nestled into the side yard is your own private fire pit to gather round and roast S'mores or quiet conversation around a fire with a glass of your favorite beverage.

Your master suite awaits with luxurious king bed, a private sitting room area overlooking the ocean and private cozy bathroom with high end Pratt & Larson tile and Waterworks fixtures, encased in marble floors featuring in floor heating.

Bedroom 2 on the second floor is also a king bedroom with generous walk-in closet. Bathroom 2 on the second floor features marble tile with in-floor heating, vintage tub and fixtures, and spacious storage.

Bedrooms 3 and 4 on the third floor are nestled under a high peaked celing, queen beds and ocean views. Bedroom 5 on the third floor features two built in queen beds tucked under the dormer eves and a big dormer ocean view window and window seat.

Bathrooms 3 and 4 are also on the third floor. Each tucked under the eves with high, sloping ceilings, these quaint bathrooms house a claw foot tub and big shower, respectively, and vintage fixtures. Heated marble floors round off the experience.

Bedrooms 6 and 7 are on the first floor and each house two sets of twin bunk beds suited for youth or adults, in addition to lots of storage. Bathroom 5 is also on the first floor with double sinks, luxurious Hansgrohe Rainshower, and heated floors.

Charm, comfort, modern conveniences, not to mention huge views and wonderful location. This house is perfect for large groups of up to 20 guests, or smallr, more intimate getaways. Check with us for more details regarding your woderful, relaxing coast vacation.

Manzanita sunshine!

We love this property! Plenty of space for everyone to relax in their own way AND spaces that accommodate large groups together. The house has everything you need to cook and relax onsite. The beach is gorgeous and the surrounding atmosphere of a small town refreshing!

My wife’s 50th birthday party

It was a beautiful old house that has had a very thoughtful and warm and inviting remodel. All of us were super pleased with the place and location. Very comfortable and fun and relaxing. Will definitely keep it on the short list for future beach gatherings.

Wonderful Week

Our entire extended family (15) stayed at the Reed home this last week. House was well located next to the beach. Also, in easy driving distance to Tillamook (Ice Cream), Seaside, Cannon Beach and Astoria. Experienced multiple great hikes. Had some southern California hikers and they were impressed. Would recommend this property. Two of our group were architects and they were very interested in the redo of this historic home.

The photos don't do it justice!

This house pretty much has it all! Great layout and amenities- the open concept kitchen was so fun to cook in. The mix of vintage and modern is really fun. It was fantastic for a larger group and would even be good for corporate gatherings. The bunk rooms look perfect for kids but less so for an all adult crew (which we were). The neighborhood is lovely but it's a bit of a walk to town. And a hot tub would make it perfect! Highly recommend! But be on the look out for undisclosed fees from VRBO!

Amazing beach front house!

Going into this house with nearly 20 people to accommodate, I was sure it would get cramped really quickly, but I was wrong! This house is so spacious, comfortable, clean and beautifully decorated. The bathrooms were huge and roomy for a family to bathe multiple children. Beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was amazing, with plenty of counter space, appliances, and storage. We really didn't find we needed anything that wasn't supplied. We had children of all ages in the house, and felt it was pretty child proof (minus the stairs, but what stairs are). On day 5, I did not want to leave! I can't wait to go back, soon hopefully!

wonderful place for a big group

The house was fantastic - plenty of room for a big family group and all very comfortable. Pool, ping pong table, big room and screen for video watching, fire pit - all fantastic. Beach access amazing and star gazing on the big deck was excellent. Comfie areas to hang out and big dining table that fit everyone. My only issue was that after reading all the information and then signing a multi-page rental agreement, it was not until the day before our arrival that I received notice that we could only have 1 dog stay at the house. It was just lucky that the two other dogs that I thought were going to be with us stayed at home that weekend. Kind of late notice to impart that kind of information for a house advertised as "dog friendly." But other than the potential dog issue, it was a great weekend.

A wonderful home for a family reunion

We had a family reunion celebrating my folks 90th birthdays and everyone had a wonderful time. There were 20 of us of all ages. The home was very clean, plenty of room and met most all our needs. The kitchen is well stocked, furniture and beds comfy. The major problem was the shower on the lower floor which we could not get any cold water. Also both sinks in that bathroom were slow to drain. The landscapers had left a pile of debris in the parking area, making it difficult to park. The upper door is definitely hard to lock and unlock, which was in the welcome packet. But all in all, we loved the home, and recommend it.

Wow, wow and more WOW!!!

Perfection! This lovely home was perfect in every way for our family gathering! Every couple had their own space, we loved the gathering area and TV room. This was by far the best stocked kitchen I’ve ever seen! Now we just need to come back during the summer! (Although we had perfect weather for our time considering it was November!) Thank you!

Great facility for large family gathering.

We had nine adults and six kids and all had plenty of space. This is a well-equipped facility. The sunsets were great as was the fire pit on cool evenings. The easy access to the beach provided many opportunities for games and walks by the ocean.

Perfect!

The Reed home is dialed! We celebrated my husband's birthday with friends and family over a weekend in February, and although he weather didn't allow for much outdoor time we never noticed that we were missing anything. The kitchen is very well stocked, the amenities such as the pool table and ping pong table were a hit. Everything from the beds/ bed linens, well stocked kitchen, the view, the lay out of the seating, all of the puzzles and activities to enjoy in the home lent to a perfect weekend. The hosts answered our questions promptly and the check in/check out was smooth and hassle free. Thank you so much for a perfect weekend!!

Perfect Beach House

This house is perfect for a large familygathering or a business retreat. As a former hotelier, I appreciated the cleanliness of the property, it was exceptionally well kept. The privacy afforded by the large common areas as well as the location of the bedrooms and bathrooms was perfect. The outdoor fire pit area couldn't be used during our stay due to typical January Oregon weather, but the fireplace in the living room is exceptional. Large and beautifully created, it brings such warmth throughout the living and dining room. When we were there, there was a great "pay and go" firewood option across from the green medical building on the main road on the way to the house. They had kindling too! Kim is an excellent host, very responsive and helpful. The ping pong table and pool tables were both well used during our stay. We didn't watch the big screen TV, there was too much else to keep us occupied. Lastly, the kitchen is very well stocked with all of the cooking accoutrements that you will need; we so appreciated that as our gathering was during a covid outbreak that precluded our group going out to eat. We comfortably cooked for a group of 12 and the dining table extended to accommodate our number.

Magical family birthday celebration ❤️

Our six children and their spouses gathered together to celebrate Papa’s 74th birthday ‼️We had a home in Manzanita for over 30 years, many beautiful memories of this beach town ‼️Finding the Reed Home was a true gift as we were all able to be in one home‼️The accommodations could not have been more perfect for all of us…each couple had their own room and bath, the separation of spaces in the great room was ideal for multiple conversations ‼️The kitchen is beautifully equipped and the center island served as a wonderful gathering spot for cocktails & appetizers…having two dish washers was the best‼️We will definitely make this our annual gathering place‼️ Peggy Albertini

Great house for large Families!

This house was one of the best I've ever rented. We had 9 adults and 8 of kids staying, but it never felt crowded. The views were beautiful and all of the rooms were so well put together. Great job to the owners on the remodel - they stayed true to the era of the home as much as they could and it turned out amazing. We will definitely be staying here again!

Great stay!

We had 18 adults and children that stayed for 6 days. There was plenty of room for us all the gather and have a place to get away if needed, but the house is not soundproof. You can hear people walking up and down the stairs. We absolutely loved the house and amenities. The kitchen is well stocked with all types of cookware, dishes, bowls, and containers. The two refrigerators were great. All the beds were comfortable and everything was well supplied. The location is great with the beach just across the road, and we enjoyed the deck and fire pit. We would love to return someday.

I'm Kim Bergstrom. My husband, Eric Bergstrom, have built on my father's dream of owning a beachfront house on the Oregon Coast. We now own three, and much to my husband's dismay we continue to grow. We purchased our family beach house from my father in 1996, and have thrived through sweat equity - most people think of us as rather crazy, but we've taken something we love to do and are making it our second chapter in life.

We enjoy taking properties with potential and great location, adding a facelift without removing the character, and introducing them to our expanding group of guests. Our latest endeavor is a turn of the century three story house which will sleep 20. We put a lot of thought and work into each house, and luckily have found guests who love the results. Like many of our guests we've come to know over the years, we hope you also come to think of this special house as your very own vacation home - without all the work!

Why they chose this property

This house was a true labor of love. Our regular construction guys gave us the side-eye and the big thumbs down. The work required was immense. Well, you'd be sagging too if you were 100 years old! Face lifts (lifting saggy beams), new plumbing and wiring, insulating where there once was none, saving all the old wood features from construction guys used to ripping out and throwing away.

The reward comes when the finish is buffed, polished, and ready for our guests. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience! We hope you enjoy - we've already had great feedback from our regular guests who have stopped by to take a look, and long time guests of the original owners, who have already booked their vacation. We hope you enjoy it, too!

What makes this property unique

Savor this rare opportunity to experience your next vacation at the Historic Reed House, one of the original turn-of-the-century cottages on Manzantia Beach. While the original charm remains, the Reed House has been updated with 21st century comforta
