This location is perfect. It's in a historic area with beautiful houses all around. It's a stone's throw from the Riverwalk. Great restaurants are nearby, and there's a pool outside your door. The unit itself has loads of charm and really should be an easy 5 star reservation. I can overlook a lot of shortcomings, but this unit had far too many things wrong with it to garner 5 stars:
- for a 1 week stay, we were given 2 bath towels. Two. For 2 adults taking a daily shower, this is woefully inadequate
-the outside furniture was filthy. There was no way to use it without a bucket of soapy water and a sponge
-outlets in the bedroom were pulled out of the wall and appliances in the kitchen were powered by an extension cord. I can't believe this would pass any kind of electrical inspection
-dishes, silverware and cookware were definitely garage sale castoffs, with few pieces matching and the absolute cheapest aluminum pots & pans I've seen in a rental unit
-there were very few amenities provided in the kitchen, so we invested in lots of simple things like spices, foil, etc. all for a 1 week stay. A note offering small coffee packets (at an additional cost), was in the cupboard. This just isn't done anywhere else I've ever stayed.
-in the same fashion, a tiny bottle of shampoo and conditioner was in the bathroom, with a note saying if more was needed, it would come at an additional charge. I didn't need shampoo- I brought my own- but that was so petty. It lacked the general feeling of hospitality I've grown accustomed to, when renting units
-the kitchen cabinets are in desperate need of an update and the aerator on the kitchen faucet sprayed water everywhere
-the bedroom comforter and pillow shams, (which are white)- showed clear signs of dirt and wear. They really needed to be washed
-parking for the unit is across the street at the larger Inn, despite there being plenty of parking next to the carriage house. The triple garage, 3 spots in front of the garage, and 3 spots next to the house, were all reserved for the owner. It was strange to make your guests, carrying luggage, groceries, etc. walk across the street to park.
So if you can overlook these shortcomings, you'll have a great stay. San Antonio is a beautiful city and there's tons to see and do. The gal that checked us out, was apologetic when I told her about the maintenance issues & she agreed the unit was long overdue for an update. She was the nicest person we encountered at the rental
