Great house for a family

This place was fantastic, if a bit dated and far out of town. While it’s marketed as in town, it’s a solid 20 minute walk to the port. With bikes, it’s simple. That being said, the house is spacious and the kids loved running around in the backyard.

Incredible Value!

One of the best value vacation rentals I’ve stayed in. Convenient location <1mi from town, beautiful and quiet neighborhood, and excellent accommodations for three couples with an accommodating host as well. Would definitely recommend.

Upsetting Rental

Pros: -fabulous backyard with lots of space, amazing for stargazing -spacious living area -the owner told us about a new AC window unit that we could use so we were able to install it to keep 1 of the bedrooms cool for my pregnant friend Cons: -front door lock did not work -coffee pot broken, had to purchase one on our own -stains on almost every linen, we had to wash all the bed linens and towels upon arrival in order to feel comfortable using them -unsanitary/not clean kitchen dishware -rusty, unsanitary refrigerator/freezer with broken drawers -stains on walls, furniture, ceiling, curtains, linens, floors -tons of bugs inside due to the window issues (see note below) -there's a small cottage in the backyard that we did not know about beforehand, it shares a driveway with the house and is literally in the backyard -one of the bedroom doors (room with bunk beds) was broken so it did not fully close -bathroom door would constantly pop open so we had to open a drawer to keep it closed -no closet in room with bunk beds, instead, the home has command hooks with hangers to use -a large piece of wood from the base of the house (outside) was missing, so there was a gaping hole leading to the foundation of the house Biggest complaints: -NO air conditioning - plenty of homes on the island don't have AC, but this was an issue for us because we couldn't use most of the windows to get fresh air/a breeze due to windows not staying open (we had to prop them open with other objects), rips in the window screens (we let in TONS of bugs by opening our windows) and windows without screens completely. we really wish we knew this in advance as our group had a pregnant women and several folks using the home during the daytime to work and it was insanely warm, it was very difficult to sleep on some of the warmer nights -listing claims to have 3 bathrooms but make a note: this is not 3 full baths - one of the bathrooms is an outdoor shower. the location of the outdoor shower does not provide full privacy and we had to either drape a towel over the top or shower with a swimsuit on because if folks were enjoying the deck while you showered, they could see you -listing does not accurately show the home's location. the map on VRBO shows this house as directly in town when in fact, it's a solid 20 minute walk to town. the "what's nearby" section is completely inaccurate -overall, the home is outdated and very dirty

Pefect location

Our family (6 adults) stayed here for our son's wedding at the White Elephant. The property was close enough to town to walk but quiet enough to enjoy mornings on the deck. The house was wonderful and Karen was always prompt with responses to questions. I highly recommend.

Great location, great host, house needs deep clean and lots of upgrades

Starting with the positives: Great location-nice walk to town, street is adorable Yards is great Karen the host was extremely responsive Cons: Everything in the house needs a good clean or upgrade. The furniture is white and has stains on it The walls/ceiling are all marked up One of the white bedspreads had a huge red wine stain on it when I arrived but I washed/bleached it myself and got it out Every picture on the wall is crooked almost to the point that we questioned if it was done that way on purpose The chandelier is propped up with a bent spoon The kitchen and bathrooms are older than the cute cottagey state that would be acceptable Lots of little things (outdoor chairs, porch step, bedroom mirror to name a few) are broken My son is a bit of a germaphobe and would not eat at the house bc he was generally grossed out. No AC or even window units The grill is charcoal. I have not reviewed to confirm if that was listed that way but that was also a let down. The cleaners came early before our check out time and we let them in to start. They were as nice as can be but finished the job in 45 minutes which we were surprised by. Overall, the house has potential. I am sure a little TLC and a deep clean it would make a huge difference.

Wonderful, quiet stay on Meadow Lane

We had a wonderful stay on Meadow Lane. Karen was extremely responsive throughout the rental process and we found the house exactly as advertised. A quaint, yet spacious, home at the end of a very quiet street with easy access to town and beaches by a short walk or bike ride. House was clean and in good shape. We were able to get virtually everywhere by bike, and the house was wonderful for our family of 4. Thanks for making our stay great, Karen!

Fabulous location and yard!

We had a lovely time at Karen's cottage in Nantucket! The house is nestled at the end of a quiet road surrounded by foliage. I came down with my husband and another couple --- we had plenty of space and thoroughly enjoyed spending time on the deck watching the bunnies hop around. The outdoor shower is fantastic as is the yard; we were kicking ourselves for not bringing our bocce set! I would recommend to both couples and families who would like to spend a relaxing time on Nantucket. We ended up bringing our car on island to travel around a bit, however if you could easily bike from town if needed. Hoping to do it again next year!

Made for a wonderful weekend.

House was cute, yard is wonderful, end of a quiet dead end street. Spacious living room perfect for family/friend games or lounging. Three queens, bunk beds, and a pullout. Highly recommend. Deck was amazing - I proposed there! Some added history to the house :)

Absolutely amazing! The backyard is spectacular!

The stay at Karen's house was absolutely amazing! From the bedrooms to the open concept kitchen to the living room, everything was perfect for our group of eight. The backyard and the deck were perfect and we were able to enjoy the outdoors in Nantucket on Memorial Day Weekend! Karen was also a great host and was able to answer questions quickly and was helpful throughout the entire process. Thanks again for hosting us! We are really looking forward to our time back at this house.

Very nice rental.

My sisters and niece had a great time in this spacious home with a wonderful private backyard. A quick bike ride to town and beaches. We did have some rainy weather, but just used Uber for rides to restaurants if needed.

A true home away from home!

My little boy and I had an unforgettable vacation in this peaceful haven. The serene surroundings in this neighborhood made us feel like we were coming home. The house was very spacious inside, and the outdoors was perfect for entertaining, sunbathing, playing ball, napping, etc...The sounds of nature greeted us every morning and we truly appreciated the serenity that being next to conservation land affords. We loved the ode to island history and local life that was incorporated in the decor of the home. It was also clean and well appointed. We come to Nantucket every year all the way from southern California. It surely has been a blessing to be able to find a true home away from home in this property, and look forward to our return to this peaceful haven.

One of our best weeks on ACK!

Our family of four with two young boys had a wonderful time on Nantucket at this home. We have rented all over the island and we loved this location, their yard and proximity to town and bike paths. We rode our bikes to different beaches each day and walked or cycled to town. Dinners on the deck while the boys ran around the yard created lots of wonderful memories. We hope to return soon!

Best family stay on Nantucket!

Our family has made a tradition of going to Stroll for many years. We have stayed at a few different properties and this home was by far the best accommodation we have ever had! Karen was a pleasure to deal with and the home is ideal for families. There is plenty of room for everyone to have their own space, the grounds and views are spectacular, and the house just feels like home!

Wonderful rental property on Nantucket

We brought our family to this rental on Meadow Lane in Nantucket. We've rented for over 10 years on Nantucket, and know the island well. This is our favorite rental for our family among the 7 or 8 different properties we've rented through the years. The property is close enough for walking to town easily. We rode bikes (Youngs Rental) for the week, but often walked in to town for dinner, shopping or evening strolls. The biking is very accessible for easy rides to the beach, town or favorite spots. We love the location of this property as it's "just right" for about everything: close to town for walking without being too close for noise or traffic; close to best beaches (Dionnis, Steps, Childrens, Surfside) without being too far out or too expensive for a waterfront rental; plenty of space for Nantucket evenings on the spacious porch with no close neighbors like many intown rentals we've had through the years. Appliances, linens, lobster pot (mandatory on Nantucket) were all super with no issues or concerns. The house has plenty of comfortable easy chairs both inside and out for our family with two teenagers. No issues with owners or transactions - we've occasionally encountered some difficult interactions with owners in other rentals through the years; but everything was smooth here (thanks VRBO!). The Blackberry bushes were in bloom during the week we rented - this was a special treat for ice cream in the evening and pancakes in the morning. Bottomline: we love this house for a family rental and plan to return with family or for a romantic getaway this fall - everything was perfect for our needs!

lovely, comfortable home-away-from-home

Calm, enjoyable indoors & outdoors. Special comfort features I liked: kitchen well supplied; handy laundry machines; outdoor shower: so nice after the beach! The house is so spacious, as is the front & back yards. I especially liked being able to walk to historic places, as well as the movie house, & eating places. A bus stops near enough to make the way "home" easy, if I get tired of walking.

Why they chose this property

Nantucket is a wonderful family place, great for gourmet food and peaceful vacations too. The waterfront and beach are amazing, and the people are welcoming and always interesting.

What makes this property unique

Quiet sunsets, private yard and patio. Close enough to town for walks, and yet far enough for privacy. We have had parties on the deck, crab races, and wonderful gatherings with friends. A great place for a weekend or reunion.
