About a mile north of the village of Longframlington, this is a delightful, peaceful and clean property , suitable for a single person or a couple. Suzanne was charming and met me on arrival. I enjoyed the quiet location and would highly recommend this property.

Besom Barns Cottage
Overall we had a lovely break away from it all. The location is quiet and peaceful. The cottage was extremely clean with super appliances and a lovely welcome pack of the most delicious coffee, Yorkshire tea and freshly laid eggs from the resident hens!he bed was very comfortable. The view from the kitchen window is superb. Our only disappointment was the lack of outside area attached to the property. An outside seating area would have been the icing on the cake!

Weekend in Northumberland
We booked this cottage as we had to take our dog but thought it had an enclosed garden but had to go out to the side of the property to access the small enclosed area for the dog . Property had a very strong smell of damp which was quite overpowering to the point we had to buy some air freshener. The property is in need of upgrading and was surprised to find the bathroom had carpet on the floor . There were some nice touches provided by the owners and we were contacted as we traveled up to say they had had a water leak from next door so the carpet needed drying out. There were many signs of damp throughout the property but it had all the facilities you would need it just needs some TLC

Great accommodation, beautiful area.
Besom Barn is a "studio cottage", all in one room, apart from the bathroom. Ideal for the two of us and our dog, who was extremely welcome! High standard of furnishings, spotlessly clean and well equipped kitchen. The log burning stove was a joy on chilly evenings. Sue was welcoming, friendly, and happy to provide information about the barn, it's history, which is fascinating, and the surrounding area. The A697 is a busy, fast road without a footpath, so not great to walk along, but information about off-road walks into Longframlington and around the spectacular local area is provided in the cottage. A very relaxing & enjoyable short break, thank you Sue.

Comfortable, cosy, well equipped apartment in an excellent location.
Besom Barn Cottage is conveniently located for visits to many of the attractions in Northumberland. The cottage is comfortable, cosy and well equipped. It is also very easy to find, and surrounded by wonderful countryside. My wife and I did not experience any of the minor inconveniences noted in some of the other reviews. Sue is a very welcoming and friendly host, and the supplies provided were a nice touch - thanks Sue. Longframlington has sufficient facilities (a couple of pubs, corner shop, etc.) for basic food requirements. There are also visits each week from fish and chip and pizza take-away vans. We would thoroughly recommend Besom Barn Cottage for any couple looking for a comfortable stay in Northumberland in lovely surroundings in a convenient location.

Disappointed
Hugely disappointed on arriving to be welcomed by musty and damp smells that lingered for days. Also disappointed at the derisory outdoor space for our dog. The only reason we choose this property was because we needed somewhere that was pet friendly for a few days. Overall, compared to numerous other holiday cottages that we have stayed at in Northumberland (Rothbury, Longframlington & Craster) over the last 30 years, albeit without a dog, this was the most expensive and the least appealing. Having said that, the bed was comfy and we enjoyed our short break.

Cosy comfortable cottage surrounded by beautiful countryside
The cottage was very clean and comfortable, it is small and cosy containing everything I, together with my dogs needed. The bathroom is large with a great shower and drying area. There is a log burner which really makes everything feel warm and comfortable. I think a few more lights outside would be useful for nightimes when the dogs have to go out before bed. For me, the only thing I would change would be a garden area with seating where I could spend time with my dogs, read my book with a cup of tea or a glass of wine after a lovely beach walk, although there is a small fenced area set aside for dogs to use. Sue and Chris are so friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. There was tea, coffee and milk provided which was very much appreciated on arrival plus a bag of treats for each of my dogs with their name on, a lovely touch! A great cottage in a beautiful location, completely dog friendly and hosts who really care about their guests.

The cottage is adjoining our property and we have lived here for 24 years. Chris is a Northumbrian, but I am not. However I feel like Northumberland is my true home.
We both enjoy the country way of life and take an active part in village life. We love to walk and explore Northumberland, so can offer extra local information and hidden gems.
We like to listen to live music and there is a lot in this area, mainly traditional. Every year there is the Rothbury Music festival (June) and Alnwick International Muisc Festival (July)
Our love of food holds no bounds and can recommend a lot of places in the area.

Why they chose this property

There is everything you need for a relaxing holiday. A lot of our guests comment on, that by the end of the week they are so relaxed that time has no meaning.

What makes this property unique

The hill we look onto is called Mount Pleasant, and to me that sums up living here. I think we have the best of both worlds. We are surrounded by lovely countryside and on the main A697, so can so drive anywhere. We have unpolluted skies and often have a starry nights, and have seen the Aurora Borealis, sitting in the garden.
