Idyllic

The house and property were gorgeous - just like the photos! The area is somewhat quiet, Tatamagouche and Pictou were fun. It was a great place to unplug and relax!

Nice vacation overall but…

Beautiful home and location. Listing as advertised. Be mindful to documented any damages to the property when check in to avoid charges ( because we didn’t) Be sure only to leave the “correct amount” of garbage and linens for the cleaner to avoid additional charge too. ( even we offered to take the garbages to the road in the garbage bin, but was instructed to leave the garbage for cleaner to deal with) The wind flow through the house was very nice, but the house has no AC, even though there are fans inside, it is not adequate when all the windows need to be closed in the summer time.

Magical Spot on the North Shore

This is our second summer staying at Nicholetta’s beautiful beach house. It is just as gorgeous in real life as it is in the pictures and was perfect for our family of four - including a 2 year old and infant. The yard is huge and far enough off the road that our toddler could run around without as us having to worry. The beach is rocky but the water is warm and we had fun “hunting” for hermit crabs. The sunsets and view are stunning and made for perfect evenings with a nice bottle of wine. We hope to be back again next summer!

Great views off the beaten track

Views from every window of this stylish, modern house were amazing, and we enjoyed sitting on the deck, watching the sunsets, and walking at low tide along the water (but a more accessible path to the beach would make it even better). The open plan design offers little privacy but adds to the spacious feeling. We were surprised to find standard amenities lacking (e.g. paper products, a TV) and dismayed that we were sent no directions to this hard-to-find house and minimal information about the location of the key. Highlights of the area include the Saturday morning farmers’ market in Tatamagouche, charming Pictou, and Gloria’s nearby farm stand.

Great views but missed the mark

We booked a stay at this property for 2023, and while the property had great views and stylish decor, it missed the mark. The house does not have air conditioning, and the house rules do not allow the windows to be left open at night or when not at the property. It leads the property to be quite stifling during the summer as there is not an adequate way to cool (we ended up bringing our own fans as the ones there were not adequate). Many other properties in the area have heat pumps; you would expect better climate control for the price. Of particular concern was the lack of civic address on the property, it is very difficult to find the appropriate driveway for the rental, which is against bylaws and also concerning if there were a need for emergency services. The washing machine button was missing, and had to figure out our own way to make it work - there needs better communication in advance, particularly given that the rental price is a premium for the area.

My Nova Scotia

Property was gorgeous with windows to water view in every room. Kitchen was well supplied. Loved clamming at low tide and paddle boarding at high tide right in front of house. The immediate neighborhood was very low key with not a lot to do . We went beer testing in tatamagouche which was fun and to lavender farm. It’s a long way to Halifax and tourist spots on southern coast…. Need to keep that in mind. If you want lots water activities and a quiet beautiful spot this would be perfect

Perfection

My family and I stayed at this beautiful cottage for two weeks in May and it was the perfect reintroduction to the province, where we were relocating our family. The house was gorgeous top to bottom with tons of space for our three kids to play and for my husband and I to relax and enjoy our surroundings. The many windows provide you with breathtaking views of the sunset and sunrise and the grounds outside were perfect for our kids to be wild and free. We spent a lot of time at the beach, especially when the tide was out hunting for treasures and playing in the water. It was one of our most memorable and relaxing vacations to date and we would definitely go back.

Missed it by that much

Great bones, lovely location and well equipped except for a lack of comfortable seating both indoors and out. House was not overly clean and had long black hairs everywhere including the showers. All the towels where still in the dryer and overall the home was not prepared for paying guests.

Perfect little getaway

From the moment we stepped foot on the property we felt like we could just relax. We loved the home and spent our two weeks day dreaming of having a space like it for our own. It was so refreshing and welcoming. We brought our own paddle boards and explored the bay at high tide and would putter on the sand bars during low tide. We will remember our time at our seaside home very fondly and we are so thankful for our time there!

Very special location for a relaxing vacation

We had an amazing stay at this stunning vacation home. The view is incredible and you’re high enough up to have a steady comfortable breeze. Waking up and enjoying coffee on the deck made for an incredibly tranquil start to each day. This area is so peaceful. The deck itself also always has some shade and some sun so everyone can be comfortable outside. We also loved the lawn games that the house had. The kitchen and family room area is stunning (exactly as pictured) and made cooking dinner etc. so enjoyable. The access to the water is great and we enjoyed walking out at low tide or bringing chairs and drinks down and just relaxing with our feet in the water while our kids played. The location is also great. We easily were able to pop into Tatamagouche, head to Jost vineyard, and enjoy Lismore farms, though we spent the bulk of our time just enjoying the peace and beauty of the property here. The only con is that there isn’t AC, which on hot nights makes for warm sleeps, but other than that there’s nothing negative to say.

summer 2020

Beautiful property. My kids loved the cottage. Very peaceful and quiet with beautiful sunsets/view. Enjoyable to watch the tides come in and out, explore on the mud flats. We had bonfires on the beach. The water is warm, but my kids found it a bit a bit rocky to swim in. Down the street just 5 min drive is a beautiful sandy beach Rushton's Provincial Park that is perfect for kids to swim.

Beautiful home, amazing sunsets, wonderful amenities!

We had a very relaxing weekend. Close to Jost winery and Tatamagouche Brewing company if you want to venture out! Quaint town, quiet area with the only downside, and its not bad, being that the water isn't really accessible during low tide. All in all very difficult to find any negatives with this property!

Great house for a family vacation in a picturesque part of Canada

We rented this house for a week in July 2019 with our 3 children (9, 7 & 4) and were lucky to have outstanding weather all week. This meant we could enjoy the surprisingly warm water for swimming and kayaking when the tide was in and enjoy paddling in the rock pools and looking for small crabs and clams when the tide was out. Trips to the local winery, brewery, sheep farm and local towns occupied us during the days but we were usually home in time to enjoy the sunset with a plate of local oysters and a glass of local wine. The house has everything we needed to eat in every night and entertain ourselves with board games and cards. It all made for a special and memorable vacation. Nicholetta was very responsive to any issues or questions we had.

Unforgettable!

We had such a great time in this house! It was perfect! It had a lot of space and everything we needed. It was quiet, calm and very luminous. The view was beautiful and we had nice sunsets and sunrises. We walked in the bay at low tide... We went far! We went to the market, to the lavender field, to the beaches nearby, to see the big tides at Five Islands and the tidal bore, to the railway dining car... We had a wonderful time in this fantastic house!

Book this house for a slice of Heaven on Earth!

If you are looking for a slice of Heaven on Earth, book this house! It is a pristine property on the quiet shores of the Northumberland Strait in a warm and welcoming community. Our multi-generational family of 7 had plenty of room to enjoy our privacy or gather for dinner and fun on the main floor with spectacular views of the water and Cape John. We would go back in a heartbeat. Be warned: a week is not enough if you are traveling from New England! Best dinner: fresh salmon and mussels from Billy's Seafood in St. John on the drive in. 2nd best dinner: Jo Dearing's Southern Smokehouse BBQ in River John. Best evening excursion: sunset sea kayaking with Coastal Spirits and the chance to photograph the harbor seals. Best breakfast: strawberry pancakes made with Pick-Your-Own berries in River John. Best lazy day: hunting for driftwood and rocks and swimming at low tide. Best souvenirs: wool blankets and dryer balls from Lismore Sheep Farm. Best beer: Tatamagouche Brewing Co. Best wine: Jost Vineyards. Added adventures: day trips to PEI, Halifax, Peggy's Cove, Hall's Harbour, and Pictou. Thank you, Nic, for sharing your house with us. We loved Nova Scotia!
