Lovely waterfront home on Lake Ontario


Our family cottage is nestled in the woods with 150 feet of waterfront property overlooking beautiful Lake Ontario.

Our property has three levels for you to enjoy your surroundings. The deck attached to the house offers stunning views of the lake and sunset. Grill and dine, play a game of darts or simply read a book while you enjoy the tranquility. A flight of stairs off of the deck leads you to a grassy area where you will find Adirondack chairs around a fire pit. Bring lawn darts or corn hole for some family fun! Continue along a short path and down another flight of stairs and you will arrive at our beach deck on the shore. Go for a refreshing swim or take a kayak excursion. Or simply sit on the deck and enjoy the sparkling water and sea breeze!

Robert G. Wehle State Park is minutes away and offers many amenities, including miles of hiking trails, tennis courts and a brand new playground for the kids. Take a picnic lunch and walk along the beautiful cliff trail to the slate shoals where you will find picnic tables and restrooms.

There are sandy beaches a short drive to the north or south. Picnic tables and grills dot the beach at Westcott State Park and Southwick State Park.

Stroll through the picturesque town of Sackets Harbor, visit the charming shops, historic sites and battlefield, and dine at one of the many waterfront restaurants.

Anglers take note! Boating and fishing enthusiasts flock to this area every summer. There are many fishing charters available in Henderson Harbor and boat rentals at our local marinas for a reasonable price. If you own a boat, there is no place to park or turn a boat around on our road, which is a dead end. However, you can park your trailer on our property at the top of the hill or at the local marina.

For the more adventurous, the Black River in Watertown boasts some of the best whitewater rafting in the country.

Explore the area with day trips to the Renaissance Fair, the Thousand Islands with ferry rides to Boldt Castle, and the Enchanted Forest Water Safari in the Adirondacks.

An evening is not complete without a trip to The Trolley for an ice cream cone, an upstate NY summer tradition.

This three bedroom, two bath home sleeps six adults comfortably. All three bedrooms have air conditioning units. There is a washer and dryer available for your use.

Please note from Sunday, June 29th through July 27th all bookings are Sunday to Sunday.

Amazing stay

Everything was perfect! we had the best time kayaking the lake , and relaxing on the deck and by the fire! One of the best stays we have had. Would defiantly bring our family back here for vacation in the future (:

Lake Ontario Treasure

We loved being at the Lake House. The swimming was amazing. We walked, picked wild apples, saw turkeys, water birds, hummingbirds, butterflies, spiders, osprey and a bald eagle. We had privacy and quiet and adventure. Thank you.

Fantastic Relaxation

We loved our stay at this wonderful hidden gem! Spacious and clean. We were able to still enjoy sitting outside on the deck even during the rainstorms with the roofed alcove. The view from the shore sitting area was beautiful! And the hosts were very helpful with any questions we had. We're already planning our next trip here!

Very nice time. Nice view of Lake Ontario, spent a lot of. Time on dock. Lots to do in area the park is great. Very Private and lots of room in cottage. Well furinished and. And ready to go. The two sisters were very nice would Like to meet them .have fun we did!

Weekend stay

Stayed here in the fall, simply looking for peaceful silence. And it provided that both times. Have zero complaints and it’s a great spot for either fall or spring and I’m sure it’s absolutely lovely in the summer.

The property was spacious, with three bedrooms and two baths. We used only one bedroom and bath —good news for the cleaning crew. The only complaint I have is the noisy and inefficient air conditioning system. Maybe the owner can hire a professional to fix this problem. Anyway, we had a good time and most likely will rent again.

Relaxing get away!

What a beautiful home away from home! My family and dog stayed for a week and had a very enjoyable time. The cottage was clean and very spacious with lots of room for storage of any kind. Keep in mind there is not a stove, but we never needed one! The deck by the water was our favorite part with inner tubes and 2 kayaks. We were very impressed at how calm and clean the water of Lake Ontario was by the camp. Would love to stay again!

Beautiful lakehouse

This is a beautiful lakehouse on Henderson Harbor. They have a very well-stocked kitchen., and it was nice to have the beds made when we arrived. We enjoyed many hours swimming. kayaking, paddleboarding relaxing on floats, watching the sunsets and just enjoying our perfect surroundings. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet and the three different levels from which we could enjoy the lake! .

Lakeside retreat

Our second visit to this fantastic rental on Lake Ontario, the PERFECT spot for rest and relaxation. Quiet, clean, and well appointed -- and they allow well-behaved dogs! Seriously! How awesome is that? We arrived in Henderson, NY stressed after a week of cleaning up from Hurricane Ida in New Jersey, and left feeling renewed and refreshed. Cannot recommend enough!

Perfect Fall Weekend

This was the perfect lakefront home for a relaxing, long weekend away. Owners are very responsive and helpful! The sunset views were amazing and our dogs loved exploring down by the lower dock! Extremely quiet neighborhood, but not far at all from restaurants. We ate at Carbones one night and then Tin Pan Galley after spending an afternoon in Sackets Harbor… Both were excellent recommendations! Our favorite activity was the hiking in Robert Wehle state park- absolutely breathtaking views of Lake Ontario! We’ll definitely be back to visit the area again!😊 Thank you for sharing your beautiful family home with us, Kimberly & David (And Hondo & Rory too🐾🐾)

Nice quiet break from the world

We loved the open space of the living area as soon as we walked in. The view of the lake through the living room sliders and from the deck is just outstanding, we watched lake birds and boats, sunny mornings and beautiful sunsets, and the stars at night. We enjoyed a trip to Sackett Harbor, as well as walking in the Robert Wehle State Park, and the ice cream at McDonald's Farm is awesome. We visited after the main tourist season was done for the year so many places were closed; it wasn't a problem for the two of us but it's something to keep in mind if you're planning a visit. This is the first place we think we may visit again in the future out of all the VRBO properties we've stayed at.

Wonderful Weekend

We were very fortunate to rent this lovely spot for the holiday weekend. We were also extremely lucky to have the best weather in over 8 months. The camp was immaculate and just as listed. Beds and beddings and towels all great quality. Very nice that master is adjacent to bathroom and on other side of house from “kids” rooms. These twin bedded rooms were as nice as the master bedroom. We spent much time on the deck, beautiful view. Great to also use fire pit in evening. The deck on the water was the highlight, our sons were casting as sunset and one reeled in a monster of a Wallyeye (12 lbs +), let him go for next renter to catch!

Perfect Vacation!

We spent two fantastic weeks in July at this lovely cottage in the woods. We could not have been happier with our accommodations. The cottage has a spacious, comfy living area and fully equipped kitchen looking out over the lake. We grilled and dined on the deck nightly and played darts while we cooked. The kids (6 & 10) really enjoyed our evenings making s'mores around the fire pit. They spent countless hours playing in the lake in front of the cottage and we enjoyed kayaking at sunset when the lake was typically calm. The beds are very comfortable and while we rarely used the air conditioning in the bedrooms, it was nice to have the option. The owners, Jeannie and Janet, are very accommodating and provide fun family games and books as well as a good sized TV with satellite. They also leave a notebook with ideas for family adventures, several of which we took advantage. The kids especially enjoyed the boat trip to Boldt Castle, the Renaissance Fair and playing on the shoals at Wehle's State Park. My parents joined us for a several nights and really appreciated the easy access from the driveway and the beautiful view from the deck. Thanks for sharing your family summer home with us. We will definitely be returning!!!

Wonderful Lake Views and Sunsets

This is a fantastic place to spend a summer week at the lake! We (2 adults, 2 teens) traveled with my brother and sister-in-law, the layout accommodates groups such as ours exceptionally well. The front door opens into a charming, large living room with sliding glass doors to the deck (and view of Lake Ontario). To the right are the kitchen, a master BR and adjacent full bathroom. On the opposite side of the living room are two additional BR (one king, one with 2 twin beds) a second bathroom and the laundry room. The entire home was spotless, and had everything we needed for a relaxing week. The surrounding area is full of lovely towns on the lake or river, and we never lacked for places to explore, good restaurants, and activities such as boat tours and exploring Boldt Castle. The owners were helpful and attentive, Janet reached out after the prior renters mentioned bees on the deck to offer helpful advice to keep them away (they were not an issue during our stay). If you choose to just stay on property the entire week, you can easily keep busy kayaking or floating in the lake, or relaxing on the deck(s) or at the fire pit. We played some competitive games of darts and Clue, with many other games to choose from. The sunsets each evening were extraordinary - never the same, and always beautiful. Thank you for a wonderful week!

We are the daughters of Joan and Bob McMullen from Rochester NY, who fell in love with this area over 40 years ago. They bought this property and we all worked together to build this cottage and make it a very special summer place. Since then, we have both raised our families (six kids total) who delight in the water and their time in the woods! Jeanne now resides in Boston and Janet in Florida...and our time here is limited. So... until we retire and can spend our entire summers here, we want to share our little bit of paradise with you!

Why they chose this property

We only want to persuade those who would enjoy what our home has to offer. Please read our reviews for a good sense of our unique accommodations. Many cottages on the lake are older with small windows and no out-door areas. We have a large deck with double sliding glass doors. You can enjoy the scenery from within or without!!

What makes this property unique

We have several guests that return every summer. They love the wooded setting, the privacy and the tranquility. Our living room is open and spacious, and the view breathtaking. And you can't beat the sunsets! Every evening we wait with anticipation as the sun sinks down over the lake. Each night we witness a brand-new display of light and color, as no two sunsets are exactly alike!
